Return of the Crowned Heiress Chapter 353
Return of the Crowned Heiress
Felicia had clearly underestimated Mikeâs shameless persistence.
For someone who always seemed the perfect gentlemanâpolished, composed, and annoyingly politeâMike had a hidden streak of stubborn audacity.
When Kerry tried to show him the door politely, Mike casually brushed it off and followed Felicia all the way into the storeroom.
Kerry hovered awkwardly nearby, unsure whether she should physically intervene. Ultimately, she decided against it. After all, this was Mike, not some random troublemaker. Still, she kept a watchful eye.
Felicia paid no attention to her unwanted guest, focusing on the colorful powders spread out on the table in front of her. The air was heavy with a strange, medicinal aroma.
âWhatâs that?â Mike asked, leaning closer to the array of red, yellow, blue, and green powders. He reached out, curiosity getting the better of him. âIt smells⦠interesting. Mind if I
âPoison,â Felicia said with a faint smile, not looking up. âDeadly stuff. One touch and youâre
gone.â
Mikeâs hand froze midâair. His expression shifted from mild curiosity to wideâeyed shock, as though she had just told him the powder could explode. His hand snapped back to his side, and, he instinctively took two steps back.
âSeriously?â he asked, swallowing hard. âYouâre out here whipping up poison like itâs no big deal?â
Felicia finally looked up, her lips curving slightly. âDidnât you call me a âtough girlâ the first time we met? Just living up to the reputation.â
â
Mike thought back to their first encounterâFelicia, alone and unarmed, taking on a group of street thugs like it was a casual Tuesday. He had been impressed back then. Now? He wasnât so
sure.
Straightening up, he cleared his throat and tried to sound serious. âOkay, fine. But, uh⦠Are you upset because of that woman hanging around Stephan?â
Felicia paused her work, her hands still over the array of toxic powders she was mixing. It took her a moment to process what Mike had just said.
She thought, âThereâs a young woman with Stephan? Well, that explains a lot.â
Instead of addressing his statement, Felicia tossed her own question back at him, âMr. Lawson, can you tell me what Stephan is really looking for in Khogend? Donât tell me itâs connected to the Fuller family?â
Channsd
She hadnât forgotten about Stephanâs two lateânight visits to the Fuller residence. Coupled
with his
s stau
in Khogend under a concealed identity, there was clearly more to this story.
Felicia wasnât someone driven by idle curiosity, but if it involved the Fuller family, she couldnât ignore it. That unspoken tension between her and Stephanâwas it intentional or purely coincidental?
Mikeâs expression shifted noticeably. âI⦠canât answer that.â
He looked like he wanted to slap himself. He scolded himself inwardly, âWhy did I even bring this up?â Now, he had managed to dig himself into a hole. He shouldâve just stayed quiet instead of nosing around and creating trouble for himself.
âIf you really want to know, ask Stephan directly. Anyway, Iâve got something to do. Thanks for that calming sachet you made for Sandra. Iâll see myself out!â
The man who had been loitering shamelessly just moments ago now bolted as if his life depended on it.
Felicia chuckled softly.
With the interruption gone, she refocused on mixing her powders. But Mikeâs earlier comment about the âyoung womanâ by Stephanâs side left a strange feeling lingering in her chest.
She recalled the soft, feminine voice that had answered her call to Stephan before. It should be
her.
Clearly, their relationship wasnât ordinary.
Felicia pushed down the faint discomfort stirring in her and turned her full attention back to crafting the poison in front of her.
Kerry was still standing nearby, her eyes wide as she nervously pointed to the vibrant array of powders on the table.
âMs. FâFullerâ¦â
âStraighten your tongue before you speak,â Felicia said without looking up.
âMs. Fuller!â Kerry finally managed, her voice trembling. âIs this really poison? The kind that ⦠you know⦠kills on contact?â
