Chapter 967 - The two Wei’s extend an invitation

On the second day, Mao San Quan called Sima You Yue over to the office.

She knocked on the door and entered. When she saw Mao San Quan, she greeted him, “Instructor Mao.”

Mao San Quan was currently looking outside the window. When he heard Sima You Yue’s greeting, he turned around, saying, “You’re back. Have you settled your things?”

“I have.” Sima You Yue replied, “Have you called me over for something?”

“I’ll let you take a look at something.” Mao San Quan said, “Take a look at this.”

He took a box out from a drawer, and inside it was a pitch black medicinal ingredient.

“Dragon Beard Grass? Why is it that colour?” Sima You Yue could recognise the herb, and was surprised when she saw that it was black in colour.

“Some things have happened in Cloud Sea City. This is one of the mutated herbs they found outside the city.” Mao San Quan explained.

“It caused the Dragon Beard Grass to change in colour? What happened?” Sima You Yue stretched a hand forwards, put it to her nose and took a light whiff. A disgusting smell greeted her.

“We don’t know what caused this yet. It’s not just the vegetation. Even the spirit beasts have gone crazy.” Mao San Quan said.

“The last time those from the ghost realm appeared, the spirit beasts went crazy as well. Could it be the machinations of those from the ghost clan again?” Sima You Yue speculated.

“We can’t eliminate this possibility, but we can’t be certain either.” Mao San Quan said, “The Ghost and Devil realm, poisons of the human clan… all of these could be a cause of it.”

“Where did this come from? What kind of place is the Cloud Sea City?” Sima You Yue asked.

“You don’t know about the Cloud Sea City?”

“Nobody has ever told me about it before.”

“Cloud Sea City is where the pill competitions are held.” Mao San Quan said, “This place has become the capital for Alchemists, but not everyone has the qualifications to go there.”

“How could something like that happen to that place? Or was it from before the pill competitions?” Sima You Yue asked.

“We find it strange as well. However, nobody has been able to find out the reason why. This happens to be a crucial time, so it shouldn’t be a coincidence that this kind of news has been released.” Mao San Quan said, “That is why we want to go earlier than we planned. We want to see whether or not we can help.”

“Based on our sect’s style of doing, we wouldn’t take the initiative right?” Sima You Yue teased.

“The pill oath requires it, and we’ve already put it off for a few days. If we continue to tarry, we may not even have to wait for a pill competition. They may just kick us out directly.” Mao San Quan said helplessly.

Sima You Yue saw the way he was behaving and knew that he had definitely delayed it again and again, until he couldn’t delay it anymore.

She suddenly thought of something and asked, “Why are you telling me this?”

“One reason is because we want you to mentally prepare yourself.” Mao San Quan glanced at her, “Another is because before your master left, he told us that he could look for you if any special circumstances occurred.”

“Look for me?” Sima You Yue’s eye bulged. Even the sect was unable to handle this, what was the use in looking for her?

She sighed, thinking of how Xu Jin’s life jade was still with Jiang Jun Xian, so she had no way to find out how he was doing.

“Elder Senior, how is Master?” She muttered.

Suddenly, there was a ripple in the air above her, and Sima you Yue thought that someone would appear. However, a portal appeared instead.

“Student You Yue, would you be willing to come over?” Big Wei’s voice sounded.

Big Wei was looking for her? Why didn’t he come over directly but chose to use this method instead?

She believed that they wouldn’t hurt her, so she calmed herself down before going into the space portal.

She arrived at the teleportation array outside the sect, and the two of them were not playing chess in the pavilion. Instead, they were seated still and upright, waiting for her to arrive.

“Greetings to you, Teachers.” Sima You Yue bowed in greeting.

Big Wei waved his hand, saying, “Do not call us teachers. We are not teachers of this sect.”

“Then what are you doing in here?” Sima You Yue was rather surprised. However, what she couldn’t figure out was why they wanted to tell her this?

“We made a bet with Old Yuan in the past and lost, so we had to agree to guard the sect for a few tens of years.” Big Wei explained.

Sima You Yue nodded her head with some understanding. She was wondering before, why Big Wei and Little Wei were so obviously well versed in arrays, but were just here standing guard. She finally found out that it was due to a lost gamble.

“Then why are you looking for me?”

Big Wei and Little Wei exchanged glances, and it was finally Big Wei who asked, “Did you obtain an array book?”

Sima You Yue was shocked and immediately thought of the book that Wu Lingyu had given her. Did they know that she had it in her possession?

Her mind whirled as the expression on her face remained the same. She smiled, “I do have array texts, many of them are from the school. My array master rarely has time to instruct me. What about it?”

When they heard Sima You Yue deflecting their question, Big Wei shook his head, “You know that’s not what we’re talking about.”

“What then?” Sima You Yue threw the question back.

“Don’t you have the book, Array Foundations?” Little Wei asked directly.

“Array Foundations?” Sima You Yue blinked, asking, “What book is that?”

“A sacred book in the array world.” Little Wei said.

Sima You Yue was about to deny it when Big Wei interrupted her, saying, “You don’t have to deny it. The fact that you were able to set up the Dragon Trapping Array in the dark forest is proof that you have possession of the book. The Dragon Trapping Array has already disappeared off the continent. It has only been recorded in one place, within the book, Array Foundations.”

Sima You Yue saw how certain they were, and didn’t say anything more. She didn’t agree directly either, choosing only to reply, “I did obtain an array book, but I don’t know if that’s the one you are talking about. It’s a really old book, and it doesn’t even have a name anymore.”

“Can we take a look at it?” Little Wei’s eyes shone as he asked excitedly.

“No.” Sima You Yue rejected him, “My senior is the one who gifted me that book. I can’t just casually lend it to others. I’m guessing that you, teachers, will not force anybody within the sect grounds, right?”

Fan Lei and Mao San Quan were still in the sect, so they would definitely not bully her into it.

“Relax, we do not plan to steal your book.” Big Wei saw that Sima You Yue immediately went on guard and explained.

He had thought of it before, but after he had understood her better, he gave up on that idea.

Sima You Yue did not continue speaking. She didn’t plan to ask them what they wanted, choosing only to stand there and stare at them.
