Chapter 61
The CEO's Amazing Ex-Wife Is Back!
Chapter 60 +25 BONUS Thalassa felt shock ripple through her as she stared at the picture on the phone screen. It was a picture of a woman who looked like her, sitting naked on top of another man, and they appeared to be having sex.
Yes, a woman who looked like her, because there was no way in hell the woman in the photo was her, even though the woman had the same hairstyle sheâd had four years ago Kris flipped to another photo, then another, then another. Thalassa could only stare at the screen in shock. There were five photos in total, and they all seemed to have been taken from a hidden spot.
âWhat happened now? Cat got your tongue?â Kris questioned. âYou canât deny it any longer, can you?â
âThose photos are fake!â Thalassa hissed, her voice trembling with a mix of disbelief and fury. âI donât know that man, and I definitely didnât sleep with anyone the night before our wedding!â
âI had them all verified myself!â Kris shot back. âDo you know how badly I wanted it all to be a lie or a mistake? I refused to believe it when they were shown to me. I had it verified not only by one or two, but by three top professionals. Do you know what it did to me when they all told me the same thingâthat the photos were real?â
His expression softened with sadness as his voice dropped. âIt broke me.â
Though heâd still had those pictures on his phone all this time, he hadnât looked at them in such a long time. Seeing them again today felt like scabs being ripped off old wounds he thought had healed.
Thalassaâs frustration was growing by the second, but so was her confusion. If what he was saying was true and he truly had the pictures verified, then how were they not proven to be fake?
âI donât care what some âtopâ professionals say. All I know is that Iâve never even met that man in the picture, so how could I have fucked him?â She sneered. âLike I already said, on the night before our wedding, I went out with Karen and-â
She trailed off as the events of that night began rolling through her mind. She remembered how hard Karen had insisted that they needed to go out and have some fun to celebrate her upcoming wedding.
Karenâs idea of fun had been going to the club. Yet, even when Thalassa had refused, Karen had insisted until she finally gave in.
Thalassa remembered suddenly feeling all groggy at the club, which wasnât right since sheâd only drunk one glass of martini.
When it became too much to bear, sheâd told Karen that she wanted to go home.
That was the last thing she remembered until she woke up the following morning in her bedroom, feeling like a mess with a hangover.
As all the pieces of the puzzle clicked together, Thalassa felt another burst of hurt, betrayal, and anger go through her.
âWho gave those pictures to you, huh?â she demanded. âWas it Karen? Your mother? It was both of them, wasnât it?â
âAnd what if it was them?â Kris lifted a furious brow. âAre you going to accuse them of fabricating the photos just like you said they were the ones who sent that man to attack you? Just like you accused my mother of framing you for the money you embezzled from my family?â
Tears burned Thalassaâs eyes, but she refused to let them fall. It was obvious that nothing she said would make him doubt the things his mother and Karen had told him. To him, her words had never mattered.
Composing herself, she twisted her mouth into a disdainful smile. âIf you truly believe all that about me, then Chapter o +25 BONUS why are you here telling me that you canât stop thinking about me? That you canât get me out of your heart?â
Kris took a few steps closer to her as a selfâdeprecating smile curved his lips. âBecause itâs the truth. Because no matter how much I hate you, itâs like a curse. Iâm cursed to love you.â
Thalassaâs heart squeezed painfully hearing him say the one word she never heard from his lips all throughout their marriage.
He ran a hand through his hair, leaving it in a messy tousle as he looked at her. âWhy canât you just admit your mistakes? Why have you never begged me for forgiveness for everything you did?â
âYou want me to beg for your forgiveness? Okay, fine.â Thalassa took a step forward, then another, until she was standing right in front of him, staring into his eyes as she said, âWell, you can take your forgiveness and shove it where the sun doesnât shine. I donât need it.â
Anger and hurt flashed in his eyes. âYou truly have no shame.â
Thalassa scoffed. âYes, I have no shame because I have nothing to be ashamed of. And the day you realize that, just keep in mind that not even begging for my forgiveness will ever be enough for me to forgive you.â
They stood for several seconds, their heavy breathing syncing in the office as they stared at each other. Kris was the one who broke the staring match.
Shaking his head in disgust, he turned and walked out of her office.
Sitting behind the wheel of his car, Kris was simmering with frustration and confusion. How could Thalassa have denied sleeping with another man the night before their wedding even after heâd shown the evidence to her?
His chest tightened as he recalled the raw shock and confusion on her face when he showed the pictures to her. The way her eyes widened, the tremble in her voiceâit had all seemed so... genuine.
And when she told him so passionately that she never cheated on him, her voice had been filled with so much hurt along with her anger.
Kris shoved an agitated hand into his hair. Heâd had those pictures verified himself, so why the hell was he beginning to doubt them?
Gritting his teeth, he stepped on the pedal and drove to the Miller Mansion. Karen had chosen to be a housewife, so she was home most of the time to take care of their daughter.
He met his aunt Cynthia in the living room.
âNephew, youâre back home early.â His aunt observed, but Kris wasnât ready for any pleasantries.
âWhereâs Karen?â
His aunt was taken aback by his tone. âSheâs upstairs in your bedroom. Why? Is something wrong?â
Kris immediately went on his way, storming up the stairs. He prayed that Karen was alone and that their daughter was with the nanny. His prayer was answered.
Karen was sitting in front of her dresser applying makeup. She got up with surprise at the sight of him.
âKris, youâre back early. Aww, did you come to spend some time with-â
Before she could complete her sentence, Kris showed her the screen of his phone, which cut her off.
Karen looked at the phone and then at him. âWhy are you showing this to me?â
Chapter od âBecause youâre going to tell me right now. How did you get these photos?â
