Christmas Special Part Two

Caught Up in Between

“Babe, you look stunning,” Logan said, standing behind me. I was looking at myself in the mirror when I caught his eyes in the reflection.

I had put on the red bodycon dress that I bought with Angie two days ago. Yeah, I was able to return to my former shape a year after the twins were born. It wasn’t as easy as it was after my first pregnancy, but I managed.

This dress hugged my every curve, and it was obvious that I didn’t have anything to hide. I was showing off my assets without it being too revealing. It was just right.

“Thank you. But look who’s talking.” I turned around, wrapped my arms around his neck, and pulled him to me. Immediately, Logan placed his hands on my waist, pressing me tighter against his chest.

We looked at each other for a few seconds, just enjoying this intimacy. Then Logan bent his head down and captured my lips with his, kissing me passionately from the very first moment.

His hands slid down, and he squeezed my butt. Damn, why was he wearing his white shirt already? I didn’t get the opportunity to place my palms on his chest. I groaned and heard him laughing. Logan leaned away, smiling at me.

“Patience, Rebecca. We have a house full of guests. They are expecting you. Christmas will be here in a few hours, and I promise you will get what you want the most.”

“You?”

Logan chuckled, kissed me on the lips, and stepped aside.

“That’s not even a question. I am all yours. I will reward you for waiting; you can trust me. I was talking about our friends and our parents. You wanted them to be here, so it’s time to be a friendly hostess.”

“You’re right.” I winked at Logan with a smile. “I just got distracted by how my husband looks. You’re still hot and gorgeous.”

“Rebecca Jones, believe me, you will be thinking this way about me even when I am fifty. It will be exactly as I will be thinking about you. My wife is the most stunning woman in the world.”

Can you believe it? It stayed like that even years after we saw each other for the first time. We had been together for eight years, and I still couldn’t get enough of Logan, and it was the same with him.

Our love became stronger and deeper. Our children brought so much happiness to us. Just then, we heard a knock on the door.

“Rebecca? Logan? Can I come in?” I heard my mom’s voice and smiled. I called out to her and saw the door opening. “Lovebirds, do you remember that your friends and family are waiting for you downstairs?”

“Of course, Lydia,” Logan said with a smile. “Just... you know how much I love your daughter and how much I enjoy spending time with her alone.”

“I do. That’s why I told Rebecca more than once that you should go on vacation. Just the two of you. Alicia and I can look after our grandchildren. Matthew and Henry would be thrilled to join us. Think about it, okay?”

“I will,” Logan said, glancing at me.

Guilty. I never told him about Mom’s offer or Alicia’s offer either. They had been bombarding me with this suggestion for four months already, but I kept refusing. That’s why they decided to change their tactics. Smart move.

The three of us went downstairs, where music was playing. I heard bursts of laughter.

We entered the living room, and I saw children chasing each other. They were playing catch-up, and I was already afraid they would knock over the Christmas tree.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. ~Relax, Rebecca.~ I felt Logan’s hand on my back. I opened my eyes and glanced at him. He smiled at me and nudged me to go inside.

“Finally, I thought you decided to skip your own Christmas party.” Drew was sitting on the couch with a glass of whiskey in his hand.

Lisa leaned her back against his chest, observing the children play. Phew, I wasn't the only one concerned.

Drew had changed a little; now he had a beard, but his hair was still cut short as it always had been. He was a gorgeous man, and he kept his body in great shape. I would always notice how hot he looked.

Don't get me wrong, I don't have any feelings for him except friendly ones, and I genuinely love him as a friend. But if the guy looks sexy, why should I deny it?

“Faith, be careful!” Lisa sounded anxious. She was a very caring and attentive mother; sometimes, I even thought that she was too much. But who was I to judge?

I have my flaws, especially when it comes to my children, so I just smiled at her. I was happy for Drew and her.

Their daughter was a lot like her dad. Faith had brown hair like her mother's, but her brown eyes and soft features left no doubt that she took after her dad. She was an adorable and beautiful girl.

Logan was her godfather, and he loved her very much. I saw him bend down and catch her in his arms. She started laughing and then planted a kiss on my husband's cheek.

“Logan, what have you prepared for me?” I heard her ask him. He laughed heartily and whispered something in her ear.

I saw Faith’s eyes growing wider and wider, her lips stretched into a big smile, and then she started giggling. “Really? Really?! I love you, Logan!”

“Logan, I swear, if you bought another super expensive gift for her, I will kill you.” Lisa got up from the couch and stepped towards us, taking her daughter into her arms.

Faith stuck out her tongue at her mother, wiggling in her arms, and as soon as Lisa put her down—she ran after Ethan, trying to catch him.

“So, your hubby has the right to spoil my daughter, but I can’t do the same for his daughter? It’s not fair.” Logan hugged Lisa by her shoulder.

“I know my limits. I have a very reasonable wife. She often reminds me of how I need to act.”

“Thank God you have Rebecca. I am afraid to even think about what your gift for Faith’s third birthday would be.”

