Chapter 65 Chapter 65 Zeke frowned. “Why? Is something the matter?”

Millie pursed her lips without saying anything, which caused Zeke’s frown to deepen. “Millie, what’s wrong? Why do you suddenly look so tense?”

Millie swallowed. “Uh, it’s just... it’s just that my boyfriend might be around.‘

“Oh.” Zeke’s expression dropped slightly at that. He didn’t understand the sudden tightness in his chest.

He managed to smile. “I didn’t know you had a boyfriend, but what’s the problem if he’s around? I might as well say hi to him and warn him not to hurt you since I care about you.”

Millie’s heart raced slightly, but she quickly chastised it, telling it to stop acting so foolishly because Zeke obviously didn’t mean it the way she thought.

“So, are we going in or not?” Zeke prompted after some seconds.

With her heart in her mouth, Millie nodded and unlocked the door.

“Francis?” she called out. “Are you home?”

She saw him sitting in the living room. His eyes blazed when he saw her. Millie was just about to warn him that she wasn’t alone, but she wasn’t fast enough.

“Didn’t I tell you to come home early today? Why are you arriving at this time?” he demanded, storming towards her.

Zeke had just entered behind Millie, instantly frowning as he heard the way her boyfriend spoke to her.

Her boyfriend immediately slowed down upon seeing Zeke Before Zeke could say anything, Millie quickly spoke 1. up.

“Zeke, this is my boyfriend, Francis. And Francis, this... this is Zeke. I briefly worked at his house as a housekeeper three years ago.”

Zeke did not miss the way her voice shook slightly.

“I see,” her boyfriend said calmly as he smiled. “But you said three years ago, so how come you two are still acquainted? And why is he bringing you home? Where’s your car?”

Zeke stared at him. Why did he feel like the man’s smile was fake?

“It broke down just when I was about to return. That’s why I’m a bit late. Zeke saw me by the road and offered to drop me off, and I... I accepted.‘

“Your car broke down? Oh, I’m sorry for overreacting then. You know how worried I get when home early, especially since your phone was off.”

“It’s okay. And I’m sorry.”

The man was lying, and she was going along with it. Why was that?

Afterwards, they all stood there awkwardly. Zeke was studying Millie. She seemed to be shifting from one leg to the other, her body language showing how uneasy she was. Was it because of his presence?

“Like I said, thanks for bringing my woman home,” Francis repeated.

He didn’t say the words, but Zeke deduced that it was the man’s way of telling him to leave. Seeing how agitated Millie seemed, Zeke didn’t want to leave, but Millie herself spoke up.

“See you later, Zeke.”

Now that she was also indirectly telling him to leave, he had no choice. Nodding, he excused himself and walked out, hearing the door shut almost immediately behind him.

He felt his chest tighten with unease. Perhaps Millie had wanted him to leave because her boyfriend was a jealous type.
