CHAPTER 14
A Love Reawakened The Alpha’s Regret
Chapter 14
For the days that followed, Darius ignored me as if I was invisible and I was super grateful for that. Anytime we met at the door or on the staircase, heâd brush his shoulder against mine, act as if I wasnât there. With each time that our skin touched, the sensation I felt became more electric and new. I wasnât entertaining the fact that there were some feelings left in me for Darius. We werenât mates anymore and Iâm sure the goddess wouldnât hate me so much she would give me the same mate
twice.
âGood morning.â I murmured to no one in particular as I walked into the kitchen. There were three women there and from the past few days that Iâd spent in this mansion, I realized one of them was the cook while the remaining two were housekeepers. No one bothered to answer as usual. I believe Iâd left quite a statement on them the first day we met and they probably think Iâm a stuck-up bit*h. I hate changing peopleâs opinions of me so I try my best to not give an explanation unless it is necessary.
I filled one of the teapots with some hot water while I looked for other ingredients to make breakfast for myself and Reina since it was the weekend and she didnât have school.
âWe already made breakfast. Miss Angela. Making breakfast yourself will only get us in trouble with the Alpha,â One of the women complained.
I scoffed. âTrust me, Iâm sure Darius doesnât give two cents about this. You can relax,â I assured them.
There was an incredible silence in the kitchen. I turned to find the three women glaring furiously at me. I raised an eyebrow wondering what Iâd done wrong this time,
âWhy are you so mannerless?â One of the housekeepers queried and I was taken aback.
âExcuse me?â I spat.
âWho exactly do you think you are? Just because you birthed his child doesnât give you the right to call him by his name. Heâs an alpha and he deserves respect from you,â
My mouth slackened at her words. Before I could say anything else, one of the other women added, âIâm so sure she forced herself on him and now, sheâs forcing him to take responsibility for her child. What a slut!â
âHow else would she have his child without bearing his mark?â
My eyes widened and I did a double take. Another bout of silence descended on the kitchen until the water in the started whistling the more the temperature increased. I folded my hands over my stomach and turned to the water switched off the gas. I already lost my appetite from their mean words but for the sake of my child, I wonât bother to or fight with them.
It was hopeless letting them know that we were once mates and Darius was the one who walked away from the relation Also, I didnât stay at his mansion because I wanted to, but Iâm being forced to.
âSay whatever you want to say, I donât care,â I mumbled under my breath. Unconsciously, I lifted my eyes to the ceiling an at second thought, I decided to have breakfast with Reina at my momâs place. I can stand a few hours of questioning from her than a few minutes of judgment from these people who know absolutely nothing about me.
âGood morning, everybody,â Daisy, Reinaâs nanny, and Betaâs younger sister came into the kitchen looking all sunshine and rainbow. I used the chance to take a proper look at her and 1 almost regretted it. She was beautiful and knew how to put an effort into what she was wearing. For the first time, I felt self-conscious. I hadnât even thought of the word fashion since I had Reina, I was too busy trying to survive.
âMorning. Angela,â She smiled, brightening up the room.
âMorning, Daisy,â

âHowâs Reina?â She asked. The other women in the room acknowledged her, all smiling at her as she walked more into the kitchen. They were ready to be at her beck and call.
âSheâs doing just fine,â
âDo you need anything. Miss Daisy?â The cook asked, almost licking her feet.
âIâm good. I just need to make a light breakfast for myself and Reina,â
âWeâre having breakfast at my momâs place. You shouldnât bother with that,â
She turned and gave me a soft smile. âI think youâll have to change your plans. Iâll be going shopping with her today, didnât Alpha Darius tell you anything?â
What! Did she really just tell me to change my plans for Reina? My child?
âWait! You are going somewhere with my child without informing me and now, I have to change my plans because you said
50,
She smiled again. Her smile was beginning to annoy the crap out of me. âYes! Iâm so sorry Alpha Darius didnât tell you anything but it canât be that bad. You can take her to your momâs place some other day. Iâm sure your mom would understand
1 really didnât want to believe I was listening to exactly what I was listening to or what I was even about to say.
âI donât care. Reina is leaving with me and not you,â I declared. Daisy was already walking up to me with the teapot I used earlier in her hand. She was planning on making some cereals or whatever.
âIâm so sorry Angela, you should take it up with Alpha Darius, not me,â She gave me an innocent look but I could read behind that cute face. She was mocking me.
I held her hand in a bid to make her see reasons but all of a sudden, the kettle dropped to the floor and before I could process the pain of the hot water seeping through my socks to kissing my skin, Daisy screamed.
It wasnât a low, lips-smacking scream but a full-blown one that almost made me close my ear in fear of getting deaf
âWhat the heck?â A new voice demanded. It was Darius together with his Beta and one of their warriors.
âWhat happened?â Charles, the packâs Beta, and my old friend asked me. He moved closer and held me by my f could read from his eyes that he was worried. I shook my head.
âWhat the hell happened here?â Darius asked again, but this time, louder and angrier.
âShe threw hot water on Miss Daisy,â One of the housekeepers replied, pointing at me.