“I will ask your hubby for advice.”

“Please, don’t!” Lisa laughed and pushed Logan away.

I continued walking to the room, leaving Logan and Lisa jokingly arguing. As I passed Drew, he winked at me, and I smiled.

Yesterday, I talked to him for two hours. We talked about everything and anything, and it still wasn’t enough. He was my friend, one of the best.

While my other best friend was now sitting with my dad and with Jenny, I strolled over to them.

Chase and Jenny were only able to come today in the morning, and I was dying to steal him away for a few hours. I missed my best friend so much.

I placed my hands on his shoulders from behind. Chase turned his head to me and smiled.

“You look beautiful, Rebecca,” my dad said, and I smiled at him.

Then I looked at Jenny. She was caressing her big belly with her hand. She was five months pregnant with her second child, and I was incredibly happy for Chase and her.

I instantly remembered Tim and Kate. Kate was nine months pregnant, and that’s why Wallace’s family couldn’t join us this year.

Philipp was very sad that he couldn’t visit us, but Angie called him and promised that our whole family would visit him. So, Logan and I have already planned our trip to his hometown next week.

What can I say? We love our friends.

“Becca, have you seen Zac and Angie? They took off as soon as they saw each other and have been together for almost three hours already,” Chase told me when I sat down near my dad.

“Zac prepared a gift for her. I have no idea what he bought, but he spent all of his savings on it.”

“That’s so sweet,” Jenny said with a smile. “Zac told us that he’s planning to marry Eva. He told me that she is his soulmate.”

“Yeah, I heard them talk about that more than once. I won’t interfere. I told her that anything is possible. He still calls her Eva.” I smiled, feeling nostalgic.

Zac was the only person who called my daughter by this short name. Most people were calling her Evangelina or Angie.

The bond between Angie and Zac was amazing, and I really admired their friendship and how much they enjoyed spending time together.

Suddenly, I heard a cry. I instantly realized that it was my son crying. I got up and rushed to the Christmas tree.

“Mommy!” Ethan was sitting on the floor and holding his hand close to his chest. I knelt down to him and took his palm in my hand.

When he fell to the ground, he cut his finger a little. It was just a scratch, but Ethan was being Ethan. He needed attention. I pulled him into my arms and cradled him against my chest.

“It’s nothing serious, right? I'll be fine?”

“Ethan, stop being ridiculous.” Emma stomped her foot, and I looked at her, narrowing my eyes. Ethan would calm down in a few seconds, but only if she didn't tease him.

“Sorry, Mom. Ethan, you'll be okay, I promise.”

“Ethan, come with me.” I heard a voice and saw Faith standing beside me. She extended her hand to him, and he took it with a big, happy smile.

With amusement, I watched as she walked him to the couch. They sat down together, and in a few seconds, I heard a burst of cheerful laughter.

“Mom, can you make Angie come back? Or Mia? I'm bored.” Emma wound her hands around my neck and climbed onto my lap. I almost fell on my butt as I was still on my knees. She pressed her head against the hollow of my neck.

“Why don’t you join your grandmothers? Dinner will be served in thirty minutes. Everyone will gather around the table.” I heard my daughter sighing.

“Okay.” I kissed her cheek and watched as she went to my mother, who was sitting with Alicia and Matthew near the window.

It was wonderful that my mom was able to find common ground with Logan’s. But when he and I realized that they had become best friends, we were amazed by it.

Our parents even went on vacation to Hawaii together this summer. My dad also became friends with Matthew. So now, they keep each other company while their wives are having fun.

Dear God, Alicia and my mom know how to have fun, trust me. When Dad sent me some pictures from their vacation, Logan and I couldn’t stop laughing.

Though, we never confessed to our moms that we saw these photos. Matthew, who also knew that we saw them, said they might kill them because they revealed it.

“Daydreaming again?”

I felt a hand on my waist and turned my head. Lily was standing beside me. I smiled at her and rested my head on her shoulder.

“Becca, these decorations are so beautiful!”

“Thank you, Lil. I am so happy that you were able to pull it off and be here. It means a lot. Logan misses his little sister and his niece so much. I miss my friend too.”

“I miss you guys too, but with John’s work, it’s not very easy. He wasn’t able to join us on this trip.”

“You have an accent. Do you know that?” I asked teasingly. Lily sighed and shook her head.

“Thank you for pointing it out, friend. Or I should call you—my dearest sister-in-law? You’re mean, Rebecca.”

“I love you, and besides, don’t forget that we are planning to visit you in Barcelona in March. Logan and I already promised the twins that we would go on vacation for their birthday.

“And that we will stay at your place. You will be begging us to leave you.”

“No way! I love you and my brother too much. Besides, I always miss my nieces and my nephew.

“John is very sorry that he couldn’t come, but he told me that he would take vacation when you are in Spain. To spend some time with all of you.”

“I thought that Mia and you wouldn’t come either. He’s alone…”

“You forget that he has a brother. Liam and Kelly went to visit him with their twins, so John will not have time to miss us. We will be back by the end of the week.”

