Rowan’s POV

For the past few days , my mind has been a complete mess . It was like if a switch in my head had been going on and off . One minute, I was Rowan , the next minute , I was Thorne , and two minutes after that , I was back to being Rowan .

After I found out Harriette’s real identity and why she was really in my pack , things went out of hand after that day for me . One thing I was grateful for was the fact that The King left the following morning .

He didn’t get to witness the insanity he called a son .

Aside from leaving the pack behind because of the things that happened to me , there was also one more reason that wasn’t hidden from the people close to me .

If the people of the palace found out that I had two personalities , I would be locked up in a mental institution forever and that way , I wouldn’t even dream of ever becoming a king .

To save everyone the headache , I left the palace forever .

But I was not able to leave behind the demon that lived inside of me called Thorne .

As I received a call through the intercom informing me of the arrival of Luna Angela and Harriette , I put up every fight in me

to stay healthy and pushed Thorne to the back of my head to avoid him resurfacing again and again .

” I was about to pay your husband a visit , ” I said out of nowhere . I never had that plan before but the moment Luna Angela walked into my office to demand that I tell Harriette we were mates , I almost lost it .

That was Thorne’s demand too . He wanted me to tell her and he’d only stopped himself from telling her because of the deal we made .

Hearing that alone was enough to rile him up and bring him out of the invisible cage I locked him in .

” About what ?” Luna Angela asked .

” To tell him you all are no longer welcome in this pack , including your alleged daughter , ” I spat .

I grabbed hold of the chair’s arm to keep myself in order. From the look on Luna’s face, I could tell she mindlinked with her husband.

The look on Harriette’s face tore my heart into pieces and almost made me choke. I quickly looked away from her just to stay

sane.

I didn’t mean to hurt her. Shit! Fuck! I didn’t even want to hurt her. The look in her eyes made me doubt her intentions towards me for a minute. It killed me to do that but I didn’t have a choice.

It was the best way to get rid of her without actually getting rid of her. I was supposed to arrest her, torture her, and imprison her the normal standard way but I couldn’t do that to her.

I knew I was a strong wolf hut taking her through that would probably break me and Thorne would run mad.

He doesn’t hate the fact that Harriette was here to kill me. In fact, it made him love and want her more, and not so secretly, he was rooting for her.

A knock soon resounded on the door and Alpha Darius walked in. I was expecting his brother with him but it was only Alpha Darius.

“You wanted to see me,” Alpha Darius asked before he went ahead to kiss his wife’s forehead.

I shrugged. “Your wife must’ve misinterpreted my words. I said I was about to go see you. Who am I to call a first–rank Alpha into my office? I’m just a Rogue Alpha,”

Alpha Darius snorted. “Yeah, aside from that, you’re the future king. I might be first–rank Alpha but right above that order are you and your father,”

It was my turn to snort. “I wouldn’t become the king even if my life depended on it,”

“Your father said…”

I interrupted him. “Talk him out of it. I’m never leaving this pack and neither am I becoming a stupid king,”

I told him.

He nodded slowly, taking in all I’d said.

“Why am I here then?”

“I’m being suffocated in my own pack by y’all presence. When are you leaving?”

I asked.

He cocked his eyebrow, almost in disbelief at what I said.

“You’re throwing us out of your pack,” he asked, wanting to be sure of my intentions.

I shrugged. “I didn’t say it like that but if you did, you’re not totally wrong,”

“Alpha Rowan!” He growled.

I smirked. I knew I was looking for trouble with the way I was handling things but my head wasn’t even in the right place for me to make the right decision.

“Like I said, I’m getting suffocated. When are you leaving?”

As I asked again, Harriette let out a sound that finally broke me. It was a strangled, wrenching noise that seemed to express her heartbreak, as though she was fighting to hold back tears but a force beyond her control made the sound escape her.

She ran out of the room. Luna Angela ran after her.

If I didn’t know better, I would’ve presumed that Harriette wasn’t who I knew her to be. I would say she was truly hurt by what I said but no, that was probably a pretense.

Something to make me change my mind and ask her to stay in my pack.

No! I wouldn’t budge. I might not be a big fan of my life but still, I wouldn’t just wait back and allow her to kill me.

I squinted my eyes. “Why are you so worried about that? When you walked into this pack the first time, wasn’t your intention to leave with your daughter?” I asked him.

“Yes but not this way,”

He answered.

“She likes you!” He suddenly added.

I didn’t bother listening to what he said after that because I started laughing.

“Yeah, right. She does,” more like she wanted to kill me.

He stared at me as though I was insane. Of course, I was.

“Why are you doing this?” He asked. Honestly, Alpha Darius was presenting himself to me as a reasonable man, and from all I heard about him, he wasn’t supposed to be.

“Did you hear about Alpha Caleb? The Alpha who got killed in his pack two days ago and had his heart ripped out,” I asked him.

” What does that have to do with this ? ”

I smiled . ” That wouldn’t make sense to you now but one day it will . For the sake of everyone , you all need to get out of my pack before I lose my shit , ” I spat .

Thorne was getting close to the edge and I was doing my best to stop him .

He threw one hand in his pocket as he walked towards me .

” Fine , we will leave in the next two to three days but for the sake of a proper goodbye , do me in favor ,”
