Chapter 87
The CEO's Amazing Ex-Wife Is Back!
Chapter 87 Chapter 87 Earlier, as soon as Kris had chased Thalassa outside and Linda was granted permission, she wasted no time making her way to Karenâs cell.
Karen was still pacing the length of her holding cell but froze when she saw Linda.
âMrs. Miller...â
Linda stopped in front of the bars, a hard look on her face, but before speaking, she first glanced at the bed behind Karen, where her cellmate was lying.
âSheâs asleep,â Karen assured her before pleading, âMrs. Miller, please tell me you came to get me out of here. I canât stand-â
âLower your voice,â Linda hissed, not wanting Karenâs cellmate to overhear the impending conversation.
âOnce Karen quieted down, Linda began her lashing out in a low, harsh voice. âSo now you want me to get you out of here after you tried to implicate me in front of my son?â
Karen instantly grew nervous, seeing the dark look in Lindaâs eyes. âLinda...â
âShut up,â Linda snapped. âWhat the hell were you thinking? How could you tell Kris that I had something to do with those pictures of Thalassa? How could you betray me like this?â
âIâm sorry,â Karen quickly said. âIâm really sorry, Linda. Itâs just that... I was desperate. Kris had called the police on me, so I thought if he knew you were involved, he wouldnât send me to jail since youâre his mother.â
âYouâre a fool. Now I know even Thalassa has more sense than you,â Linda sneered.
Karen was offended but knew she was in no position to talk back.
Linda continued, âHow can you try to implicate me when Iâm the only one who could influence my son to get you out of here? I might be his mother, but Kris isnât beyond getting me arrested as well. Do you think I can help you in any way if he does that?â
Karen began to realize the wisdom in Lindaâs words, understanding how foolishly she had acted in her desperation.
âIâm sorry.â
âYour sorry doesnât erase your idiocy,â Linda fumed before saying, âThalassa came here to file charges against you.â
Karen nodded. âYes, she came to see me.â
Lindaâs eyes narrowed. âWhat did you two talk about?â
Karen panicked, about to fabricate something when Linda leveled her with a warning.
âDonât lie to me, Karen. You donât want to see the worst side of me.â
Karen swallowed. âShe promised to get me out of here if I told her everything, so I told her the whole truth about how you were behind all the schemes.â
âShe promised you that, and you believed her? You really thought she was going to get you out after everything you did to her?â
Linda voiced in disbelief. âWhen did you become such an idiot, Karen? Iâm starting to wonder if I made the wrong choice between you and Thalassa.â
A cop was about to pass behind them, so Linda stopped speaking and ran her hand over her hair with a smile.

She paused, her gaze growing increasingly sinister as she looked into Karenâs eyes. âTell me, do you really think you can handle being my enemy, Karen?â
Remembering everything Linda had planned against Thalassaâand probably against anyone who got in her way- Karen couldnât help the shiver of dread that run down her spine.
âAnswer me,â Linda demanded in the same calm yet dangerous voice.
Karen quickly shook her head. âNo.â
âGood,â Linda said. âNow listen upâeverything you told Thalassa was nothing but garbage you made up to get her to help you.
The only truth here is that I had nothing to do with anything sheâs accusing me of. Is that clear?â
Swallowing, Karen nodded. âYes. But when will you get me out of here?â
âIâll try my best to convince my son and see what other connections I can pull,â Linda said before issuing another warning. âBut even if that doesnât work out, and you dare betray me again, the last thing youâll have to worry about is being in jail. Trust me, you donât want me as your enemy, Karen. Because I will crush you. Do I make myself clear, or is your idiotic brain too dense to understand?â
âNo, no... I understand,â Karen said, her voice quivering.
Linda smiled. âGood. Now be a good girl. I came here with Kris, but he ran off after that woman. Heâs going to come see you soon, and he canât know that I came to speak to you first. Is that clear?â
Once again, Karen nodded without hesitation, the fear evident on her face. Smirking, Linda turned and made her way back to the waiting area.
