+25 BONUS Chapter 66 Chapter 66 “Clark Morgan is here again, Thalassa,” Juana informed Thalassa over the phone.

Thalassa sighed. “Okay, let him in.”

A few seconds later, the man stepped into the office, wearing his usual beaming smile. “If the mountain doesn’t bother to call Muhammad, then Muhammad will look for the mountain.”

Thalassa rolled her eyes. “I don’t think that’s how the saying goes.”

11 “Yeah, whatever. You understood what I meant,” Clark said making himself comfortable in one of the visitor chairs.

“Are you here for something in particular?” Thalassa asked He frowned slightly. “You told me I could come here.”

“I don’t think you would come just to stare at my face.”

He grinned. “I mean, that wouldn’t be bad. I could stare at that face all day. It’s brighter than the sun.”

“If it were actually brighter than the sun, then you wouldn’t be able to look at it.”

“Ugh,” Clark let out an exaggerated groan. “I’m trying to flirt here, woman.”

Thalassa couldn’t help but smile, which pleased him.

“Good, I’ve made you smile again. That means you’re going to have lunch with me,” he declared proudly.

“No,” Thalassa instantly burst his bubble.

His mouth pulled into a pout. “Oh, why not? I know it’s your lunchtime now because I asked your secretary yesterday.”

Thalassa pursed her lips. What was the best way to tell him he was wasting his time? She had no interest in having anything to do with him or anyone else.

“At least you’ve got to make it up to me for yesterday when you refused to see me,” he mused.

Thalassa felt guilty. Yesterday, her confrontation with Kris had left her too shattered to deal with anyone, so she’d asked for her appointments to be canceled and told Juana to inform anyone who came to see her that she was too busy, even when she was told it was Clark.

Now she realized how rude that must have seemed.

“Okay, fine. I’ll go out with you for lunch.”

“Yes!” Clark grinned.

In the afternoon the next day, Alden stopped by Kris’s office, and seeing how sunken his friend’s eyes looked, he was alarmed.

When Kris admitted that he didn’t remember the last time he ate a proper meal other than coffee, Alden insisted that they go out to eat and wouldn’t stop until Kris finally accepted.

“Why are you treating the food like it’s made with shit? It’s pretty tasty,” Alden observed later as they were in the restaurant.

If the steak tasted as good as Alden claimed, then he wouldn’t know because his mind was occupied by so many thoughts his tongue couldn’t even do its job. 2 “You haven’t been eating properly for days. That’s unhealthy. You know I love you, so I can’t watch you do this to yourself,” Alden said, blowing air kisses at him.

Kris scrunched his face. Alden was a tough man but could be too sappy sometimes.

“Here, let me feed you.” Alden cut a part of his steak and lifted it to Kris’s mouth. “Come on, open wide for daddy.”

“Fuck off.” Kris glared at him, smacking his hand away.

Alden burst into laughter that was loud enough to draw attention to them. Kris looked around apologetically.

“But tell me, how are the investigations going?” Alden questioned. “Has your investigator found anything yet?”

“No,” Kris answered, tempted to run a hand through his hair, but he stopped himself. “Smoke hasn’t found a thing. He has become so inefficient. I think I should fire him and get another investigator.”

Alden scoffed. “Dude, chill. You only gave him the job two days ago. And how is he suddenly inefficient simply because he made you think Thalassa and Zeke Mathews were lovers? He never even said those words. You were the one who thought that was what he was insinuating.”

Kris gritted his teeth. “Do you want to start paying his salary? I can call him for you.”

“Of course not.”

“Then stop defending him.”

Kris thought he couldn’t get any more bothered than he was at the moment, but he was so wrong. Just a few minutes later, Thalassa and Clark Morgan walked into the restaurant. Since he was facing the door, he saw them immediately, his hands balling into fists.

“Okay, that guy truly doesn’t waste any time. I have to applaud him for how quickly he secured a date with her,” Alden said with mock admiration, which only served to irritate Kris further.

He stared after them as they were led to a table. Clark pulled a chair back for her, and she sat down with a smile. The chair she sat in caused her to face his direction, and their eyes met.

Kris felt his breath catch. She looked absolutely ravishing in a blue dress that had to be one of her designs. She broke their eye contact, looking away like he was just another person in the restaurant as she focused her gaze on Clark. 1 Kris felt his chest tighten, unable to stop looking at them as they gave their orders to the waiter and continued talking afterwards.

Once again, she was smiling and chuckling at almost everything the bastard said.

A few minutes later, Clark suddenly got up, said something to her, and exited the restaurant. Kris raised a brow, wondering what he was up to.

He didn’t have to wonder for long as Clark soon returned, but this time with a beautifully arranged bouquet of red roses. Going back to his table with Thalassa, he said something and reached it out to her.

“He took your advice,” Alden noted.

Kris couldn’t help the smirk that stretched his lips. Now Thalassa was going to be so disappointed in the guy for forgetting what she likes.

“How do you know?” Alden asked.

“Because she’s allergic to roses. They give her headaches if she inhales their fragrance.”

Smiling, he looked back at their table, waiting for Thalassa to tell Clark to take the roses away, but to his shock, she took the flowers from him, brought them to her nose and sniffed in the fragrance.

Then she looked at Clark with a smile. “Thank you. I love them.”

Kris’s smile turned into a scowl. “What the hell is she doing?”
