CHAPTER 158
A Love Reawakened The Alpha’s Regret
Chapter 158
Rowanâs POV
âSomething is wrong with Harriette, That was all I needed before I rushed out of the house and headed for where Starrette was I grabbed my car key before leaving.
What could be wrong? What couldâve gone wrong? Those were the questions that ran through my head as I rushed into my t and started the engine.
âWhatâs wrong?â Mika asked as she jumped into my car uninvited.
1 donât know,â I replied honestly.
Before I left my apartment, I made sure to check on Harriette, She was doing just fine. She was unconscious but the breathing fine. I was able to remove the poison and the bad blood. Nothing else should ve gone wrong
Within the blink of an eye, although it felt like ten years, I arrived at my apartment. I threw the door open and rushed into my
room. Gideon and Ella were both in the
Ella was in tears while Gideon had entered a full panic mood,
Harriette was on the bed writhing and murmuring some incoherent words. Her body jerked uncontrollably in pain. She was sweating so badly. I could see the blood beneath her feet. When I checked her wound, I realized she was still bleeding through the bandage.
âHave you called the doctor? I asked.
Gideon shook his head. âNot yet, I wanted to get your permission first,
I bit down on
my
tongue as I l
as I glared at him..
âCall the damn doctor, I commanded.
He bowed slightly and walked out of the room, almost hitting Mika squarely on the shoulder.
âHow did this start?â I asked Ella.
She was still in tears. Ones that I was sure were crocodile tears. You donât snitch on your sister one minute and then cry because she was hurt.
âWe came here to find her sleeping, All of a sudden, she just screamed and that was when it all started;
âYou didnât do anything to her and she just started screaming Mika asked suspiciously.
âYes, The girl cried.
Mika nodded while staring at me trying to read my expression.
I sat close to the window in an attempt to stop myself from acting stupid. Everything inside of me wanted me to hug Harriette, hold her, and help her through whatever she was going through, but I couldnât do that when everyone was present.
It w
was impossible for me to do that.
Minutes later, Gideon arrived with the doctor. The doctor checked up on Harriette.
âShe has a wound. She stepped on poisoned silver, I managed to extract the poison but I donât know if it might have affected her
The doctor nodded and continued her work.
âWhatever is wrong with her isnât medical,â he began talking. I raised an eyebrow while staring at her as though the suddenly Krew two heads.
11-14 AM
Chupter 158
âWhat do you mean by that?â I interrupted her.
âHas she gotten her wolf?â He asked.
I turned to Harrietteâs sister. She was a bit reluctant before she suddenly shook her head.
âShe can only shift when itâs necessary,â she answered.
What the fuck does that even mean? What the fuck was ânecessary?
âI believe her body is currently midâshifting. She and her wolf are kind of lighting for dominance. Had it been tonight was full moon, it would be easier for her wolf to shift but since itâs not, thereâs absolutely nothing that can be done to help her 1 believe by morning, she should be fine,â
The doctor explained further. She said a lot of things that made sense but somehow, she lost me along the way.
âAnd if she doesnât get better by morning?â Ella asked.
âBring her to the hospital. The worst that can happen to her is memory loss or brain damage,â
âIn simpler terms, sheâs fighting her body from shifting, right?â
I asked.
The doctor nodded. âYes, Alpha. Her wolf mightâve wanted to help with the pain, and doesnât know how to since they shift when itâs necessary,â She pointed to Ella regarding what sheâd said earlier.
âIt wouldâve helped if her mate was nearby, Close proximity might help her through her selfâinflicted problem, The doctor made a joke but it wasnât funny. I frowned at her and she quickly apologized.
âThat was stupid.â
âGood thing you know,â Mika growled.
The doctor gathered her little equipment, ready to leave. I mindâlink Gideon to export her back to the clinic.
âMake sure she understands the repercussions of discussing what she saw or heard tonight with someone else, I added through the mindâlink.
Gideon nodded and they left together.
âElla,â Mika suddenly called. Ella looked up. She was holding Harrietteâs hand tightly.
âYes, Commander Mika,â
âWhile we wait for Harritee to get better, why donât you and I take some fresh air and talk more?â Mika suggested. Her act was suspicious to me and I wondered what she was trying to do.
Ella shook her head, âI donât want to leave her, she cried.
I scoffed. The love she had was so genuine she didnât mind snitching on her sister. I would like to know what was going on through Ellaâs mind.
âCome on, you need it, Mika pressed.
âNo, I think..â
Mika hissed before she switched from a nice person to the Commander Mika that I knew.
âGet off your sorry ass and get out of here with me. Donât make me ask again, she threatened.
Ella was surprised at the change of tone and she couldnât hide it. âOkay,â
As they left, Mika connected with me through the mindâlink.
âTake your time, Rowan. I donât care if sheâs your mate or not. Just do your thing.
Turked.
11:14 ÐÐ
I shoul Iâve known that was why she pestered Ella to leave the room. I locked the door as soon as I heard the front door open
I walked to Harriette and sat beside her. I took the wet cloth and cleaned up some of her sweat and tears that had mixed together.
As soon as my hand touched her skin, Harriette grabbed my hand and she calmed down a bit.
âMy name is Harriette. My name is Harriette, she repeated.
I frowned. It sounded as though she was trying to convince herself that her name was Harriette
âIm sorry, Mother. My name is Harriette,â
She cried again.
I held her tightly and she whispered, her heavy sobbing reducing.
âHarriette, what went wrong? What happened to you?â
I asked as I pushed strands of her hair away from her face.
She suddenly grabbed my hand tighter than before.
âI donât know who I am. Who am I? Mother, she suddenly asked, her eyes tightly shut.
âYouâre whoever youâre meant to be. You donât have to be Harriette or whoever this Mother wanted you to be. Donât forget your true self. Thatâs more important. Youâre strong, courageous, and super smart. You can fight this, I promise you that.â
The next morning came.
I only had two hours of sleep all through the night. I opened my eyes to realize that Harriette was not on the bed anymore. I panicked but calmed down almost immediately when I saw her standing close to the window.
âWhat are you doing there?â I asked her.
She stared at me as if searching for something. Thorne,â she called.
1 frowned. Where was that coming from?
âNo. Rowan,â I answered.
She smiled so brightly the morning sun mustâve been jealous of her radiant smile. âGoodâ Youâre finally back, she answered. Harriette looked more bubbly than usual. Something was definitely wrong. I walked closer to her and touched her forehead. âAs the car crashed into the mountain yesterday, I thought I was going to die but thanks to my super genes. Iâm still alive? I blinked
She answered joyfully
That was four days ago, Harriette,â
I answered
Her happy smule slipped off her face. âNo, that was yesterday afternoon, right?â
Righ She asked again
