Jack POV

He watched Luci look from him to Rafe and then shake her head, ‘no’, he took a step towards her and watched her actively take a step back away from him and felt pain touch his chest. Not once in all the time hed known her had she ever stepped away from him like that, all uncertain

“Don’t” was all she said, “I need a minute.” She frowned

“Luci, we need to talk to you.” Rafe told her gently.

“I read what was on the wall.” She muttered, sounded angry all of a sudden.

“We only…” Jack tried to start to tell her, and she put a hand up to him to cut him off.
