Return of the Crowned Heiress Chapter 485
Return of the Crowned Heiress
There was only one Fuller in the room, and that was Felicia.
Not long ago, Imogen had been warm and caring toward her, treating her like a beloved younger sister. Her kindness and attentiveness were evident to all the maids and subordinates of the Russell family.
Yet now, she turned against Felicia in an instant.
Stanley instinctively glanced at Felicia, expecting her to show some reaction, perhaps sadness or indignation. But there was nothing. Feliciaâs expression remained calm. There was not even a frown on her face. It was as though the matter had nothing to do with her, or it was as if she had grown used to such situations.
Stanley braced himself and said, âMs. Russell, the Fuller familyâs matter has nothing to do with Mrs. Russell. Even if youâre upset, you shouldnât vent your anger on herâ¦â
What a choice of wordsâventing anger!
Mrs. Russell? What a bold claim!
Imogenâs eyes suddenly gleamed with sharpness. In that instant, all the warmth she showed previously disappeared, replaced by an imperious air. âWithout my approval, how could there even be a Mrs. Russell in the Russell family?â
âMs. Russell, please calm down-â
âIâm calm enough! Get her out of here!
âMs. Russell, things arenât what you think. Besides, you still need to have Mrs. Russell treat your eyes. Can you please calm down first?â Stanley was sweating with anxiety, unsure of how to persuade her. He resorted to saying whatever came to mind.
However, those words only made Imogenâs eyebrows arch even higher and her sneer grow colder.
âTreat my eyes? Hah! I wouldnât dare accept such kindness!â
Once prejudice and hatred took root, they would only keep growing, distorting every action of the other party into something malicious and insincere. The affection Imogen had previously shown Felicia had now twisted into intense hatred!
The thought of having let her guard down completely, treating the daughter of her enemy with such sincerity and trust, filled Imogen with regret and self- loathing. She blamed herself for being blind in more ways than one, unable to discern the true nature of those around her.
âIâll say this one last time. Tell Stephan to come and see me. I donât care where he is right now or what heâs doing. If I donât see him before tomorrow morning, he might as well stop calling me his sister!â
Imogen delivered her ultimatum and motioned for Johanna to close the door.
Johanna obediently stepped forward with a faint smile playing on her lips. She said to Felicia, âYou heard her. Youâre not welcome here. Please be sensible enough to leave on your own.â
Felicia remained silent throughout, her expression contemplative. Based on the conversation between Imogen and Stanley, she pieced together the general situation.
So, that was what this whole thing was about.
Imogenâs fiancé died, the map went missing, and all the evidence pointed to Dexter as the murderer and the thief.
But for some reason, Stephan had withheld this discovery. Now that the truth had come out, Imogen felt deceived and betrayed, leading to her complete breakdown
Felicia found the whole situation quite unfair to herself.
She had never benefited from the Fuller family, yet she had suffered plenty because of them.
Fortunately, she was used to it. She had lost count of how many times sheâd experienced being shouted at to leave and get lost growing up.
Before turning to leave, Felicia still offered some professional advice as a doctor, âMs. Russell, I suspect your condition will escalate sooner than expected. You could very well deliver this month. Please take care of yourself.â
âI donât need your fake concern!â
Felicia nodded and said no more. She quietly gathered her few belongings and left.
Mandey sighed and followed her out. Along the way, he kept trying to explain and mediate, hoping to ease the tension.
âAlas, Ms. Russell is actually a pitiful person Sheâs lonely and lacks a sense of security. Thatâs why Johanna is so important to her. The emotional support and reliance she has on Johanna are things no one else can replace, not even Mr. Russell.
âNow, having just learned about all this, itâs only natural for her to be angry and say hurtful things in the heat of the moment. Maâam, please donât take it to heart.â
