CHAPTER 29
A Love Reawakened The Alpha’s Regret
Chapter 29
Darius
The next morning. I was able to wake up before Angela. That allowed me to take a better look at her face. Although her eyes. were swollen and her mouth rounded into a pink, pretty pout, she was still as beautiful as sunset. I pushed a strand of hair away from her eyes to the back of her car and when my finger touched her skin, she let out a deep breath and I could see a sparkle of light underneath my fingertips. A smile crept its way to my lip. One I hadnât found the strength to do in a long time. Since Reina and Angela came into my life, I stopped finding it difficult to smile,
I got up from the bed, and left her room just in time to find Rema back in her room. She was struggling to put on her school uniform. She was as stubborn as Angela, asking the people at home for help would be difficult for her.
âShould I help you with that?â I asked, interrupting her fighting-for-life moment.
She looked up at me with those lights in her eyes but no smile for me this morning. âI can do it,â She snapped.
I surrendered and laughed. âOkay, little miss independent,â I said and that got her to smile at me.
âGood morning, Uncle D.â
âMorning Ree. I kissed her cheeks and moved back, giving her space and a chance to continue the struggle with her
uniform
âHow did you get here?â I asked.
âGrandma took me. Sheâs waiting for me.â I nodded. Her grandma must be waiting for her downstairs. I rubbed the back of
my ear.
âDid you perhaps tell your grandma you could dress yourself for school?â She turned to me, frowning.
âI can do it.â She insisted.
âI know you can but getting a little bit of help doesnât hurt. You know that, right?â She sighed loudly and I almost questioned my daughterâs age
âFine, can you help me?â She asked.
âOf course,â I quickly got to work, and adjusted the dress from front to back like it was supposed to be. Once I was done also helped her with her shoes and socks.
By the time we were done, I allowed her to go say hi to Angela. I couldnât stop laughing when I saw her sneaking out of the room a few seconds after she went in.
*Mama is still sleeping. I guess she used one of those drugs again
I raised an eyebrow. âWhat drugs?â
âThe little pink ones. They let her sleep. Is she fine?â
Iâm sure she was still worried about Angela I donât know what she saw that scared her that much yesterday but it would be cruel to scare her even more.
âSheâs doing perfect. Your mama is fine.â
âThank you for taking care of her, Uncle Dâ
âItâs my jobâ I told her She nodded. âWould you love for Daisy to pick you up from school?â

Her demeanor suddenly changed. âNo, mama will,â She snapped again. A frown became etched on my face as I took in her reaction but before I could ask her why she said that, she ran down the stairs into her grandmaâs arms and waved at me before both of them walked out of the house. I couldnât even bring myself to wave back at her.
I walked into the kitchen to make breakfast for myself and Angela. It was supposed to be something light; some scrambled eggs, pancakes, and milk. As I started cooking, the chef walked in.
âAlpha,â
âGive me a few minutes, Iâll leave the kitchen for you. I just need to make some breakfast,â
She smiled sheepishly making me wonder what was going through her head. âI can cook anything you want. You donât have to do that yourself, thatâs why Iâm here.â She argued.
I wasnât about to have her make the meal. I can make a meal by myself for my woman. Iâd learned to survive all alone after my father threw me out of this house when I was fourteen. He was done with the troubles I came along with and instead of hitting me as usual, he threw me out.
âDonât make me repeat myself, chef. I can do this and I can do it just fine, you should leave while Iâm asking nicely,â I threatened. I realized through the years that when I ask nicely, it doesnât speak so much of me but when I threaten, it speaks volumes.
âApologies Alpha, Iâll take my leave now.â
I hummed, not saying a word to her anymore. âIâll tell Miss Daisy to meet you here,â she suggested before leaving. I c*cked my head, trying to make sense of her words. I donât remember asking her to call Daisy or even mentioning Daisy at all Before I could ask her for clarification, she was out of my sight. I pushed it to the back of my head and continued making breakfast. I was almost done and all that was left was dishing it out when Daisy bounced into the kitchen.
She had been discharged from the hospital. âDo you feel better? She nodded.
âMy hand still hurts a little but Iâll be better before noon. Thank you, Alpha Darius,â
I nodded, taking a good look at her. Iâve been trying to wrap my head around the possibility of what the truth about what happened yesterday could be. Could she have hurt herself on purpose to blame Angela? Or could Angela have really stabbed
her?
âAlpha,â A new voice called out. I turned to the door and saw Charles standing with Azalea. Charles had an annoyed look on his face while Azalea looked rather confused, which was rare.
âWhatâs going on?â I asked.
âThere has been a new development. The elders heard about how Angela stabbed Daisy and theyâre calling for her arrest,â
âWhat?â I asked in disbelief.
âThey want her to be punished based on the rules of the pack, Azalea explained
âWhich are!â
âThree days in prison or be prepared to allow Daisy stab her,â
