Chapter 89
The CEO's Amazing Ex-Wife Is Back!
Chapter 89 Chapter 89 Mum, can you leave us alone? I need to speak to Karen about something, then Iâll drop you off at the office,â Kris finally said, surprising them both.
âLeave you two alone?â Linda asked nervously. âWhy?â
âThereâs just something I need to discuss with her, and Iâd prefer if you left us alone.â
âOkay,â Linda nodded. âIâll be in the waiting area. Donât take too long.â
She looked at Karen. âGoodbye, Karen.â
To Karen, that goodbye held a thousand warnings, making her swallow nervously as she watched Linda leave.
âWhat did you want to talk to me about?â she asked Kris.
Kris stepped closer to the bars, his gaze intense and his voice dangerously low as he spoke. âThalassa recorded the conversation you had when she came to see you. You told her that my mother was behind everything that happened to her.
What evidence do you have to prove it?â
Even though Linda wasnât present, her earlier threats were still engraved in Karenâs mind, making her shake her head.
âI have no evidence because it was all a lie.â
Krisâs eyes darkened with fury. âIf it was all a lie, then why would you accuse my mother of such vile things? What is wrong with you?â
âBecause Thalassa told me to,â Karen said. âShe promised to get me out of jail if I told her everything your mother had done. She was so convinced, and thatâs why I decided to tell her what she wanted to hear, hoping she would actually get me out of here.
But she tricked me. She even made me beg for her forgiveness on my knees. All that time, I saw her recording.â
âSo, my mother had nothing to do with anything that happened to Thalassa, like you claimed?â Kris questioned.
âNo.â
Kris felt like the weight that had been pressing down on his chest had been lifted, but that didnât dissipate his anger as he stared at Karen.
âThat means it was you. You planned all of that against Thalassa. You sent that man to attack her. You killed our unborn child.â
âNo, thatâs not true!â Karen panicked.
As much as she was willing to do what Linda asked, she wasnât willing to take the blame for the death of Thalassaâs unborn child, something that was so brave and serious.
âI swear I had nothing to do with it.â
âYou were the only one who knew she was pregnant,â Kris sneered, his nostrils flaring. âThe night she told you to tell me the truth about her pregnancy, you said she was lying even though it was true. That attack on her was meant to make her lose the baby.
Who else could have sent that bastard if not you?â
Karen felt like she was caught between a rock and a hard place. She couldnât betray Linda again by telling Kris the truth, but how could she get out of this without being made to pay for something she didnât do?
âI donât know. I donât know who could have attacked her, but I swear it wasnât me. Despite everything, Thalassa 1/2 +25 BONUS Chapter 89 was still my friend, and I could never even think of doing something so cruel to her. Please, you have to believe me, Kris. I swear on our daughterâs life.â
âKeep my daughterâs name out of your damned mouth,â Kris snarled, his voice sharper than before.
âIs everything alright?â a male officer asked as he approached them. When Kris didnât respond, the officer spoke again. âIâm afraid your time is up, sir.â
Kris did not protest, not wanting to stay any longer anyway, but there was still something he needed to tell Karen.
âYou wonât get away with killing Thalassaâs and my unborn child, Karen. Mark it on the wall, that Iâm going to make sure justice is served.â
With that, he turned and walked away, leaving Karen calling out and pleading after him.
âPlease, Iâm innocent! I didnât do anything! Kris, you have to believe me! Kris!â
Pausing in the hallway, Kris pulled out his phone and dialed a number. âMillicent, I need your help.â
