Return of the Crowned Heiress Chapter 584
Return of the Crowned Heiress
Imogen was overwhelmed with emotion, tears blending with laughter as she nodded. âI believe you,â
Archie lifted her hand and kissed it gently.
The atmosphere in the room immediately grew warmer.
Being reunited after so long, the two couldnât help but cling to each other, indulging in their affection.
Just as Archie leaned closer, ready to take things further, Imogen pushed him away, her face flushing with embarrassment. âNo, we canât. I just had the baby not long ago. Iâm still in my recovery periodâ¦â
Archie paused as if realizing this for the first time. He chuckled. âLook at me, getting carried away like that. Itâs my bad. You just lie down and rest. Are you hungry? Should I get you something to eat?â
Imogen shook her head, her face reddening even more. âIâm not hungry. Archie, can you step out for a moment? I need to use the bathroomâ¦â
Since giving birth, she still needed help from the caregivers and the postpartum nurse to handle things like changing pads and cleaning up. It was a routine she had grown used to, but in front of Archie, it felt unbearably awkward and embarrassing.
Archie seemed to sense her discomfort. He chuckled softly and kissed her forehead. âIâll help. Iâm your husband. Whatâs there to be embarrassed about?â Although their wedding was called off due to the tragedy of Archieâs presumed death, they had done everything a normal wedded couple would have otherwise. They even had a child together.
For Imogen, the ceremony itself no longer mattered. She was content with him being alive and well before her.
When it came to caring for others, Archie was meticulous and gentle, attending to her every need.
Initially, Imogen felt uneasy, but his patient care gradually put her at ease, her face softening with a sweet and blissful smile.
âArchie, youâre so nice to me.
â
Leaning against the headboard, Imogen felt his presence as he bustled about, her heart brimming with gratitude. Unable to help herself, she leaned toward him.
Archie bent down naturally, brushing his lips against her forehead.
Imogen pouted, tugging lightly at his arm.
He hesitated briefly, his movements stiffening for a split second before he leaned in again, tracing a kiss from her nose to the corner of her lips. âWhy only the corner of my lips? And why so fleeting?â Imogen wondered.
Feeling a pang of disappointment, she asked, âArchie, are you avoiding me?â
âOf course not, How could I?â Archie soothed her in a gentle voice. âIâm just worried I wonât be able to stop myself. Be patient, alright? Once your recovery period is over, weâll have all the time in the world.â
you to kiss me and hold me,
âThatâs not what I meant!â Imogenâs face turned crimson as she protested. âYouâre the one thinking too much! I just want yo thatâs all
âAlright, alright. Itâs my fault. I misunderstood. Let me make it up to you, my darling.â
Archieâs voice, tinged with amusement, was irresistibly alluring. Though Imogen couldnât see, she felt his warm breath brush against her nose.
As his lips drew closer, ready to meet hers, the bedroom door suddenly swung open, and a lively, feminine voice rang out âImogen!â
Imogen frowned.
There was only one person in the entire Russell family who would barge into her room unannounced and without knockingâJohanna. The first thing Johanna saw was Archie and Imogen about to kiss. It felt like a bucket of ice water was poured over her head.