“Rebecca?” I turned my head to Logan’s voice and saw him standing in the doorframe. He waved at me, and I excused myself from Lily. I glanced at the clock on the wall. It was time for dinner.

Logan took my hand in his and led me to the kitchen, then to the backyard. On our way to the backyard, I saw that my mom took a dish and went with it to the living room. Mia, Zac, and Angie were helping her.

When I was almost out of sight, I saw Alicia coming back to the kitchen as well. Okay, I have no idea why Logan made me come here. Obviously, it should be me and not our parents or our kids taking care of the festive table.

“Why are we out here?” I furrowed my eyebrows and stared at my hubby. Logan took a deep breath and stepped closer to me, wrapping his arms around my waist.

“Okay. I will make it quick. I love you, Rebecca Jones. I loved you in the past, love you now, and I will always love you. You are my perfect other half, and there isn’t a day when I don’t think about you or our children.

“You gave me the most amazing and precious presents when you agreed to be my wife and when you gave birth to Angie and our twins. You make my life colorful. You make me feel love, care, and tenderness.

“I am strong enough to overcome anything because I have you by my side. It wasn’t the easiest decision to end my career, but with you, I was able to think positively, I overcame my grim thoughts.

“You and our children were my sunshine, and I am so damn happy with you!”

“Logan, I love you too so much… I am incredibly happy with you. You make me whole. Without you, I wouldn’t have been able to overcome my insecurities and become the person I am now.

“I am so grateful to destiny, that it brought us together… Because honestly, being with you feels so damn right… I even breathe better when I am with you…”

Logan caressed my cheek with his palm, wiping away my tears. I smiled at him and saw him leaning to me. Logan kissed my lips, and for some time, we lost ourselves in each other’s arms.

“Rebecca, I just… I bought you a present already. It’s perfect…”

I placed my finger on his lips, preventing him from telling me. He nodded his head and smiled at me.

“Okay, you will see your present a little later… What I wanted to say that your mom made me think. It was so long ago when you and I went on vacation together. Just you and me.

“The last time was when Angie was four, and we went to Rome.”

“Yeah, I believe you’re right.”

“Well, I thought about it. I talked about it to Drew because he saw how thoughtful and serious I was… In three weeks, we are going on vacation. You, me, and the Maldives.”

“Say that again.” I wrapped my arms around his neck and murmured to his lips.

“You, me, and the Maldives. You will have a chance to try that sexy swimsuit you bought a few months ago. And all of your sexy and deliciously hot summer dresses too.”

“How were you able to pull that off with such short notice?”

“Drew told me I need to use this opportunity in my favor. So, I just went to our moms and talked to them. They agreed without any hesitation.

“My dad even sighed in relief, congratulating your mom. He said she made a smart move, mentioning their offer in front of me.”

“She did. Have I told you already how much I love you?” I purred.

“Yes, you did. But I would love to hear a reminder. It feels nice.”

“I love you, Logan Jones. You stole my heart a long time ago, and now I belong to you. Body and soul. All yours.”

“Mmm, your body and soul… I already have so many ideas in my mind about what I will do to you…”

“You could start showing me tonight.” I pressed my lips to his, and we started kissing again, forgetting about the world around us.

Returning to the Earth was loud. We heard a knock on the window and saw all three of our children staring at us. Logan and I instantly laughed and went back to the house.

I took Emma in my arms, and Logan did the same with Ethan while Angie stood before us with her arms folded over her chest.

She tried to look angry, but I saw how hard it was for her. Besides, her brother and sister started giggling as soon as they were in our arms.

“Mom, Dad, we know that you love each other. But you have a house full of guests. I helped both my grannies take care of the table. Everything is ready, but you two disappeared. You need to be more responsible.”

“Am I dreaming, or is our daughter lecturing us?” Logan turned his head to me. Ethan, in his arms, was laughing very loudly.

“You’re not. She just scolded us, Logan. We did an excellent job raising her. Don’t you think?”

“Totally agree.” Logan bent down, scooped her in his arms too.

Angie started laughing and wrapped her arms around my and Logan’s necks. She brought us closer, so we were able to hug each other.

“We love you, kiddos, so much. The three of you are our pride and joy.”

“We love you too,” Angie, Emma, and Ethan said in unison.

When I was going back to the living room with Emma in my arms, I was incredibly happy. I have an amazing husband who loves and respects me. I have three beautiful and healthy children.

I have real friends like Drew and Lisa, Chase and Jenny, Kate and Tim. I have my parents and my in-laws, Alicia, Matthew, and Lily, with John and Mia.

These people made my life better. They made me a better person. These people influenced my life and my personality. I am who I am because I met each of them.

Later, when everyone was exchanging gifts, I stood near Logan with a happy smile on my lips. I had already received a fantastic award from this life.

A marvelous man loved me, and I was happy with him. He would do anything for me, and I felt that we would be able to overcome everything together.

Our love for each other and our children was not our weakness. It was our strength. I hoped that it would be like that forever.
