Darius‘ POV

Five hours later, I waited at the gates for Ryker to arrive. I kept on checking the time impatiently. I wasn’t waiting for Ryker, I was waiting for the person coming back with Ryker.

My woman! My Angell

Reina asked about her mama this afternoon and I promised her she would see her mama before going to bed.

Six hours later, Ryker arrived at the pack’s gate. He had one car and one bus with him. I took a deep breath and waited, counting every second he took before he got out of the car. Ryker stopped at fifteen feet away from me. To other werewolves, that was normal but to someone like us who belonged to a

brotherhood, it meant something else was happening. It meant someone had done a terrible thing to the other person.

“What is this Ryker? I said, five hours and you took six hours before getting here,” He shrugged. “Something came up and I couldn’t make it within five hours. My pack to this place is farther than you think,”

I gritted my teeth. “Are you ready?” I asked. There was no need for me to keep talking when I knew I had far more important things to sort out. Right after I made the phone call to him, Mason changed the original plan we had.

The original plan was to lure Ryker into the pack after he handed over Angela to me while I also fulfill my side of the bargain. I’ll take the time to invite him in and give him some documents to sign while we wait for one of Ryker’s worst enemies, The Werewolf King.

We changed the plan after Mason said he got new information and asked me to go ahead with the plan but not to invite Ryker into the pack. He said there was no way Ryker would walk into the pack.

For years, I’d never questioned Mason’s method of getting information but staying with him in the past few hours in the same space and seeing how he had new information without making a call or stepping out of the house made me more suspicious and I became interested in whatever he was doing to know secrets, even the darkest secrets.

“She’s in the bus,” he answered. He was wearing dark–shaded glasses that kind of pissed me off.

“Which one? I believe it’s not that one,” I answered.

1 snickered and nodded. Why would a whole King Ryker be to a mere Alpha about his mate?

I acted as though I was going to check on the bus but as I walked closer to Ryker, I grabbed him by the neck and within the blink of an eye, slammed him against the car he came with.

He smirked. “Pretty smart, aren’t you?”

The bus suddenly went off in an explosion. My eyes went wide once I realized what Ryker had tried to do.

“I know better than to believe a pathological liar like yourself. You aren’t someone I met by the road, Ryker, I trained with you for years, and trust me, I know you far better than you give me credit for. Where the fuck is my mate?”

Ryker held my hand trying to pry my hold off his neck but I didn’t budge. I used my free hand to punch him in the stomach and twisted my hand. It was a technique we were both familiar with.

Don’t make me pull out my claws, RYkers. It’ll be a shame if you die here without a proper funeral,”

“Darius!” He called out.

“Answer my question, where is SHE?” I yelled out the last part so he would know how serious I was. He couldn’t just walk into my pack without fulfilling his own end of the bargain. He had no right to kidnap my woman and not bring her back

to me.

“I don’t know,” He replied, conceding defeat.

“What?” I asked, my hand slipping off his neck.

“The last time I saw her was last night and she was very much alive. She escaped with someone. Someone acquainted with an old friend of mine. That friend is currently in jail and I have my men out looking for your woman,”

“Am I supposed to believe all that you just said? Did you kill her, Ryker?”

“Never! I don’t give a fucking damn about the ten thousand rules of the family but the one thing I’ll never do is to hurt any of y’all women,”

The look on his face, his stance, and the way he said those words made me almost believe him.

“Then, where is she?”

“They’ll find her and we’ll resume this negotiation later,”

“I’m supposed to just let you walk away like that,”

I shook my head. “I’ll look for my woman my own way. Over my dead body will I take help from someone like you,”

“What do you want from me then?”

I raised an eyebrow. “I’m keeping your mate hostage until I find mine or maybe until you find my mate,”

He frowned. He was in total disbelief of what I said. “You’re lying,”

“You can call home to confirm, Ryker. I never bluff,”

I was able to find Ryker’s pack with the help of Alpha Reign, one of the Alphas we trained together with. Reign found his way into the pack right after Ryker left and ten minutes before Ryker arrived in my pack, Reign texted me to inform me that he had Ryker’s mate, and in his words, she was rather too cooperative. Reign helped because just like Mason, he believed Ryker broke the rules first.

“You would do no such thing or else I’ll read this pack down,”

“You can raid my pack all you want Ryker, but you wouldn’t find a strand of her hair in my pack,”

He growled lowly before he moved away from me to make a call. I watched the scene with my arms folded against my chest and an angry smirk on my face. What did he expect? Tell me my mate was gone and I’d allow him be? I wasn’t stupid. I knew he was going to come up with a stupid story about Angela and I was ready.

“You wouldn’t even dare to touch a strand of her hair,”

“I would love to wait and argue with you, Ryker, but I have to look for my woman,” I answered. I could hear something breaking. When I looked down, he was breaking the phone in his palm.

I turned to leave but stopped as a thought came to my head. I made sure Ryker was staring at me when I said the next words.

“Don’t worry Ryker, I’ll make sure your mate is taken proper care of and of course, see if she’ll be useful for anything,”
