Angelaâs POV
The following afternoon I left the pack to see Zack. Iâd left Brit in a serious condition. She was still on life support and there was no sign of her waking up soon or getting better. My mom had seen her daughter and sheâd almost collapsed.
âDo you want me to come with you, madam?â Azalea asked as I waited by the gates to leave.
âNo. Iâll be back as soon as possible. I just need to talk to him and find out the truth about what happened to my sister,â
âI donât trust him.â
I shrugged. âMe too and thatâs why I chose the location to meet him. Itâs just ten minutes away from our boundary. Iâm sure Iâll be back before you know it,â
He stared at me with worry etched on his face.
âWhat if you donât come back as soon as possible?â
I scoffed. âIâm sure Zack is harmless. Iâll be back before you know it,â
He nodded. The car that was supposed to take me to the restaurant arrived and I entered. It was a black car with tinted windows. I walked in and waved Azalea goodbye. He didnât wave back just kept on staring at me.
The car drove off and within twenty minutes, we were at the restaurant. I waited in the car to see Zack. I shot him a text telling him I was there and he said he was too. I watched him walk towards the window from inside. That was when I got out of the car and joined him. I acted according to how Azalea taught me. Heâd told me they were safety measures.
âAngela,â
Zack waved at me. I walked towards him at his seat just beside the window and sat down with him. The restaurant was empty which was unusual to me. Maybe the location of the restaurant affected its popularity.
âWhat happened to Brittany, Zack?â I asked as soon as my ass hit the chair.
âRelax, Angela. Order something first,â
He signaled to the waitress.
âIâm not here to eat. Iâm here to talk. You said youâll tell me about what happened. Now, start talking,â
He stared at me. The waitress came to us and I asked her to leave.
âRude,â she murmured before leaving.

âYou need to relax, Angela. Iâll tell you but I want you to be in your right senses. Youâve come a long way,â
I shook my head. âTrust me, twenty minutes isnât the definition of long way,â
I would travel across the ocean to save my sister. I would go miles just to seek an answer. A bastard cannot possibly drop my sister off at the gate battered and close to death and Iâll be expected to sit still in a place. It wasnât possible.
âWill a cup of cold water do? Iâm parched. Iâm getting one for myself,â
âFine,â I agreed.
He signaled to the waitress again for two cups of water. She brought them within a few seconds. I didnât touch the water. I

only watched him drink his water. I wasnât stupid enough to drink water that wasnât opened in my presence.
âBrittam opened up to me about her relationship with a man. They werenât mates but they were friends with benefits,â What man? Whatâs his name?â I asked hurriedly.
He shook his head. âShe never told me his name. Even if she did, I wouldnât tell you. Iâm already breaching doctorâpatient confidentiality by telling you this,â
âThen why am I here if you wonât even give me a stupid name? I cried.
âShe called me two days ago and told me she found out this guy was something she never thought of. I didnât even know she had left the pack with him until she mentioned it,â
âShe left some weeks ago in a hurry and wouldnât even disclose this man to us,â
âI think he took her for a fool and he played her,
âHe didnât just play her for a fool. He hurt her badly and left her in a comatose condition. Sheâs half dead, Zackâ
He slid his hand over mine on the table and offered me a smile. I smiled back but I removed my hand from his. âYou said she told you he was something she never thought of,â I asked.
âYes,â
What was he?â
âA vampire,â I frowned.
Why the hell with Brittany get herself involved with a vampire? Why didnât she call me or Mom for help when she found out? Something wasnât adding up. Something was missing and I needed to find it.
âCan you give me his name?â
âIâm sorry, Angela. Thatâs all I can offer,â
Angrily, I grabbed my bag and got up from my seat. âfuck you, Zack. Fuck you and your stupid doctorâpatient confidentiality
I walked out of the restaurant with angry tears running down my face. My trip down here had only made it worse. Nothing was resolved and more, I couldnât even find the bastard who did that to my sister.
I opened the car door and got in without taking notice of my surroundings. As soon as I sat, my eyes went wide as I took in two masked figures in the car. One was sitting beside the driver while another was right beside me. My driver was already unconscious.
First off, I tried unlocking the door but it didnât budge. My second resort was screaming but before I could scream, the masked man beside me attacked me with a cloth pressed against my mouth. I thought he was trying to muffle my scream but as soon as I felt my energy seeping out of my body, I realized I was being drugged.
The last face I saw was that of Zack staring at me through the carâs window.
When I finally opened my eyes again, I was in a dark room. I tried looking around but I couldnât see anything because of the darkness. My hands were tied together but not my legs. I was fighting to free myself when the lights in the room suddenly
came up.
I realized I was in a basement, an empty basement. I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. I looked up to see a strange man. He was six foot tall, almost standing at the same height as Darius. His eyes were cold and distant and he had a tattoo on
