CHAPTER 169
A Love Reawakened The Alpha’s Regret
Chapter 169
BOOK 2: CHAPTER 39
Harrietteâs POV
âThorne,â I called out in shock. I wasnât expecting to see that ruthless bastard anytime soon. He left me crazy and dead angry the last time we met and now he was back like never before.
âYou can see me,â I added.
âIâm not blind, sweetheart. Missed me?â He asked again with a grin on his face.
I frowned. âNope,â I snapped while glaring at him.
âAww, someoneâs mad at me,â
I looked around to make sure nobody else was there.
âYou almost killed me the last time,â
âYou started it. If you hadnât mentioned his name, we wouldnât have almost died. Moreover, the accident wasnât my fault. It was his,â he pointed at his face. âYou called him out and as usual, he couldnât handle the shock. Get mad at him for trying to kill you, not me,â he explained.
I glared at him before my lips arched in disgust. âTrying to shift the blame now, arenât we?â
âGetting too smart mouth with me now, arenât you?â He asked. I suddenly remembered how he acted the last time. He was different from Rowan. He was crazier and more daring.
He moved closer to me and I moved back. The fact that he could see me in this state was alarming enough. I couldnât afford him touching me because of what happened the last time Rowan touched me.
I wouldnât want him waking up with the same mark as me again.
âWhy are you back?â I asked, trying to change the conversation so he could stop looking at me as though I was his prey. I knew the last time I promised I would break his bones the next time I saw him. Now, I couldnât fulfill that promise.
âThis coward couldnât handle another shock. Guess what? Itâs not new,â
He answered.
He rested his back against the wall and stared down at him.
âWhat shock?â I asked him, suddenly curious.
âIâm not telling you although it has to do with you,â
I rolled my eyes but stopped when I heard him mention me. I pointed to myself.
âMe? Why? What did I do?â
He shrugged. âYouâre not hearing it from me,â
I raised an eyebrow. âFine!â I answered.
âThis thing, what is it called?â He pointed at me.
ââDreamwalking and youâre not supposed to see me,â
âYeah, right,â he scoffed and continued scrutinizing me.
âIâm not sure this is how Dreamwalking is supposed to work. Youâre in the present,â he said.
I frowned deeply. âPresent? Am I not supposed to be in the present?â I asked.
He tutted in disappointment. âYouâre as broken as he is, arenât you?â

âWhat are you talking about?â
âYou and Rowan are truly the perfect fit. Two broken dolls waiting for Mommy to fix them,â he said in annoyance. âThe moon goddess must be a crazy bitch for thinking you were right for us,â
My tongue suddenly became tied. I didnât even know what to say. I couldnât make sense of anything he said so asking questions was impossible for me.
He suddenly turned and started walking away.
âWhat did you mean by I was doing this dreamwalking thing wrongly?â I asked him.
âAsk Rowan by morning. Heâs the smart one,â he yelled.
His steps got faster and I managed to keep up with him.
âStop following me,â
âFine! Iâll stop following you if you tell me why Rowan is as broken as I am,â I yelled at him.
He stopped walking and turned to me. âThatâs his story to tell not mine,â
âWell, I want to know,â I folded my hand against my chest and yelled at him.
âConsider yourself lucky that youâre in your dreamwalking state. I wouldâve loved to try and strangle the life out of you for yelling at me,â
He gave me his evil smirk and I felt goosebumps on my skin.
I moved back away from him.
âGood girl!â He whispered. âWe had a discussion last time, didnât we? Iâm still waiting for you to do what you promised,â
I shook my head. âI didnât promise anything,â I answered.
âI guess you have temporary memory loss because I can clearly remember you promising to kill him. Donât disappoint me, sweetheart.â
My feet were rooted to the floor as I watched him leave.
The following morning, I woke up and went in search of Alpha Rowan. I wanted to make sure he was back to being Rowan and
not Thorne.
Why do you even care? Youâre not supposed to care about this guy. Youâre supposed to be planning on killing him.
My subconscious reminded me.
I pushed the thoughts to the back of my mind.
When I saw Alpha Rowan, he was training with both Mika and Gideon. The first thing I noticed was how his eyes were back to normal. I took a deep breath of relief. He was back to normal.
I waited for them to be done before I approached him.
I walked up to him with a smile as I followed him when he entered his private locker room.
He removed his shirt and I swallowed hard. I hid my fingers behind my back as I twirled them around nervously. My face became hot when I remembered what happened the last time I saw him naked.
He was about to remove his pants when he suddenly looked at me.
âWhat do you want?â
He asked harshly.
I had a dazed look on my face and I unconsciously let out a low gasp. âI wanted to see how you were doing.â
He frowned, âWhy?â He spat.

I swallowed hard. âI spoke to Thorne last night,â
The frown on his face deepened. âWhat did I tell you about Thorne? I warned you, didnât I? Youâre supposedâ¦â he suddenly stopped.
He smirked. âYeah, right. I forgot. Thorne should be scared of you instead,â
He removed his trousers and I felt
my hand trembling behind my back.
Was I excited? Or was I scared?
âUhm? Thorne told me to ask you more about Dreamwalking,â
I said.
âI know nothing about it. Ask somebody else,â he dismissed me harshly.
I sucked in a deep breath as I felt my heart tightening.
âDid something bad happen?â I asked him.
âGet out of here, Harriette,â
âIâm a bit worried about you. Thorne said something yesterday night and â¦â
He turned to me, making me swallow the rest of my words. His eyes were bloodshot with anger.
âWhy should you be worried about me? Tell me one reason why you should be concerned, Harriette, just one,â he asked angrily.
âBecause⦠becauseâ¦â I stopped when I found no right words to tell him.
Why was I worried about him? I should be doing the complete opposite of this but instead, I keep finding myself pulled to him by some invisible force.
Over and Over again!
âDonât tempt me, Harriette. I beg you. Iâm this close, so close to rejecting you and I promise you that it would be the most traumatic experience of your life,â
