Chapter 94
The CEO's Amazing Ex-Wife Is Back!
Chapter 94 In Thalassaâs office, after her call with Kris, Luisa and Mille were staring at her with varying degrees of shock and confusion.
âI canât believe this! Youâre really willing to let Karen out of jail?!â Millie exclaimed.
âAll because of what her mother came here to say?â Luisa fumed. âWhat if the two of them were in cahoots to deceive you?â
âRita is an honest woman and would never connive with anyone, not even Karen,â Thalassa replied calmly.
âEven so!â Luisa stared at her like she was going crazy. âI thought you wanted Karen to pay for everything she has done to you. I canât believe youâre just letting her get out so easily.â
Though Thalassa was exasperated, she could also understand her friendsâ frustration and confusion. Sighing, she stood up and walked to the floorâtoâceiling window on one side of her office, which overlooked a breathtaking view of the city.
âLuisa, do you remember my main motive for coming back to Baltimore?â she asked, still looking out the window.
âYes. You wanted to avenge the death of the child you lost,â Luisa replied, her voice a bit uncertain, as though she couldnât figure out where Thalassa was going with this.
âYouâre right. I wanted to punish the culprit. I wasnât sure whether it was Linda Miller, Karen, or both. But now I know whoâs truly responsible, the same person who orchestrated every horrible thing that happened to me. That person is still walking free.â
âSo youâre just going to forgive Karen? Lassa, remember that she was still that womanâs accomplice,â Millie pointed out.
Nodding, Thalassa slowly turned from the window to face her friends again, feeling her eyes moisten.
âI know, but do you really think this decision was easy for me? No, it wasnât, Millie. But that woman who left just minutes ago...
sheâs like a mother to me. Sheâs taken care of me and done much more for me than any living person has, and she never even asked for anything in returnâ
A tear slid down her cheek. âThis is the first time she has asked me for something. I know itâs a great sacrifice, but how do I refuse? I want her to know that I truly did appreciate everything she did for me. Thatâs why Iâm going to let Karen go... for a while.â
Millie and Luisa looked at each other with concern on their faces before Luisa spoke. âFor a while? What do you mean by that?â
Wiping the tears from her eyes, a cold smile stretched across Thalassaâs lips. âWhat? Did you really think I was going to forgive and let Karen get away with everything forever? No, Luisa. Iâm not the Messiah. She had better prepare for whatâs coming her way once Iâm done with Limda Miller.â
The next day, Karen was sitting on the bed in her holding cell, her hopes growing thinner and thinner, her eyes weary. Her cellmate had been bailed out yesterday, so she was all alone.
She hadnât slept a wink. How could she sleep on that hard, smelly bed that was probably infested with several diseases from all the bodies that had lain on it, especially when she was feeling more desperate than ever?
Sheâd hoped that asking her mother to talk to Thalassa would yield some results, but sheâd already spent another day in the cell, so obviously, that didnât work.
1/3 Chapter 94 +25 BONUS She felt so lost that when the police officer came to unlock her door, she didnât hear until the rattling sound of the door being unlocked broke through her daze.
âYouâre lucky. Get up. Youâre being released.â
Karen blinked, then narrowed her eyes. This particular cop was fond of taunting her, so how could she trust his words?
âShould I go and tell them you refused to come because you enjoy being locked up?â
Immediately, Karen scrambled off the bed. Grabbing her by the arm, the cop pulled her along. She was led to sign her release form and was handed back her phone and earrings.
Just as she finished, she saw Thalassa walking out of the station. Karen quickly followed her.
âThalassa,â Karen called out, finally realizing why she had been released. Thalassa had dropped the charges.
âShe quickly walked toward her. âThank you. Thank you so much for forgiving me, Lassa.â
Thalassa stared back at her, her eyes filled with nothing but coldness. âForgiveness? Do you really think you deserve my forgiveness?â
Karen bowed her head. âNo, but you âThen why are you mentioning it when you know it will never happen?â
Karen swallowed. âEven if you wonât forgive me, Iâm still grateful that you dropped the charges. Thank you.â
âI didnât do it for you, Karen,â Thalassa scoffed, closing the distance between them and whispering for only Karen to hear. âAnd donât you think for a second that this is it. I might have a lot of affection for your mother, but one way or another, youâre going to pay for being that womanâs accomplice.â
Karen was dismayed. She thought she could gain Thalassaâs sympathy, but this wasnât the Thalassa she knew years ago. This one seemed to have a heart of stone.
âSo youâre only pretending because of my mother?â Karen asked bitterly.
âOh God, Karen. Youâre out.â Rita Blade exclaimed as she appeared. âIâm so happy.â
She turned to face Thalassa, tears instantly springing down her cheeks as she hugged Thalassa. âThank you. Thank you so much, dear. I know you did this for me, and Iâm so grateful.â
Thalassa smiled tightly once the hug broke. âIâm sorry, I need to go.â
Without waiting to hear anything else, she walked off and got into her car, driving away.
âMum, sheâs only pretending. She hasnât forgiven me,â Karen complained.
âAnd so?â Her mother looked at her incredulously. âDid you really expect her to forgive you after all you helped that motherâinâ
law of yours do to her? Do you know how ashamed I felt begging for her forgiveness while knowing fully well that you deserve to be in jail? You should be grateful that she was kind enough to drop the charges against you.â
âBut, Mum, you donât get it. Sheâs going to put me back in â
âJust shut your mouth already, Karen. You donât know how ashamed I am of you. Letâs just go to you house, okay?â Rita cut her off and immediately began walking to her car. Karen followed her, her head bowed in shame.
Her mother drove her to the Miller Mansion. Karen felt so liberated to be back home, but the moment she stepped through the doors of her house, she froze at the sight before her.

âKris, what... what is this?â
As if it wasnât enough, papers were suddenly flung at her, falling down onto the floor. Karen picked them up from the floor, and she nearly had a heart attack when she saw what was written at the top of the papers.
