CHAPTER 27
A Love Reawakened The Alpha’s Regret
Chapter 27
Darius
âAlpha Darius,â Daisy cried as soon as I stepped into the room where she was admitted at the hospital. She had a bandage around her arm. I still donât understand what couldâve transpired between the two but Angela had no right to hurt this girl.
She had been nothing but sweet and nice to Reina. Iâve been thinking of ways to show my appreciation to her but I guess Angela had to pay her one way or the other.
âHow are you feeling?â
I asked. I threw my hands in my pocket and stood by the foot of her bed.
âIt hurts, Alpha Darius,â I gave her a reassuring, sad smile. Iâm sure my late wife would have dug herself out of her grave if she saw Daisy like this, courtesy of my woman.
The doctor came in at that time as well.
âYouâll get better,
âIt was silver, Alpha Darius. Itâll take a while for her to get
get better but sheâll heal. Sheâs a strong girl,â The doctor reassured me.
âSilver?â I echoed that word the same way I heard it.
Where would Angela find silver from? Why would she stab Daisy with a silver dagger? Was it premeditated? What could be
the motive?
âIt was mine. My father gave it to me some months ago. Itâs like family emblem. I always have it with me,â Daisy answered. I nodded, taking in her words. She looked tired, I didnât think to ask her too many questions but I needed to know what happened.
âWhat happened today, Daisy?â
She tried to sit up but she couldnât manage on her own. The doctor had to help her up.
âYou told me this morning that I could take Reina from the school and youâll tell Angela about it.â
Shit! I was too preoccupied to actually tell Angela that Daisy would pick Reina up from school. Shit!
âBut by the time I got to the school, I found out Angela already picked Reina up. So, I went home to confront he she would do something like that,â I sucked in a deep breath.
âYou do know Reina is Angelaâs daughter, right?â I asked Daisy.
She pouted. âI know but you already gave me the go-ahead. Why would she go behind my back to sabotage my plant
1 folded my palm tightly. Daisy was getting it all wrong. Even if I gave her the go-ahead, Reina was still Angelaâs daughte She doesnât have the right to confront Angela about her daughter
âPlease continue,â
âSo, she told me her daughter wasnât my business. I asked her where Reina was but she refused to tell me. I asked again and she threatened to stab me if I asked her one more time. I was worried for Reina, you know how Angela can be crazy sometimes. She stabbed me when I asked again,â
âJust like that?â The female doctor asked echoing my thoughts exactly.

âYes,â she nodded.
âWow, what a story,â I turned to the doctor who quickly muttered an apology and walked out of the room leaving Daisy and me. Her story wasnât straightforward or adding up but I trust Daisy to an extent. I knew she meant well and would never do anything to endanger the lives of those around her. She even cried when she lost her dog once.
âYou should get some sleep, Daisy. Iâll check up on you later,â
ou trust m
me.
Thank you.â She relaxed back into the bed. Before I could walk out of the room, she called my name, âDo you Alpha Darius?â
I gave her a small smile. âOf course, Iâve known you for years. I know what you can or canât do,â
1 assured her. She gave me a big smile and closed her eyes to sleep.
After finding out from Daisy that Reina wasnât with Angela, I tried finding out her whereabouts but it almost proved impossible. That was because I didnât look for her in the first place I shouldâve looked for her. Her momâs place.
1 stood on the front porch and knocked, hoping Reina was there The door was thrown open by the same person I was looking for. My daughter!
âUncle D,â she shrieked as if she had been waiting for me all my life.
âHey baby,â I bent down and she threw her arms around my neck. I thought she was hugging me but when her legs wrapped around me. I carried her just as she wanted. The bond I shared with Reina had grown tremendously even though weâve known each other for the past month
âWhereâs grandma?â
Her head was buried in my shoulder. She didnât answer me with words, instead, she pointed towards the kitchen.
I decided to follow where she was pointing to. âWhoâs there, Princess?â Angelaâs mom asked.
âI am,â I replied. The woman turned to us from her stove. âHello Alpha Darius,â
âHello,â
âI was just preparing dinner for Reina and me. Her mom wants her to spend the night here,â
âNo!â Reina mumbled. It was more like a whisper but I think this sleepover was not something she wanted.
I caressed her hair, then cupped her head so she could look up a me. As our eyes met, tears rolled down her flushed chee Her nose burped.
âReina, whatâs wrong?â Her grandma asked before I could. I was short of words. I thought her laughter would be the end of me but her tears stabbed me in the heart, tore me apart, and brought me to my knees.
She didnât answer her grandma. She kept on staring at me. I had to find the words, I just had to find the courage to ask the
words.
âWhatâs wrong baby?â
âI want to go home. Manna is sick. Sheâs not fine,â She cried, throwing her head into my shoulder and wailing again. What was Ree talking about? Angela was fine. I saw her minutes ago.
âYour momâs fine, Angela. I saw her some minutes ago,â I assured her, patting her hair..
âSheâs lying. Sheâs sick,â

âWhy would you say that, Reina?â
âShe threw up and her body was hot. She said I shouldnât tell grandma about it,â
I nodded. My brain reminded me of Angelaâs look earlier. It wasnât guilt, it wasnât fear. Something else was eating her up.
âOkay! It would help if you stayed with grandma. I promise to take care of your mama, alright?â
âPromise?â
âOf course. I promise,â I kissed her forehead and she leaned back into me. I had to calm her down for a little longer before dinner. She didnât want to let me go but reluctantly, she did.
On getting back home, I didnât bother knocking on Reinaâs door again because I knew Angela wouldnât open it. I brought out the spare key and opened the door. Nibbles wasnât in Reinaâs room so I went to check her room. She was there, lying in the darkness on the bed, covered with the duvet.
âNibbles.â She was sweating a bucket and whispering. I couldnât Hear what she was saying but her mouth was moving. âBaby,â I held her shoulder to shake her so she could wait up but instead she cried out.
âDonât touch me, please, donât touch me,â
