Return of the Crowned Heiress Chapter 587
Return of the Crowned Heiress
Archie lowered his head and let out a perfectly executed sigh, his face filled with guilt. âTalled at the map I lost it while I was unconsciousâ
the task Mr.
His explanation was logical and seamless.
Stanley nodded, patting Archie on the shoulder in a reassuring manner. âYou did your best. Mr. Russell wonât blame you.â
âButâ¦.â Stanleyâs tone suddenly shifted. âHow do you know there was a map inside that box?â
Archieâs eyes flickered, but he kept his head bowed, revealing nothing on his face.
Damn it. He had slipped up!
Archieâs mind raced as he tried to come up with a reasonable excuse to cover this oversight. However, before he could form a coherent response, Stanley moved past the topic. âLetâs go and see Mr. Russell.â
The slightly ajar door was pushed open, and Stanley strode inside.
Stephanâs
Archie followed, expecting the room to be empty. To his surprise, a medical team was present, monitoring Stephanâs condition and recording even the slightest fluctuations in his vitals
Stanley walked straight in and asked, âWhen will Mr. Russell wake up?â
The leader of the medical team, an elderly doctor, adjusted his glasses and replied, âSoon, Once this cound of medication is administered, it should be no more than two days.â
âAlrightâ
Stanley breathed a sigh of reliet, and for the first time, a genuine smile appeared on his face. âThank you all for your hard work.â
âItâs no trouble at all,â the elderly doctor replied, waving dismissively. The other team members also shook their heads. For this assignment, the compensation from the Russell family was astronomical, enough to fund their laboratoryâs research for years. Eaming a billion dollars in a few days hardly felt like hard work.
Stanley turned to glance at Archie and said, âWeâve seen what we needed to. Letâs go. When Mr. Russell wakes up, heâll definitely want to see you.â
No one noticed the subtle way Archie clenched his fists upon hearing the doctorâs words.
Two days at most? This was his last chance!
If he didnât seize this opportunity to ensure that Stephan remained asleep forever, all his painstaking planning would be in vain!
He had spent years schemingâwinning over Imogen, infiltrating the Russell family, and fathering a child with her to solidify their bond. He was only one step away from controlling the entire Russell family!
He couldnât afford to fall now.
Lowering his gaze to hide his emotions, he said, âIâll stay here to look after Mr. Russell. I failed the mission he gave me, so this can be my way of atoning for my Incompetence. Stanley, you go take care of your own business. Leave this to me.â
âWell.. Suit yourself.â Stanley was indeed quite busy and didnât see any issue with leaving. With a full medical team on site and Archie being one of theirown, there was no reason to worry.
Soon, Stanley left the room.
Throughout the day, a few other subordinates stopped by to check on Stephan. They exchanged pleasantries with Archie, and when asked about his miraculous survival, he repeated the story he had prepared earlier.
Having been one of them before, Archie knew how to handle them. They had once fought sideâbyâside, and their camaraderie as brotherâinâarms remained intact. Even now, as a member of the Russell family, that fact would never change.
His return was a surprise to many, but their shared history meant they welcomed him back with genuine joy.
After dealing with his former comrades, Archie rubbed his face wearily. Noticing an assistant doctor preparing to Take Stephanâs temperature, he quickly stepped forward and said with a friendly smile, âHere, let me do itâ
