CHAPTER 126
A Love Reawakened The Alpha’s Regret
Chapter 126
Darius POV
I stared at my phone ringing for the fifth time within two hours and I ignored it as usual. It was the same âuncleâ I didnât know I had for all the years of my life that was calling.
His calls had been persistent for the past two weeks, threatening me to release my father to him. Iâd tried looking into him but nothing came up. He was just an irrelevant asshole who thought he could decide the fate of my fatherâs life if he threatened me.
Iâd tried looking for a way to find out how my father reached out to him but it was all deadâend. My investigations are closing in and It still yielded nothing. I interrogated my father to see if he would tell me anything but nothing tangible came out of him. He was only rambling on and on like heâd lost his mind. I knew it was an act.
which I refused to read.
My phone began ringing again and I ignored it. I also got a text message from him w
My door opened all of a sudden, pulling my eyes away from the screen and pulling me out of my deep thoughts.
âMason. Learn to knock! Is that too much to ask for?â
He shrugged. âMaybe,â
1 shook my head. It was useless asking him to do something over and over again. It was like trying to break through an old habit. That shit is difficult.
âIâm leaving tonight within a few hours.â
1 scoffed. âShould I take you for your word! Youâve been saying you were leaving for a long time now and you still end up coming back here,â
our pack. Weâre moving in fully by morning tomorrow
âDonât blame me. Your pack is like a solitude to me. We finally completed some buildings in o which means my duty as their Alpha begins,
âThatâs true. Donât miss me too much,â I grinned.
We were both Alphas of that pack for as long as I can remember. It was more of a taboo for two Alphas to rule the same pack until we did it and we did it successfully.
Tmiss you,â he confessed.
âCall me anytime you need me. Iâll come within the blink of an eye
âI know,â he mumbled.
âHave you told Reina and Angela youâre leaving?â
He nodded. âI said my goodbyes to them already. I also brought Reina a few things to make the parting easy,â
Reina was really fond of Mason and I hope she wouldnât miss him too much.
Thanks,â
âDarius!â He suddenly called.
âYes, Mason!â
âDonât forget what we talked about. Think about it, itâll really help Reina. If I had gotten help like that, it wouldnât have been so hard on me. My life only got better when you came into the picture. Donât let Reina go through what I went through, Darius. Itâs a plea, not a demand,â
I sighed deeply. His words got to me,
âTil think about it, Mason, and Iâll do something about it.â
His eyes were filled with tears and it was the most emotional Iâd seen my brother since I met hint.
âThank youâ
you soon.â
âNahi Ill see you around,â
He hugged me tightly as I was still sitting before he walked away.
I rested my back against my seat thinking about what he said. I didnât have the kind of gift they had and according to him, Reina got hers really early and she was too young to go through whatever he went through. I believed it was about time I talked to Angela about it.
âHey baby,â Angela was in her room, reading a book on an. Ways of Seeing by John Berger.
Reina was already sleeping when I checked up on her.
Angela smiled as soon as she saw me
âHowâs my favorite girl doingâ I kissed her.
âGood but Iâve been better,
The pregnancy symptoms were beginning to have a kick of their lives and I hated how they made Angela feel.
âYouâre my strong baby girl. Just tell me whatever you need and Iâll get it.
She kissed me again and again.
âBefore you make me forget why I came here with your fluttering kisses, I have to stop us right there,â
She laughed.
âWhatâs the matter?â
âItâs about Reina and her gifts,
âMason is suggesting a school for gifted wolves. He believes the school will help her have control of her ability and help her cope with it,â
She stared at me. âItâs not a bad idea. I donât really understand her gifts. Ive been researching but there is only a little information about gifted wolves and none were about her type of gifts. Maybe Mason is right.â
The twins will be here soon as well; I wouldnât want her to feel we donât love her as much as them. The school might be a good idea,â she added. Iâd expected Angela to refuse to send Reina to that school and her response came as a surprise to me.
âI left our an important part. Itâs a boarding school, and itâs far away from here,â
She frowned. âItâs not an online school!â She asked rhetorically
It was my turn to frown. âI never mentioned an online school,â
âI thought you said it was an online school, Darius. Why would you suggest such a thingâ Sheâs six for Christâs sake. I canât even send her away when sheâs sixteen or thirty,â
My ears suddenly became alert when I heard the front door open. I became silent all of a sudden.
âWhat?â Angela asked.
âI heard the door.â
âMaybe itâs Azalea or the rain, she pointed outside her window and I could see it was raining heavily.
I nodded. It was probably the rain,
âWeâre not sending Reina away. Not now, not ever, she proclaimed.
*Weâll look for better alternatives to help her with her gifts. I can look for a way to reach out to the school and see if there are options for online classes. I suggested.
âThanks, my love;â
Angela was more tender and frail since she got pregnant and I loved wrapping myself around her. Once we cuddled for a few more minutes, Angela was already sleeping and the rain was beginning to stop, I stood up.
âWhere are you going!â
1 want to check on the front door and check on Reina as well,â
2/8
I walked downstairs and saw the door was already locked. Why then did I hear the door being opened earlier if it was locked?
1 walked to Reinaâs room to check up on her.
She wasnât on her bed. I walked to her bathroom and saw that she wasnât in there either. I checked her closet, under her bed, behind the curtains and still, nothing.
I walked down the stairs and checked the kitchen, my study room, the sitting room, and practically any other place but didnât find her,
âReina, I called out, hoping she would answer me. I heard the footsteps.
It was Angela who came downstairs instead.
âWhatâs
going
on? What happened to Reina?â
âI think sheâs missing, I think Reinaâs missing.
