Chapter 77 Chapter 77 “Thalassa, please, can we talk?”

Zeke instantly grew annoyed and stepped forward belligerently. “Lassa doesn’t have anything to talk to you about.”

Kris gnashed his teeth. The bastard hadn’t had enough with controlling his sister’s life; now he wanted to control Thalassa’s life too.

“I don’t remember you being her spokesperson,” Kris gritted out before looking at Thalassa again. “Thalassa, it will only take a few seconds, please.”

She made no attempt to move away from the car. “If it will only take a few seconds, then you can say it from where you’re standing.”

Her voice lacked everything–no coldness, no warmth, nothing. Kris swallowed hard.

“I just... I just wanted to remind you that you have to go down to the station to file charges since you’re the one who was assaul–

treated that way,” he said, skipping over the word because even the thought of it filled him with so much rage and pain.

Thalassa looked at him. “Okay.”

That was it. Just “okay.” Maybe Kris was losing his mind, but he would’ve liked her to say something more. Anything. Even if it was to tell him he was the biggest piece of shit to ever exist, he would’ve taken it over this nonchalant side of hers she was showing.

But “okay” was all she said before she got into the back passenger seat and closed the door. Kris was pained. The windows were well–tinted, so he couldn’t even see her through the glass.

While he was still stewing over this, Zeke’s incredibly annoying voice broke through his thoughts. “I told you, didn’t I? She doesn’t want to speak to you. Don’t come near her.”

Kris studied the man in front of him carefully before voicing his thoughts. “She doesn’t even know that you love her, does she?”

He watched Zeke closely, and from the way his eye twitched slightly, Kris got his answer.

“I’m right, aren’t I?” He would’ve let out a chuckle, but he felt too raw inside. “She doesn’t know that you’re in love with her. You haven’t had the courage to tell her because you know she’ll reject you without hesitation. You know she’ll never be yours.”

“That’s none of your business,” Zeke fumed. “And do you think simply because you exposed the woman you cheated on her with, Thalassa will want to be yours again?”

“I would tell you that I never cheated on Thalassa, but I’m sure you’d be too stupid to understand,” Kris stated, watching anger flare in the man’s eyes.

A wry smile curved Zeke’s lips as he delivered his own blow “It doesn’t matter if you insult me. All that matters is that Thalassa wants nothing to do with you. You had her for two years, and you were married to her for a year. She gave you everything, all her love, but the only thing she received in return was you always putting everyone else before her and making her suffer for something she never did. Now tell me, which one of us is the stupid one?”

Alden had just stepped out of the restaurant and stood behind Kris, and Zeke gave him his share of the glare. “And you stay away from my sister.”

Zeke’s words hit Kris hard, and he could only glare spitefully at the man as he got into the car and drove off with 1/2 +25 BONUS Chapter 77 his sister and Thalassa.

“What an arrogant prick!” Alden hissed. “Does he think he rules their lives?”

“He’s right,” Kris said, his voice filled with an edge of bitterness and shame. “Thalassa doesn’t want anything to do with me. She never will.”

“You don’t know that,” Alden disagreed, shaking his head. Did you try apologizing to her?”

“I couldn’t... I... I couldn’t bring myself to,” Kris admitted. I don’t have the right to ask for her forgiveness because I don’t deserve it.”

Alden pursed his lips as he stared at his best friend with pity. Years ago, he’d tried to tell Kris to have a little more faith in Thalassa, but Kris had been adamant that he had verified evidence of her betrayals. Only for it to turn out that, though the pictures weren’t fake, the circumstances that led up to them were entirely different.

Now it was all coming back to bite him.

Suddenly, Kris began walking toward his car, and Alden called out, “Hey, a ‘see you later, man‘ wouldn’t hurt. And where are you going?”

“Home,” Kris answered.
