CHAPTER 168
A Love Reawakened The Alpha’s Regret
Chapter 168
BOOK 2: CHAPTER 38
Angelaâs POV
âUntil when are you planning on staying over there, Angela?â My mother asked on the phone.
There was a bit of silence on the other end of the line before she asked that question. I just gave her an update about everything that had happened so far but I wasnât expecting that question from her.
âUntil she comes around, mom. Iâve waited for her for more than twelve years and Iâll keep on waiting. I wouldnât mind waiting another twelve years,â
I answered quickly. My heart broke into pieces when Reina went missing and it took a long time before I could get myself back together. She was my better half and she was more than a daughter.
She was priceless. She was with me at my lowest and she was also a ray of sunshine in my darkness after I had her. Losing her was the worst thing that had ever happened to me and having her back is the best thing ever though she couldnât recognize
Yet!
âI understand you, Angela but I also want to remind you that you have two other children waiting for you here,â
My mother said, referring to Layla and Liam
âI know and Iâm sure they can manage a few days without me,â
âTheyâre twelve, Angela. Twelve. They need you the most at this stage of their lives and youâre abandoning them,â
I was beginning to get frustrated. âIâm not abandoning them. Iâm leaving for just a few days,â
âHow many days?â She asked again.
That was the question that kept breaking me because I didnât have an answer to it. âI donât know Mom, I honestly donât know,â
I confessed. One part of my heart was in this rogue pack while the other part was back at home. I also wanted to
go
back to my twins but at the same time, I wanted to stay back, spend more time with Reina, and help her remember at least something.
âWhy donât you discuss with Darius and bring Reina home instead of staying over there with her?â
She asked.
I clicked my tongue in annoyance. âShe doesnât remember us. Have you been listening?â
âYes, Angela. Yes! But you need to remember that she was six. She was literally a baby. How is she supposed to remember you? Give her evidence, show her something to let her know sheâs your child, and then, bring her home,â
âMom! Itâs not that easy. Sheâsâ¦â
I paused, thinking twice about telling my mother how traumatized Reina was.
How strangely she acted and how her wolf was absent.
That afternoon, I had also brought up the issue of talking her into leaving with us but Darius believed it would be better and helpful for her if she was closer to her mate.
The same mate she doesnât even recognize.
âSheâs what, Angela?â
âNothing Mom,â I answered, biting down on my bottom lip.
âGrandma, is that my mom on the phone,?â
I smiled as I heard my daughterâs voice. She was probably sleepy because of how her words were slurred. I shouldâve been 1/2

more concerned about how she was still awake at this time of the night but instead, I was glad I got to hear her voice.
âCan I say hi to my mom?â
âYes, please,â I quickly responded.
My mom gave her the phone.
âI miss you, mama. Goodnight,â
âI miss you too baby,â I laughed once my brain processed how she said goodnight so quickly and passed the phone to my
mom.
Layla loved her beauty sleep more than anything. In fact, she loved it more than those designer bags and food.
I said goodbye to my mom and ended the call before she could ask me anything else.
A knock resounded on the door. I opened it to see it was Mason.
âHello, Mason,â
âAngela. Whereâs Darius?â
I pointed to the balcony. âHeâs busy making a phone call. Whatâs wrong? You look worried,â
He nodded frantically. I opened the door wider so he could
come in.
âWhatâs wrong?â I asked.
âSomething strange is going on with Harriette but I need to talk to you and Darius about itâ
Hearing it was about Harriette, I walked to the balcony and tapped Darius on the shoulder. He turned to me. I could see he also looked worried.
âWhatâs wrong, love?â He asked, touching my face gently.
âMason is here. He said itâs about Harriette,â
Darius ended the call abruptly without saying goodbye to the person on the other end of the line. I frowned at him.
That was rude but I wasnât surprised. It was typical Darius.
We both walked back in to talk to Mason.
âWhatâs going on, Mason?â He asked.
Mason folded his hands in his pocket. âYou know how we planned on waiting while we slowly allow the matebond between Rowan and Harriette to fix her wolf?â He asked.
Darius and I shared a look before we nodded.
âYeah, that is the plan,â
Mason shook his head. âWe shouldnât do that anymore,â
âWhy?â
âI talked to Harriette,â
âHow?â I asked.
âDreamwalking,â Mason replied casually.
Ooh! I forgot that was their thing for a minute. How did I forget so quickly?
âFirst off, Harriette is Dreamwalking wrongly. That was what I tried to warn you about years ago before she disappeared. However, that might be because she has zero connection with her wolf and not have anything to do with training. But as far as Dreamwalking is concerned, itâs all wrong. Secondly, which is the worst thing ever, I think your daughter has been

brainwashed,â
+5
I frowned. âBrainwashed, how?â I asked before Darius could.
âI donât think Reina was kidnapped out of spite or revenge. I believe whoever kidnapped her did so for a particular reason. This girl is out here with a whole lot of horrible beliefs in her head. The worst thing is, she believes in whoever told her those things. The Reina I know had a strong mind even as a child. Whatever they did to her to turn her into that mustâve been cruel, tormenting, and dark. Sheâs not the Reina we know. Sheâs not normal. Something is definitely wrong,â
Mason said all at once and took a deep breath.
Iâd noticed the same thing but I didnât know it was that bad.
âWhat do you suggest we do?â I asked both Darius and Mason.
âWe force Rowan to mark her,â
Mason announced.
âWhat the heck are you even talking about? Why would we do such a ridiculous thing? How are we even supposed to force a Rogue god? He has the mind of a donkey,â I angrily spat, referring to his stubbornness.
âHeâs her key, her trigger. Heâs the only reason why she began Dreamwalking. Heâs the only one who can help us fix her mind. At least. Itâs either that or we keep hoping she comes around but according to everything I heard tonight from her, it would take us a century to bring her back,â
âWe wonât force him. Thatâs barbaric, Mason. You used to be the reasonable one,â Darius suddenly said.
âI know but Iâm just scared if we donât do something, Reina might never get better,â
âRowanâs reluctant about the matebond and I think itâs because she doesnât recognize him. Weâll make him come around without directly telling him to,â
âHarriette likes him. Iâve seen her watching him,â I added.
âMaybe I can use a bit of my gift to help him,â
âDonât you even think about that shit,â Darius warned Mason.
âFine! Then, what are you doing? How are we doing this?â
Darius looked at Mason and I. âLetâs play matchmakers. The old, traditional way,â
