Chapter 65
The CEO's Amazing Ex-Wife Is Back!
Chapter 64 Chapter 64 âNo, no, no! Youâve got to be kidding me,â Millicent groaned as she tried turning the ignition of her car for the umpteenth time, to no avail.
Sheâd just finished work after staying late, only for her car to start acting up now that she was in a hurry to get home.
Refusing to give up, she continued turning the ignition repeatedly. Finally, the car purred to life, but just when she was about to sigh with relief, it died again.
Death, because when she tried again, it didnât even make a sound.
âFuck!â she cursed.
Annoyed, she accidentally slammed her hand into the horn. It blew loudly and sharply, startling her and causing her to jump.
Then she burst out laughing.
The situation wasnât all that funny, but she knew she had no one to blame but herself. The car had been giving her warning signs for two weeks with its stuttering and lagging, but sheâd stalled taking it to the repair shop. Now it was biting her in the ass.
Realizing there was nothing she could do, Millie sighed and got out of the car. Tomorrow, she would have the car taken care of, but right now, she needed to get home. Urgently.
Locking the car, she leaned against it as she took out her phone and ordered a ride. She frowned when she realized that the closest car to her on the app was fifteen minutes away. She couldnât afford to wait that long. Otherwise, she was going to be punished.
She immediately made her way to the side of the road, watching for any taxis that might pass by. Five minutes later, she was still standing there. All the cabs sheâd tried to stop had been occupied.
Realizing she had no choice but to order the ride, she was just about to do so when a sleek ashâcolored Bugatti pulled up in front of her.
The window lowered, and she realized it was Zeke. Her heart did a flip.
âHey.â He flashed her a smile that made him look even more handsome than he already was. âWhat are you doing by the road?â
âMy car broke down, so Iâm looking to take a cab,â Millie answered.
âThatâs too bad.â He pouted slightly. âAlright, get in then.
Millie stiffened. âOh no, itâs okay. Iâll do fine with a taxi.â
His expression dropped. âI was rude, wasnât I? Telling you to get into the car just like that. Let me try again.â He smiled. âCan I give you a ride?â
âZeke, itâs not that. Itâs just...â Millie looked for an excuse, only finding one. âI wouldnât want to bother you since you were on your way.â
âNonsense.â He waved her off. âI donât know where you live anyway, but you know mine, so letâs make it fair. Please get in.â
Realizing he wasnât going to relent, she sighed and opened the door to the front passenger seat, getting in.
âThank you.â
Chapter 04 +25 BONUS Zeke pulled the car back onto the road and continued driving. After a few seconds, he turned to her with a frown.
âLuisa told me about Miller finding out about your friendship with Thalassá. So, what are you still doing around here? You didnât quit like you said.â
Biting her lip, Millie shook her head. âNo.â
âAnd Miller didnât fire you?â
âNo,â Millie answered, hoping he wouldnât ask her why. She didnât think she could lie. Thankfully, he didnât.
âAre you going to give me your address?â Zeke asked after a bit of silence.
Millie told him. Zeke punched it into his map. Silence ensued for the rest of the journeyâthe comfortable kind of silence.
When they got to her neighborhood, she pointed at a singleâstory flat. âHere.â
Zeke smiled slightly as he parked the car in the driveway. âImpressive.â
Millie rolled her eyes. The flat was modest at best, and her neighborhood wasnât exactly a place to be super proud of, unlike his.
She turned to him, flashing a smile. âThank you so much for dropping me off. See you later.â
With that, she got out of the car, but just as she was about to head towards the flat, she heard the sound of Zeke opening his door and quickly turned to find him stepping out. She raised a brow questioningly at him.
âWhat?â He smiled. âThis is the first time Iâm seeing your house. Arenât you even going to invite me in for some coffee? Thatâs very rude, isnât it?â
Millieâs heart skipped a beat. âYou want to come inside?â
âOf course.â Zeke closed his car door before making his way toward her. âIâd like to make myself at home.â
He was about to bypass her, but Millie quickly held him back by the arm, her voice having a little panic as she said, âNo, you canât go in with me.â
