Chapter 93
The CEO's Amazing Ex-Wife Is Back!
Chapter 93 Chapter 93 +25 BONUS âWhat is taking her so long?â Kris gritted out to Alden, who was sitting in the visitor chair next to him.
âForgive me if I sound too smart, but since this is a hospital, sheâs probably attending to some patients. Donât be so impatient,â
Alden mused sarcastically.
Kris glared at him and continued stewing in his impatience. A few minutes later, the door opened, and the doctor in question waltzed into the office.
âForgive me. There was a complication with a patient that required my attention,â she explained as she walked to take her seat.
Alden smiled smugly at Kris with an Iâtoldâyouâso look before turning to the doctor. âItâs alright, Doc. The patients come first.â
âThank you.â The doctor smiled gratefully, then looked at Kris. âMr. Miller, how might I help you?â
âYouâre the doctor who took care of Thalassa, arenât you?â he asked, his serious expression and tone making her nervous.
âYes,â she answered.
She didnât need to ask who he was talking about since his private investigator had been there a few weeks ago to make inquiries about whether the attack on Thalassa had been real.
Kris didnât waste any time. âI want details of the exact location where my wife was picked up by the ambulance on the day she was attacked.â
âExact location?â
âYes,â Kris reiterated. âThe exact spot where she was picked up. GPS coordinates. I need them all. I know all those records are saved for at least six years.â
The doctor bit her lip thoughtfully. âThatâs right... to some extent. I can pull up the record and give you the locationâthe area, neighborhood, and street addressâbut unfortunately, we donât note down exact GPS locations.â
âBut if itâs any help, she was found just some distance from an alley on the street,â the doctor quickly added as if to appease him.
Seeing the doctor was a bit nervous, Alden decided to take over the conversation. âThank you very much, Doc. That information would be very helpful. But we need it right now.â
âAlright, please excuse me. Iâll be right back,â she said before getting up and leaving the office.
Once she was gone, Alden rolled his eyes, looking at Kris. âDo you really have to look so unapproachable? Youâre too ugly for her, so trust me, sheâs not trying to hit on you.
When Kris didnât so much as crack a smile, Alden sighed. Kris had never been the fun kind of guy, but it had gotten progressively worse in the past few years. But could he really blame him? Nothing seemed to be going right for him over those years.
He was about to say something when Krisâs phone cut him off. Pulling his phone out of his pocket and looking at the screen, Kris froze at the caller ID.
He didnât have Thalassaâs number, but the security on his phone immediately picked up her name. His heart raced inside his chest. He didnât know why she was calling, but the fact that sheâd even bothered to call him meant more to him than anyone could imagine.
1/3 +25 BONUS Chapter 93 Without wasting another second, he answered and brought the phone to his ear.
âLa... Thalassa. Itâs good to hear from you.â
He tried to keep his voice as neutral as possible so that she wouldnât detect how overly excited he was. However, her next words fizzled all of his excitement.
âI want you to have the charges against Karen dropped,â
Kris tensed, and he didnât speak for a few seconds, waiting for her to repeat herself. Because surely, there was no way heâd heard her right.
âWhat did you say?â he finally asked when she didnât speak âYou heard me. I want Karen released.â
Krisâs head spun. âYou want Karen released? Why?â His nostrils flared. âAre you being threatened? Is that it? âWhoâs threatening you?â
âNobody is threatening me,â her voice came, impatiently.
âHave you forgiven her?â
âWho is talking about forgiveness? I know Iâm not,â Thalassa stated.
âThen why? Why would you want her released after everything she did to you? Everything she did to u-â
âYou said it right. She did it to âme,â so I decide how it should be handled.â
Kris shook his head bitterly. âIâm sorry, but that child you lost was mine too. You canât just make the decision to have their murderer released from jail. I thought you wanted justice for our child.â
He couldnât believe what he was hearing. Why had she changed her mind so suddenly? How could she even ask him to let Karen out of jail?
âYouâre right. I want justice. Youâre the one whoâs allowing our childâs murderer to walk around freely like sheâs an angel,â she gritted out from the other end.
Kris blew out a breath. âYouâve allowed Karen to poison your mind so much against my mother. That was how she was able to convince you to let her out, isnât it? Why canât you understand that sheâs manipulating you to try and deflect blame from herself onto my mother?â
âI didnât call you to argue with you because I have my facts straight. The only person whoâs being deceived here is you.â She paused. âJust do as Iâve asked.â
Kris shook his head firmly. âNo. Iâm sorry, but I wonât do it. I donât know why you suddenly changed your mind, but Iâm not going to allow our childâs death to go unpunished, nor all the other things Karen did to you!â
âThatâs fine. Iâll take care of it myself,â she said, and before he could say anything else, the line went dead.
Kris fisted his phone so tightly that he heard a crack, though he didnât bother to look at the screen.
âThalassa wants Karen to be released from jail?â Alden inquired in bewilderment after Kris ended the call.
Kris nodded, his teeth gritted bitterly. How could Thalassa show Karen such mercy when she refused to even understand him? It hurt so much.
âAnd you refused?â
âOf course I did!â Kris hissed. âSheâs still convinced that it was my mother who sent that man, but I need to make 2/3 Chapter 93 +25 BONUS her realize the truth. I need to find the man who attacked her as soon as possible and get the truth out of him.â
