CHAPTER 156
A Love Reawakened The Alpha’s Regret
Chapter 156
BOOK 2 CHAPTER 20
Rowanâs POV
That afternoon, I 1 was in my office when I heard a slight knock on my door. Whoever it was must have received permission from the warriors at the reception. I thought it might have been Mika or Gideon, but as the knock resounded the second time, I realized it wouldnât be either of those two.
They were too rude to knock twice. They wouldâve barged in without bothering to wait for my instructions.
âCome in,â I ordered. I turned back to the laptop in front of me. I was busy going through some of the packâs monthly updates to see what could be improved. We were increasing in number and there was a dire need to increase the importation of some products.
I was getting closer to a conclusion. A distraction wasnât something I needed at that moment. I hoped whoever it was would make it quick and get the hell out of my office.
Although the door opened like ten seconds ago, I didnât lift up my eyes until I was done with my current page.
âWhat do you want?â I asked the familiar face. I was sure Iâd seen her several times in the pack
âIm Ella, Harrietteâs sister,â she answered.
At the mention of Harrietteâs name, I lifted my head to look at her. Even though she and Harriette shared a few similarities, nothing about them made them look like sisters. They were like two different people trained to look like they were the same person.
âAnd?â I replied nonchalantly. I shouldnât act interested in whoever she was just because she mentioned Harrietteâs name.
âAlpha Rowan, Iâm here to make you an offer, can I sit?â
I chucked. I wish I had a microscope to check where she got that audacity from âKeep standing. Tell me, what offer is this?â She stared at me. I raised an eyebrow and she looked away.
âHarriette is planning to escape the pack tonight,â she revealed.
Even though my facial expression didnât change, I twisted my palm into a tight fist underneath the table.
I shouldâve known something like this would happen after I asked her to come clean about who she was.
âShe told me that you found out we lied about our pack and sheâs planning on leaving,â she explained further.
âShe? Or both of you?â I asked her,
âBoth of us but I donât want us to leave, Alpha Rowan,â
She confessed.
I raised an eyebrow. âHow does this concern me?â
âHarriette is a good asset to your pack and so am I. I believe itâll be a terrible mistake if you allow us to leave. I really like it here. I canât leave and go back to the hellhole we came from,â
She cried.
As I looked at her, there was not a bit of honesty in her. I shouldnât be surprised anyway, she was Harrietteâs âsupposed sister. Lying was one more thing they shared in common.
I smirked. âWhere do I come in with all of these?â I asked her.
âStop
us from escaping,â she declared. What? Did I hear her right? or was I mistaken!
âWhy would I do that? My warriors would be glad to watch you both fry to death as you try to get across the barbed wires,â

he answered. Even though I didnât understand her
answer, I alilit push it further.
âWhat life are you pluming to escape? Lasked her one last question
âMislight,â she answered.
Her willingness to snitch on her sister without rest was suspicious. In fact,
fact, it made her more suspicious than Harriette.
âRemember this later tonight, you stole from me and that is the reason why youâre running. Harriette doesnât know you stole this and she wanted to leave because you begged her to,â she stared at me in confusion lelore it became clear to her.
I brought out a red diamond and gave it to her

She said gently, her
âYou can leave my office now.â
I commanded. As she walked out of the room, I smirked,
Harriette was really planning on escaping because the option of coming clean seemed too far fetched for her. That meant whatever she was trying to hide was crazy.
I took out my phone and stared at the picture of her knife again. I placed my hand underneath my chin and kept staring. Something about that knife was nerveâwracking.
Once it was close to ten night, Mika walked into my
âWe have to patrol the borders,â
I shook my heal. âNot tonight.â
She frowned. âWhy?â
âWeâre going on a hunt. I said with a smirk.
Mika grimmed like a predator. âWho?â
âSomeone stole from me. A girl and her sister,â I informed her.
âSomeone I knowâ
â She rubbard her palons against each other and smirked excitedly. âWhat time!â :
I turned to her. âIn two hours,â
By idnight. Mika. Gideon, and I lay in ambush waiting for Harriette and her sister. What was her name again?
Not long after that, they both walked out of their building, looking around to see if anything or anyone was around.
They soon both took different routes.
Tll go after Harriette, you both go after Ella,â
Gideon instructed. Both Mika and I turned to him and I raised an eyebrow.
âWhat did I do this time?â Gideon asked, looking guilty and scared.
âWhy are you giving out instructions as if weâre your subordinates?â Mika asked.
Gideon bowed. âIm sorry, Alpha,â
âMention Harrietteâs name again and Iâll glue your lips together,â
1 threatened as I walked after Harriette.
