CHAPTER 70
A Love Reawakened The Alpha’s Regret
Chapter 70
Angelaâs POV
âShit!â
âF*ckâ
âGoddamnitâ
âF*ckâ
I heard all sorts of profanities and curses spew out of the mouths of the two people entangled on the bed. They scrambled around to cover their bodies and they began picking up clothes from the floor while still on the bed.
All through, I held on to the door frame, my mouth slightly opened as I took in the shock of the decade. Iâd been surprised all my life but never have I been double surprised. At some point, one shock seemed to overshadow the other. Was I more surprised at the fact that Charles was in the pack or more surprised that the two of them were together in bed?
Gently, I closed the door back and began walking away. A lot was going on through my head and at the same time, I didnât want to think about anything.
âWait, Angela,â I heard Halleâs voice behind me. I ignored her and kept on walking. Right before I could walk out of the door, someone pulled me by my arm. It was Halle.
âPlease, Angela, please wait,â
I turned around to see the two of them. Halle was wearing a manâs shirt which could have belonged to Charles but Charles was wearing Halleâs top, there was no doubt about that because of the floral pattern and how it didnât even cover half of his upper body. It was a different situation, I wouldâve laughed but not when I just witnessed what I did.
âWhat are you doing here? Youâre not supposed to be in this pack anymore. Did you even ever leave? Or were you here the entire time?â
I asked oneâthird of the questions running towards my head. I wasnât there for Halle anymore, I had the questions directed to Charles.
âLet me explain, Angela,â
âLooking at you right now really scares me not to talk to listening to you,â
I screamed. I still couldnât believe I was standing right there talking to them both when I couldâve just walked out.
âI know youâre in love with Darius but weâre friends. So, please for the sake of our friendship, hear us out,â
âFriendship? You have one hell of a courage for you to use that word. You got me into trouble, Charles. You lied against me, friends donât do things like that,â I argued. I was so pissed off at the fact that he called us friends.
âPlease, Angela,â Halle begged.
âFine. Iâm listening,â
They turned to look at each other. I could see Halle shaking her head but Charles on the other hand looked determined.
âI only came back to the pack today,â
My eyes widened and I twisted my fist. âMake that make sense to me. How were you able to go past the warriors at the gate?â

He pushed his hand forward. âIâve been in this pack longer than Darius. Those men, those warriors know me more than him. They trust me more than Darius. Believe it or not, Angela, this pack is more mine than Dariusââ
I was in disbelief and utter shock engulfed me but right inside of me, I knew he was right. He was already acting like a Beta before he became the Beta. He grew up with these people. They worked together for years, ate together, trained together, and learned to trust each other.
âListen! Whatever this is, is the most bizarre thing Iâve ever witnessed. Youâre supposed to be gone for good from this pack,â
âI know but I only came back becaâ¦â I raised a finger, not ready to listen to whatever he had to say.
âIâm not done talking. You sneaking back into the pack is a sign of rebellion. Youâre making yourself into the alpha that youâre not,â
He opened his mouth to say something but Halle grabbed his hand, stopping him.
âDonât say that, Angela,â
âLet her say whatever Halle. It doesnât change the fact that Iâm the rightful Alpha to this pack, not Darius. Youâre too blinded by love to see the truth,â
He said so nonchalantly I almost walked to him and punched him in the face.
âYouâre too blinded by your stupidity to see the truth,â I yelled at him.
Menacingly, he walked towards me and asked with a proud smirk on his face. âDo you even know that his father left a will to never let Darius become the Alpha of this pack?â
âYes,â
I answered firmly. Charles couldnât hide his shock. His shoulders slumped.
âWhat? He told you?â
âYes, and his father did that for greed. Do you even know the truth about my father and the otherâs death?â
I asked him.
He stared at me and that gave me the answer I wanted. He knew nothing about the truth.
âWhat are you talking about?â He asked with confusion and maybe curiosity.
I pointed at him. âWhy donât you try looking around for that answer first? And come back to talk about how badly you want to become a f*cking Alpha next,â
I turned to Halle. âBest of luck with whatever this is. Just know that youâre getting yourself wrapped more and more in
troubles,â
Without sparing the two of them any more time, I barged out of the apartment. I was furious but at the same time, shocked.
âAngela,â Halle called from behind me. I stopped just as I was about to cross the corners.
âWhat?â I snapped.
She jumped. That made me feel bad for a minute.
âWhy did you come?â She managed to ask.
I bit down on my lower lip. It was useless getting bothered about her now.

âIt doesnât matter anymore,â
âPlease tell me,â one look at her and I knew I had to tell her. I couldnât imagine her suffering for what she didnât do and at the same time, I couldnât believe I trusted her words. Why do I believe sheâs not a part of the Resistance?
âTo warn you. You said you werenât part of the Resistance, right?â I paused and she nodded. âJust be careful. The pack is tensed now, you should be really careful,â
I wasnât going to say more than that.
She smiled gently. âThank you, Angela. I guess I got you worried,â
I shrugged. âYou didnât,â
âIâm not dating Charles. Itâs just a thing we have between us. We couldnât find our mates yet so weâre getting ourselves preoccupied,â she said and laughed lightly.
âYou donât have to tell me all that,â
âI know. I just somehow feel I owe you an explanation,â
âYou donât owe me any explanation. I need to go,â I announced impatiently. If she was already on Dariusâ list of suspects, being seen with her might become a problem. Iâm already associating with the bastard son of the former Alpha; Darius, I shouldnât be linked with any potential member of the Resistance too.
She pointed to my mark. âHe marked you. Did you want it?â
I frowned. âYou think he forced this on me,â
âItâs Darius. Heâs dangerous, Angela. You shouldnât trust him that much. You shouldnât act stupid because of loveâ
âF*ck you and f*ck your opinions about me,â
I walked away from her and her dirty secrets. As I walked away, she called my name but I didnât look back and neither did I answer her.
Suddenly, a hand grabbed me and pulled me into a tight corner. I wanted to scream but the assailant quickly covered my mouth. A cold knife was pressed to my throat. I could only swallow hard. My heart hammered against my rib and my mouth went dry.
âOne word to Darius about what you saw today, the Resistance wouldnât hesitate to drive a knife through your daughter,â
My eyes widened in shock and I felt this unusual heaviness in my stomach.
âA word is enough for the wise, Angela. Donât kill your daughter with your own hands,â
