Chapter 50
The CEO's Amazing Ex-Wife Is Back!
Chapter 49 âYouâre going to make her yours?â Kris gritted out. âThalassa is not an object to be owned. She makes her own choices.â
Clark stared at him. âOf course I know that. But donât pretend you donât know what I mean. Iâm just planning to win her over.â
âSure. Good luck,â Kris said sarcastically.
Clark leaned towards him. âCome on, why donât you help me out? You had better luck than me the first time. So tell me, what do I do to win her over? What are her likes and dislikes? What makes her weak in the knees?â
Alden, who was taking a sip of his whiskey, nearly choked on his drink when he saw the murderous look in Krisâs eyes as he glared at Clark.
When Kris didnât bother to respond after a few seconds, Clark shrugged. âEven if you donât help me out, a way to make her mine myself.â
Iâll figure âDude, chill, no?â Alden said, not liking how possessive the man sounded. âYou just saw her again after a couple of years, and you havenât even talked to her.â
Clark sighed. âThe truth is I never stopped thinking about her, but I stayed away because I thought she and Kris were happy together. Now that I know thatâs not the case, Iâm not going to waste any opportunity.â
As soon as Thalassa and Luisa entered, every eye that fell on them lingered, and they could feel it.
âThey are staring, baby,â Luisa gushed excitedly.
It wasnât that she was new to the attention of the male gaze, but during her relationship with Victor, every time a man stared at her, it would somehow always be her fault. He would belittle her, making her feel so horrible that she began to detest any kind of attention from men. She convinced herself that Victorâs âlove and affectionâ were sufficient for her even when he continued to ignore her.
But not anymore. She was done living according to what he wanted. From now on, she was going to allow herself to feel wanted and desired.
Basking in the attention they were receiving, Luisa was still looking around when her eyes fell on the table where Kris and his friend were seated.
âOh, youâve got to be kidding me.â She let out a groan.
âWhy? Whatâs wrong?â Thalassa questioned, following Luisaâs gaze. She stiffened when her eyes suddenly met Krisâs gaze.
âOut of all the clubs in Baltimore, why did he have to be here?â Luisa was annoyed as she turned to Thalassa. âWe can leave if thatâs what you want, Lassa. Letâs just go somewhere el-â
âNo, weâre not going anywhere,â Thalassa cut her off. âMy life isnât going to be ruled by anyoneâs presence.â
With that, she sashayed towards an unoccupied table with Luisa following her. She could feel Krisâs eyes on her with every step she took, but she kept her eyes focused and didnât even spare him a glance.
Luisa could also feel Aldenâs eyes on her, remembering how heâd come onto her at the office and how rude sheâd been to him.
Just as Thalassa was about to beckon a waiter over to order drinks for them, another waiter approached their table.
+25 BONUS Chapter 49 âHello ladies, the gentleman at that table says heâll take up the cost of every drink you order. So what would you like to drink tonight?â
Thalassa stiffened because of the table the waiter pointed at Why would Kris be offering to pay for her drinks? She finally relaxed when the waiter clarified.
âI mean the one in the grey suit.â He nodded with his head at the fourth man at Krisâs table.
Luisa raised a brow. âDo you know him?â
âI donât think so,â Thalassa shook her head slowly even as she frowned slightly. The man looked a little familiar even from the distance, but the fact that he was sitting at Krisâs table was already a turnâoff.
âPlease tell him that we donât accept his offer. We pay for our own drinks,â she said to the waiter, who smiled like heâd been expecting that reply before he turned and headed back to the table.
Beckoning another waiter over, they placed their orders for two apple ciders. While they waited, Luisa expectantly eyed the dance floor where some people were already dancing and grinding to the pop beat playing.
v Victor. She couldnât wait to hop on the dance floor again after sucia long time of being prevented from doing so by âHeâs walking towards our table,â she said, noticing the man whoâd offered to pay for their drinks approaching. Thalassa let out a sigh, wondering whether she was going to have to deal with one of those men who never knew how to take no for an answer.
âHello ladies,â he flashed a charming smile as he reached their table, and Thalassa was hit with another sense of familiarity.
âMay I have a seat at your table?â
âNo, thanks,â Luisa denied.
The man focused his gaze on Thalassa. âYou refused my drinks.â
âI donât remember holding a placard that reads that I want free drinks,â Thalassa pointed out.
Instead of looking offended, the man flashed an amused smile. âYou really donât recognize me? 1 probably should be offended because I recognized you instantly.â
Thalassa finally allowed herself to really look at him until it finally clicked. âClark.â
âFinally!â Clark punched the air and immediately sank onto the chair beside Thalassa without an invitation.
âIâm so happy to see you again after such a long time, Lass.â He said, and took her by surprise when he suddenly engulfed her in a hug.
Thalassa froze at the unexpected action, and almost instinctively, she looked over his shoulder at Krisâs table. She sucked in a breath when she realized that Kris was staring at them, his gaze.so stormy that if looks could kill, Clark would already be dead.