After I brought her back from the border to my office, her wound was my major concern. All the drama her sister pulled didnât bother me as much as the wound.
Weâd set poisoned silver close to the border because of intruders and I didnât believe Harriette would be one of the victims. It made me almost regret my decision of putting those things at the border.
As soon as I dismissed the rest, I attended to her. I brought out the knife so I could get the poison out.
Harriette lost consciousness. I picked her up and took her to my apartment so she could heal better and faster.
âAlpha Rowan,â Mika called from the other end of the door.
I flung my door open. Her eyes traced the blood on my shirt.
âItâs not mine. Whatâs going on?â
âThe Werewolf King is here,â
Rowanâs POV
âThe werewolf king is here.â
Mika repeated the second time since she didnât get a reaction from me the first time.
That happened because I wasnât expecting him in my pack at this time of the day. I turned back to look at the grannyâs clock in my apartment. It was almost two in the morning.
âRowan.
I glared at her. âWhat?â
âI said the werewolf..â
âI heard you the first time, I told her. I heard her perfectly well both times. I just didnât know how to react to the news of my father being in my father even after I told him not to come.
âWe have to meet him at the gates. We canât just let him come in like that,â
I fucking hated that man more than my life. I hated my life quite a lot but I hated the king more.
âGet all the warriors to the gate, I instructed
What about Harriette?â
âSheâs wounded. Release her sister and make her stay here with Harriette for the next few hours, Mika raised an eyebrow. She was probably surprised at the fact that Harriette was in my room.
âOkay, Alpha,â
She sent out a mind link to every one of our warriors. Including those on duty and those off duty. A number of them joined Mika and me as we marched towards the gate.
âWe canât turn him back, Alpha Rowan, Mika advised on our way.
âWhat if I do?â I spat.
âWe would be disrespecting the werewolf king and that might lead to war. Remember when you started this place, you promised you wouldnât have to spill the blood of these rogues at any point just to keep the foundation strong. I know you and Thome want blood but please, letâs do this the right way.â
She explained. I ignored her and kept walking
True to my intuition, my father wasnât alone. He was with several people that might exceed twenty. There was no way in hell Iâd allow all of them in and starve my people.
Immediately the gates were opened, I stepped out. My father also stepped out of his car. He removed the scarf he used to cover his face and came right to me.
âIâm guessing your people at the palace donât know youâre here,â I asked, pointing at the disguise.
âNot everything should be told,â he answered.
âYou shouldâve called. Weâre not in the medieval era,â I spat.
He nodded and chuckled. âI did but my son refused to pick up my call.â
That was true. Iâd been ignoring his calls for a while. I didnât want him in my pack. Even though he wasnât invited or wanted, he still made his way here.
âText messages?â I asked.
âIf you didnât pick up my calls, why would you reply to my texts
He answered sarcastically.
The Werewolf King was one of those people who deemed himself intelligent and would want to show off at every opportunity they gut.
âWhy are you here?â I asked.
âTo discuss something with you. Will you allow me into yourâ¦â he stopped, looking confused..
âRogue pack, you can say it. It wonât kill you or make you any less of a king.â
I answered angrily.
He growled. âAllow me into your pack,â he finished his statement.
I looked to see his men behind him.
âTheyâre too many. My people would starve if I let them all in,â
âThatâs no problem. They can stay at a nearby hotel in one of the human towns. How many can you take?â He asked.
âThree,â I answered.
âSeven, Rowan,â
âFive and thatâs the most I can do,â I said through gritted teeth.
âFive it is,â
I walked back into my pack and his chief security guy picked four other men to enter into the pack with them.
âHow old is your dad again, he looks so young?â
Mika whispered behind me. I turned to glare at her. My father had me when he was eighteen. He was young but he was a prince. That was a deadly combination. He never owned up to the responsibility. He left me for whoever was ready to take care of me and that exposed me to a lot of things.
Not for once did he look back.
Until now.
The craziest thing was I was his exact carbon copy. We could pass for twins since he refused to look his age and I looked exactly my age.
âIâm sure youâve missed me,â He said before he entered his car.
I squinted my eyes at him and thank goodness he was fast and smart enough to enter the car, I wouldâve broken the hand he placed on my shoulder.
One of our cars led their two cars to my house. Aside from the apartment I used at the Alphaâs building. I had my own personal residence ten buildings away from the administration building.
Reluctantly, I joined him in my house.
I dropped my car keys loudly on the dining table and turned to him. He was looking around the house while his security details walked around to see if it was safe.
I snorted.
âThis is a good house,â
It complimented.
I scoffed. âStop pretending. Since when did you care about fucking shit like that?â I spat.
Language, Rowan,â he cautioned.
