Chapter 344
His Lordship Alexander Kane
Chapter 0344
Inside the sleek Zimler Entertainment Group skyscraper in downtown Zabaleta...
âWanda, have you forgotten who you are?
âGoing rogue with endorsements for New Chesire Group, living a scandalous life... Do you have any idea how much effort and
resources weâve poured into your career?
âYou're out of line!â
In the executive suite at the top of the tower, Wanda silently stood meekly before the massive oak desk, her head hung low.
She was the companyâs golden girl, a redâhot celebrity from the moment she stepped into the spotlight, the group's very own
golden goose.
Travis Zimmer, the boss himself, had always held her in high regard, sparing her from any harsh words-until then.
âDo you realize the lengths I went to clean up your mess with the Ledger family?â
Travis, puffing on his cigar, slammed his hand down on the desk, the sound echoing through the room. âI had to grovel and
scrape to save face with the Ledgers, or you'd be history!â
Wanda remained silent, her head still bowed.
Kelvin, standing off to the side, could not stand it any longer.
Travis fixed things with the Ledger family? What a joke!
It was the legendary Olâ Mare Mister Kane who stormed the Ledger estate that night, rescuing his parents and ensuring the
Ledgers would not dare cross Wanda again. Travis had not lifted a finger, let alone played the hero.
All that, and he had the gall to claim the victory as his own? The nerve!
âBoss.â Kelvin paused, then stepped up to explain, âYou know Wandaâs integrity,1...â
âDid I ask for your damn opinion? Beat it!â Travis cut Kelvin off before he could say another word, angrily flicking his cigar at him.
âWhat kind of agent are you, anyway?
âMixing with shady characters, getting caught up in drug parties... If Wanda gets the axe, do you realize the hit our company
would take? We couldnât make up the loss if we sold you off!â
Everyone has their breaking point, and with Wandaâs reputation on the line, Kelvinâs patience ran out. He said firmly, âBoss, I
swear on my life, this is nothing but a vicious lie!â
Alie? It had to be a lie!
Travis lit up another cigar and let out a derisive snort.

He had been in showbiz long enough to have his own network of informants. He had been tipped off about that mess. Rumor
had it that the Olâ Mare New Chesire Group had crossed some northern tycoons. Wanda, as their face, was caught in the
crossfire. Nobody could pull her out of that one.
So what if she was the darling of the silver screen? To those northern tycoons, a starlet like her was just a bigger bug, easily
squashed.
âBoss, you can trust that this wonât touch the company.â
Finally breaking her silence, Wanda looked up and said quietly, âIâll own this. Whatever comes, Iâll handle it myself.â
âYou? Thatâs a laugh!â
Travis scoffed, cigar smoke curling around him. âWanda, you're nothing but a cash cow to me. Do you think you're special or
something? I could shut you down with a single word!â
âGo ahead and try!â
Wanda stood tall, her youthful face a picture of defiance. âIâve always played it straight, never bending to fear or rumor. If youâre
so concerned about the companyâs image, feel free to cut ties with me. Your call, I couldn't care less.â
Wanda lost her patience.
Travisâ eyes narrowed, his expression turning distant and menacing. âYou think this is a game? Without my backing, youâd be six
feet under! Go ahead, break off our deal, and see how fast you end up in pieces!â
However, Wanda just laughed.
After everything with Alexander, she was no longer the clueless girl she once was. Travisâ threats could not
touch her then.
What was Travis to her? What did she have to be afraid of?
Back when Marcus had her cornered, where was that bragging boss? Sir Kane had cleared her path, and Travis dared to claim
all the glory? The nerve, the utter gall!
âI've paid back the companyâs investment in me with my hard work, and made you a tidy profit to boot!â
She held her head high, staring Travis down with unflinching conviction. âIâm done buying into your act of kindness. Thereâs a
whole world out there, and I refuse to believe thereâs no place in it for me. This is the last time I'll call you âboss.â Goodbye.â
With that, she spun on her heel and strode toward the office door.
âWanda, you wouldnât dare!â
Travis leaped from his executive chair, pointing a shaking finger at her retreating figure, his voice rising to a shout. âStep out that
door, and you'll regret it! Mister Ledger and the northern tycoons won't let you off the hook, you...â
His voice trailed off.

Wanda had not even made it out of the office before Kelvin gave Travis a dismissive shake of the head and flung his ID badge
onto the desk. âBoss, after all these years, this is the first time quitting felt so damn good.
âI'm out of here on my own terms.â
He did not even glance back at Travis raging tantrum and hurried to catch up with Wanda.
