She waved at me and hurried into the school premises. I was made to sign at the gates that I dropped her off safely and I’ll be back to pick her up later. If I don’t, one of her guardians will definitely be there for her. As of that week, only Azalea and my mom were on her list of guardians.

After I left her school, I made my way to my mom’s apartment to spend the rest of the day. I wanted to go back home and paint but that’s exactly what I’d been doing for the past two days. I wanted a change of environment for the sake of my creativity.

Charles called from behind. I had seen him earlier but I increased my pace to avoid talking to him. I turned to see him walking towards me.

“Hi,”

I replied curtly.

“You good?”

I shrugged. “Perfect. Never been better,”

I lied.

I wasn’t fine. Not hearing from Darius suffocated me but anticipating feeling a pain or something deadly from him was worse. It was killing me.

“Great. Since we haven’t heard from Alpha Darius, I thought I should check up on you. I went to the house but no one was there,”

I shrugged. “It’s totally fine. I’m sure he’s doing fine,”

I spent the rest of the afternoon at my mom’s place. We talked a bit about Brit and it reminded me of what Reina said. My mom insisted on me and Reina spending the night at her place because the house would be too lonely without Darius.

I wanted to reject her offer but she was quite persuasive and I ended up giving in. Since I didn’t have a change of clothes at my mom’s, I decided to go back home and get some clothes that would prepare me for the night.

As I approached home, I saw Daisy lingering outside the door, together with her two minions. They were almost like a copy- and–paste version of her. They dressed alike but in different colors.

“What gave you the right to lock this door?” Daisy asked as soon as I got closer to the front door.

“As the Luna of this pack…” I scoffed loudly and she raised an eyebrow. “I have the right to know what goes on in every household,”

“Did you not read the Code of the Pack or you did and it just brushed past your head since you can’t understand a word,”

“Me?” I pointed to myself. “You just did by coming to my house and asking me a ridiculous question,”
