He stared at Cole who was on the sick bed, then at the lady who just came in, and then back at Cole.

“She is not the one I give you my word,” Cole said to the Doc. “And I would like to take up the offer of sharing a room with my wife.”

“What room?” Vanessa stared suspiciously.

“What are you doing here?”

“I will leave you both. Please make sure you don’t stress yourself.” Edward said to Cole and then took his leave.

“Why are you questioning my presence?”

“I was scared, Cole. I thought I was going to lose you.” She started sniffling.

Cole couldn’t help

but roll his eyes at her, knowing that the tears weren’t real.

“Don’t you dare!” He glared at her when she was about to take a seat beside him.

“Don’t do this to me, baby. I was so worried about you. I thought I was going to lose you. Do you know how

afraid I was?”

“I have always made it known to you that Hailey is evil but you will never believe me. See what she did to your

now!” She gestured towards his arm.

“Hailey didn’t pull the trigger at me. I know we both know that so stop making false accusations against her.”

“She didn’t pull the trigger but the bullet was meant for her. This is why you need to completely discard her from your life. She probably stole from someone and they want to get revenge on her, which is why they are after her. Trust me, you can’t get involved with her right now. Hailey is not who you think she is. I don’t know what I can

say or do that would make you believe me.”

“And how do you know all of this information?”

“Because I am always aware of everything and I will do all it takes to protect you. Your false obsession with her isn’t making you see all of these clearly.”

“If you had not gone after her, we would probably be enjoying our lives right now. We will have no business in this hospital. Hailey is just an obstruction. Please just dump her and come to me.”

“If you are here to talk bad about her, I am glad to let you know that your tricks aren’t going to work. I would take a bullet for Hailey again if I have to”

Vanessa heaved a deep sigh, taking steps away from Cole’s bedside.

“I really need to rest. Please take your leave.”

Nessa instantly turned around and approached him again. “I’m not going to allow the Doctor to put you and that bitch in the same room and what do you mean you would take a bullet for her again? For fucks sake, Cole, you could have died. Do I need to remind you of that?”

“Of course, you have never been in love. So nothing I say would make sense to you.”

“What do you mean I have never been in love? I wouldn’t have any reason to be here if I didn’t love you.”

“You were so obsessed with me, Cole. You were so obsessed about me that you wouldn’t stop sexting me. What changed?”

“I found a better woman. One whom I cannot afford to lose. And if I die saving her, I would know that I died at good death, trying to win the heart of the love of my life.

“That hurts like shit,” Vanessa mumbled, wiping tears off the corner of her eyes.

“I am sorry but that’s the truth. I am crazy about Hailey and you also deserve to be with someone that’s crazy about you too.”

“At this point, it is safe to say that she casts a spell on you. But it’s fine. I am not bothered because Hailey doesn’t want you. I will be right here waiting for you to come to apologize for me to take you back.”

Cole rolled his eyes.

“Since Hailey is good, I think it is time I take my leave,” Tyler said, rising to his feet.

“You are not going to see her?” Debbie said with his attention on him as she rose to her feet also.

“I would love to but I think it’s best that I stay away. At least for now.”

“This isn’t that deep, Ty. Hailey values you and I am sure she wouldn’t want to lose your friendship.”

“I don’t want to be just friends. I want something more. I can’t be with her without having beautiful dreams and nasty thoughts about her being my woman.”

“I appreciate you motivating me to chase her. Maybe I am going to consider it but I need to dwell in my thoughts for now. I need some time.”

Debbie nodded. “I understand you. Take all the time you need but don’t give up and don’t overthink. I used to be jealous you were going to take my best friend from me.”

“Well, you should be happy now because I lost. You have her all to yourself.”

“That’s not it. Hailey loves us differently and you’ve got a very special place in her heart. Please remember that when you start overthinking.”

Tyler nodded. “I settled the bills already including her drugs. Please take good care of her and I am only a call away if you all need anything.”

“Sure, thank you.”

Taking one last glance at Debbie, Tyler took his leave.

Debbie sighed, making her way back to Hailey’s ward.

She opened her eyes the moment Debbie walked in.

“Thank you!”

“For

putting that bitch in her place? Oh, no need to thank me. I am glad I was able to show her the way out.” She said, taking a seat by Hailey’s bedside.

“I wish there was something I could do to make her disappear forever. I am no longer comfortable with you being close to them. I can’t imagine you having a bullet wound.”

“It would have been so insane. I mean, what would I tell the twins?”

“Where is Ty? Are you still mad at him?” Hailey asked Debbie.

“He left.”

“He is heartbroken and I think he needs time.”

“I am such a fool, right?”

“No, no you are not,” Debbie assured her best friend.

“It’s so sad that we are all experiencing this phase but I give you my word that everyone is going to find their peace of mind eventually.”

Hailey nodded. “I know!”

“The more I think about the fact that he bought the ring seven months ago, the sadder I get.”

“I know. But nothing would be more awful than marrying him when you feel absolutely nothing for him.”

Hailey sighed deeply.

THE NEXT DAY!

The male nurse was literally helping Cole back to his bed when Doctor Edward strolled in. Cole just had an assisted bath.

“Good morning.”

“Morning, Doc,” Cole said, adjusting himself well on the bed.

“You look better today.” Dr Edwards said, approaching his bedside.

“Yeah, I definitely had a good rest after that bitch left yesterday. By the way, How is Hailey?”

“She has been discharged.”
