CHAPTER 135
A Love Reawakened The Alpha’s Regret
Chapter 135
BOOK 2: CHAPTER 3
Harriette
I felt my breath hitch the moment I stepped into the room and took one glance at the Alpha Everything around me seemed to fall into a suffocating silence. It was as though something wasnât right and 1 just didnât know what it was.
I stood frozen, my legs stuck to the door side as my heart hammered like a wild beast. My eyes locked onto his and his presence seemed to fill the space as if one word from him would change the world. My world. Everything else at that moment seemed to be bleak and void.
His eyes were locked to mine. He hadnât said a word yet but the air between us suddenly felt charged, heavy as though his eyes spoke words his mouth didnât. He was so gorgeous if that was the right word to use for him.
What the fuck was this? Why am I feeling this way? What the hell was going on with me?
Iâd never been bothered about appearances because it was vanity.
My palm felt sweaty all of a sudden
âCome hereâ he commanded.
That voice! His voice was deep, resonant and it did something to me that I couldnât wrap my fingers around. It sent a ripple through me, breaking strings of chords I didnât even know existed.
I felt my hand leating go of the door knob as something more powerful than me pulled me towards him. I had to look away because it was too
much for me to handle.
âAlphaâ I bowed as I stopped in front of his desk.
âRowan. Itâs Alpha Rowan,â I nodded. My throat felt dry as words seemed to cease from my lips. His name sounded just perfect for a person like
him
âI have your file with me. Harriette Adams?â He called my name as though it was a question.
âYes. Alpha,
He cleared his threat and stared at the screen in front of me. I used mysterious,
ed that o
opportunity to look at him again. Everything about him felt strange,
Rowan was just a stranger. Someone Iâd never met in my entire life and yet, he didnât feel strange at all. It was as though Iâd known him all my life or I was supposed to know him
1 scrunched my nose as my heart began pounding painfully and I felt a banging headache.
âYou hund!â He asked, an eyebrow raised. His eyes met mine for a few seconds and I suddenly forgot how to think. His eyesâgods, those eyes were dark and intersie, boring into me like they could see straight into my soul.
Could he see my intentions too? What Iâm meant to do to him! My mission!
I felt bare and naked before him
âI asked you a question, he repeated menacingly. His voice sounded as though he was angry.
Stop acting like an idiot Harriette. I cautioned myself
Im sorry, Alpha. Yes, I hunt, I answered quickly.
âGood Aside from hunting, what else can you do?â
Too many questions. I usually hated being queried so much but I wouldnât hate it if he kept on asking as long as he didnât stop talking
What was wrong with me?
I shook my head.
Back in my pack, everyone had their individual roles and the one role that kept as together was our training. All I knew to do was hunt and an
âIf you can hunt, that means you can fight,â he said. I snapped my gaze towards him, I was expecting to see mockery but all I met was his serious expression
He was serious
âI canât fightâ I answered.
He nodded slowly, my eyes following every movement of his beautiful eyes, his perfectly shaped head, and his scrumptious neck.
HARRIETTE!! My subconscious yelled.
Fuck! I was losing my mind. I was losing my sanity because of a stranger.
âWe donât need a hanter for now but we d
we do need fighters and of course, a lot more positions are available to be filled but not a hunter,â he closed his laptop and stood up, staring at me.
Why the fuck was I called here then? Why did they let me in if they didnât need me?
âListen, Harriette, we allowed you into our pack because you can hunt and we believed you could join our fighters and help one way or the other.â
If I joined the fighters, Iâd let on that I was more than what they could see and that would destroy my mission in every way possible,
I would need to be extra careful and I couldnât see myself living my life like that.
âIf youâre not interested, you can leave my packâ
He announced, taking me out of my train of thoughts.
I couldnât leave. There was no way I would leave when I was already here.
Something primal sparked within me. Something that made my breath shallow and my pulse race. I tapped my feet on the floor unconsciously.
His eyes slid down to my feet, watched my movement for a while and he smirked. He was the epitome of perfection. Id seen men, a good number of them, but this one took the lead
My mind suddenly went to my lover waiting at home for me. If I failed in this mission and he died, his soul would never forgive me.
âMake up y
your mind. Harriette. You stay or you leave,
My name had never sounded so bad before whenever someone said it but now, it seemed as though the name didnât belong to me whenever he called my name,
1 felt as though something wanted to burst out of me as he held my gaze one more time.
I suddenly felt ashamed of myself. The fact that the thoughts of, didnât cross my mind since I walked into this room showed how shameless I was. What was I feeling? What was happening to me? I asked myself over and over again.
Harriette
My entire body shivered as I suddenly felt his words in my ears. I turned and his scent consumed me. He was right there beside me. I didnât even notice when he got there.
I shifted away from him.
Tay, answered.
As if his voice, his eyes, and his presence werenât enough, the feel of him beside me burnt me. I felt my heart ache and my
head
pounded.
I turned around ready to walk away and I suddenly felt dizzy. I stopped, hoping itâll calm my mind but I didnât.
What the heck!
my body suddenly go numb and slowly. I got consumed by darkness. As I slipped to the floor, the last thing staring at mewah concern.
I saw was those beautiful eyes
