Chapter 258: Yue Yue, you’re a mother

Sima You Ming and the others were speechless.

Halcyon had clearly gone to take care of an egg that his friend had left behind, but it was described as his new wife. If he heard her say this, what kind of reaction would he have.

“Alright, Grandfather, Brothers, I’m leaving.” Sima You Yue waved to them and left the house.

She went to the Leader’s house and Sima Tai happened to be free.

“You want to leave?” Sima Tai asked her without waiting for her to speak.

Sima You Yue blinked in surprise, asking, “How did you know?”

Sima Tai smiled, “That kid with you should be the child from the previous Empress of the South Eclipse Kingdom. Right now, they have sent such tumultuous news, it’s natural you would run over the see the show.”

Sima You Yue never thought that Sima Tai knew about this as well and said, “An old fox is an old fox, can’t keep anything from you. Since you know, I do not need to say much.”

“Remember to take care and to participate in the meeting when the time comes.” Sima Tai said.

“I know.” Sima You Yue said, “I’m going to look for Halcyon now.”

“Go on.” Sima Tai waved his hands.

When Sima You Yue left, she went to a mountain outside Anyang City. She came to a cave and called out Little Roar to fuse with him, then she boldly entered the cave.

Inside the cave, Halcyon sensed that someone had entered. He opened his eyes to look outside, then closed them.

There was a stone table in front of him, and on it quietly lay an egg covered in veins. If one looked closely, there would be a golden colored line amongst those veins.

Sima You Yue entered while biting on a spirit fruit. She looked at Halcyon and said, “Halcyon, I’ve come to see your new wife.”

Halcyon was too lazy to open his eyes and didn’t bother about her.

Ever since she knew that there was a female bird inside, she kept calling it his wife. He had already grown immune to it by now.

Sima You Yue held the fruit with her mouth and walked two circles around that egg. After that, she took out two pill ingredients along with half a Golden Snake fruit, started a fire and directly threw those into the fire.

Right now, she could already directly use a fire to refine things. She didn’t have to use a furnace everytime anymore.

After she finished refining, she kept her fire away and placed the essence on the egg. It was absorbed very quickly.

Halcyon had already opened his eyes from the moment she began to refine the medicine. When he saw her hold the fruit in her mouth and refine those few pill ingredients, the corner of his mouth twitched.

Sima You Yue took out the spirit fruit, took a bite and said, “Halcyon, your wife has eaten a lot of quality things from me this year. When will she come out of her shell?”

“She’ll come out when it’s time to come out.” Halcyon said, “What did you come here for today?”

“Something came up.” Sima You Yue said.

She explained what happened then said she wanted to invite him to go with them to the South Eclipse Kingdom since it’d be safer.

After Halcyon heard it, he grew solemn for awhile. Then, he replied, “We’ll head out the day after tomorrow.”

“Why?” Sima You Yue asked, then she widened her eyes and looked at the egg, saying, “Could it be that your wife is going to be born?”

Halcyon glanced at her then closed his eyes and ignored her.

Sima You Yue didn’t care either. She and Little Roar both stared at the egg.

“Yue Yue, who knows, it might be born if you give it a few more things to eat.” Little Roar said.

“But it just absorbed quite a bite of quality stuff just now.” Sima You Yue said.

“Why don’t you give it some scarlet honey?” Little Roar said.

“I can do that. In any case, it is replenishable.” Sima You Yue nodded, then took out a jar of scarlet honey. She diluted it then dripped in onto the egg.

Halcyon watched them do this. In any case, it was beneficial to the bird egg. However, he didn’t feel like this would allow the bird to hatch earlier.

Half a day later, he suddenly heard the sound ‘ka-cha’. It was very soft, but it could not remain undetected his ears.

“Ah, coming out, coming out!” Sima You Yue hugged Little Roar and cried out in front of the egg.

“It really is, Yue Yue, do you think she will recognise us?” Little Roar said.

“Should be?” Sima You Yue said with uncertainty, “Don’t people always talk about some kind of bird complex?”

“Oh, who knows, she may recognise us.” Little Roar said.

“Kacha-”

The egg began to crack even more, such that even Halcyon walked over. The three of them stared at the egg.

“Kacha kacha-”

The speed of which the egg began to crack increased, and a bird head quickly popped out of the shell. She looked at Sima You Yue and Halcyon, saying a sentence that stunned the two of them.

She said, “Daddy, Mummy…”

“HAHAHA-” Little Roar hugged his tummy and guffawed. He pointed at Sima You Yue, saying, “Yue Yue, you’re a mother!”

Sima You Yue used both hands to pinch Little Roar, not letting him laugh at her.

“Mother? Mummy?” Little Bird looked curiously at Sima You Yue, then quickly grasped the phrase, looking at Sima You Yue and saying, “Mummy, mummy.”

Sima You Yue’s face was full of black lines, crying out, “I’m not your mummy, I’m not a big bird!”

But Little Bird didn’t care. She placed her head on her shall, staring at Sima You Yue with round eyes, calling her mummy.

Little Roar laughed until he couldn’t take it anymore. He pointed at Halcyon, asking, “Who is this?”

“Daddy.” Little Bird replied.

“Pfft- Is this your marriage ceremony?” Little Roar had already laughed until he was rolling around on the stone table.

Sima You Yue stretched forth a finger and poked Little Bird on her head, saying, “He is your husband, you are his wife, understand?”

Little Bird looked at Halcyon with puzzlement, then nodded her head saying, “Husband, husband.”

“This is right.” Sima You Yue smiled. However, she was still struck by what Little Bird said after that.

“Husband, Mummy.”

“Pfft- Hahaha” LIttle Roar was beyond himself in laughter. This Little Bird was too cute.

Even Halcyon could take it no longer. If he was Husband, and she was Mummy, then wouldn’t she be the Mother-in-law?

“Rainbow, I am your uncle. Your father’s friend.” He stretched forth a hand and poked Little Bird’s forehead, helping her receive all the knowledge of her heritage.

Little Bird’s gaze turned clearer as she understood about her species from her heritage. She also understood the difference amongst species.

“Uncle, thank you for saving me.” She looked at Halcyon with gratitude and then looked at Sima You Yue. Then, she called out, “Mummy.”

“I’m not your mother, don’t you know?” Sima You Yue said.

“But I like you. I could recognise you from inside my egg. You always gave me good food!” Little Bird said.

“You can call me Big Sister.” Sima You Yue said, then she corrected herself, “No way, if you call Halcyon ‘Uncle’ and me ‘Big Sister’, won’t he be one generation above me? You can just call him Big Brother.”

Halcyon’s face turned dark as he said coldly, “I’m from the same generation as her father. I’m older than you by a thousand years.”

“Old monster!” Sima You Yue spat softly.

In the end, Rainbow was just a small bird as firmed up the way she would call them, Big Sister and Uncle.

Sima You Yue saw Rainbow eating her own egg shells and suddenly recalled something, “Don’t Spirit Beasts have to reach Saint rank to be able to speak? She’s a Saint beast upon birth?!”
