Chapter 34

Morning Revelation

Caught Up in Between

If you're expecting a guy to leave your bed in the early morning, you should set the alarm. But I didn't do that, and neither did Drew. So instead, we had been woken up by Lily's angry voice.

“What the hell?! Rebecca!”

I sat up in bed, startled, rubbing my eyes. Drew's arm was on my hips, and he didn't even open his eyes.

I tried to focus and saw Lily standing in the doorway with a frown on her face and arms folded over her chest.

“Good morning, Lil... What time is it?”

“It's almost nine. But don't you dare change the subject! What is he doing in your bed?”

“Sleeping?” I shrugged my shoulders.

“Are you fucking kidding me? You told me you wouldn't sleep with Drew, and now he's here?”

“Too loud...,” Drew complained, sitting up on my bed. I looked him over; he was so adorable with his sleepy eyes and messy hair. Damn him. Even in this state, he was sexy.

“Lily, nothing happened! I swear!”

“Ha! Do you expect me to believe that?”

“For God’s sake! I am so tired of this! We didn’t sleep… Well, we didn’t have sex. And I won’t discuss this issue anymore. I am telling you the truth.”

“Lil, we’re adults, and we can do what we want,” Drew interjected. “Nothing happened. I barged into Becca’s room and cuddled with her for the whole night. Besides, do you really think that I would allow her to put her clothes back on if we…?”

Drew spoke in a confident tone and even added his mischievous smile at the end.

“But…” Lily was still doubtful.

“You’re in the next room to this, right?” Drew asked. She only nodded at his question. “Did you hear anything? Becca isn’t the quietest girl if you know what I mean.”

“Shut up, Drew!” I glared at him, but he only laughed. Then he leaned towards me and kissed me on the cheek, engulfing me in the familiar scent of his body. The feel of his lips lingered on my face, and it felt so good.

“Why are you still here?” Logan’s voice reached us before he did. When he entered my room, his eyes focused on Drew and me on the bed immediately. “What are you doing in Becca’s room?” He was looking directly at Drew now.

“I slept here.” He answered without even seeming somewhat concerned, while I shifted uncomfortably. My good mood was starting to disappear.

“Just slept?” Logan narrowed his eyes, stepping further into my room.

“Yes. But why does that bother you so much?” Drew stood up from the bed and took a few steps closer to Logan.

“Guys…” Lily looked nervous. She quickly moved to Logan and took his hand in hers.

“Say it. I am fucking tired of you, Logan. You’re still with Melanie, and yet you’re acting like Becca belongs to you,” Drew snapped.

“And you are still with Phoebe, and yet you spent the night in bed with another girl,” Logan shot back.

“Drew? Logan? We wanted to go hiking. It’s time for us to have breakfast and leave…” Lily pleaded, tugging her brother’s hand. He didn’t move a muscle. He and Drew were locked in a staring competition. I hadn’t moved from my position on the bed, but my eyes were wide open with shock.

“Okay. If the issue here is about this, I will call Phoebe right now,” Drew said. “I never wanted to date her. She was just a convenient replacement for what I really wanted but was too scared to admit.”

“No one deserves to be broken up with over the phone… I even surprised myself, but I was finally able to find my voice again. “Could you all please leave my room? I want to change.”

Without another word, Logan pulled his hand away from Lily’s and rushed out of the room. Drew followed him, while Lily was the last to leave.

“You know what, Rebecca? I like you, I do. But what you did to my brother and Drew… it’s just horrible. They have been best friends since childhood. They have never fought over the same girl, never. They always supported each other. And this? I fucking hate it!”

Lily stormed out of my room, slamming the door behind her. Wow. I wasn’t planning for this to happen, and she knew that. And it was suddenly all my fault? Shit!

I got dressed in sweatpants, a sweatshirt, and sneakers. I didn’t care what I was wearing at that point. I went down to the kitchen; Kate and Tim were lounging on the couch in the living room.

Logan and Lily were in the kitchen, and they were talking in hushed voices. Drew wasn’t there. I held my head high and walked to the kitchen. Kate smiled and waved at me.

Okay, I guess she had no idea about what had just happened in my room.

I went to the fridge, opened it, and took out some yogurt and an orange. When I turned to leave the kitchen, I heard Logan’s voice.

“Rebecca, you need to eat. We are going to the forest, and it will be a long hike. You will need your strength,” Logan said. I looked at him. He cared about me. My heart was melting at his concern. I smiled at him.

“I will be okay, Logan. Promise.”

“Yeah... Like your promises ever meant something.”

Lily wasn’t even looking at me. Her words were like a slap to my face. I had been worried about how I would survive this trip to the lake with Drew and Logan. At the moment, though, it looked like the main problem would be Lily.

“Lil, leave her alone. What is going on between the three of us is not your business anyway,” Drew said. He entered the kitchen with a serious expression on his face. He was wearing jeans, a hoodie, and a bomber jacket.

“He’s right,” Logan nodded to Lily. “Drew, are we ready to leave?”

“Ten minutes.”

Lily glanced at Drew and Logan. They were acting normal with each other again. I turned around and walked to the living room. I drank my yogurt and ate the orange while staring out of the window. Kate silently joined me.

“Hey. Why do I have a feeling that Tim and I missed something?”

“Kind of... Drew slept in my room. Nothing happened,” I hurriedly said to her. “Lily walked in on us, and she was angry with me until Logan showed up at my door. Now, she is pissed at me because her brother and his best friend argued because of me…”

“Oh…” Kate was surprised. “Well, it was bound to happen. Logan and Drew, they both like you. It’s just a competition over a stunning girl, that’s all there is to it.”

“She thinks that their arguments are my fault…”

“What? That is stupid.”

“It is what it is.”

“Girls, we’re leaving,” Tim called out to us. He was standing with Logan and Drew near the doorframe. Lily was already outside the house.

“Everything will be okay. I have a feeling,” Kate winked at me and walked over to her boyfriend. He put his hand on her waist, pressing her to his side. I was so happy for her. She had never been successful with boys.

Well, that was not exactly correct: she had dated many boys, but she had never been in a serious relationship. I hoped that this time would be different.
