Chapter 1396
Married by Mistake: Mr. Whitman’s Sinner Wife
He fully understood how Felipe felt. Whether she was or was not Cathy, her existence was still a ray of hope to Felipe.
Madeline signed Jeremyâs discharge papers, and as they were on the way home, Madeline gave Sean a call. She asked if Eloise had been found yet, but Sean said no.
Eloise going missing had fueled Madelineâs unease.
Jeremy understood how Madeline felt. âDonât blame yourself, Linnie. This isnât your fault. Life is full of surprises and unexpected incidents, so we canât prevent everything. Mom could be on the way home for all we know.â
Madeline smiled softly, knowing that Jeremy was only trying to console and comfort her.
âYouâre right, Jeremy. Itâs also impossible for us to know if the unexpected would be something good or bad. Like Cathy.â She looked up to meet the manâs gaze. âDo you remember how you asked Cathy to return to Glendale and asked Adam for pain medication when we were in F Country back then?â
âYeah.â Jeremy nodded. âThatâs what I was wondering about just now. If she truly is Cathy, then itâd be likely that she exchanged contacts with Adam.â
âI hope itâs Cathy.â Madeline prayed internally. âHope is not lost as long as sheâs alive.â
âThat must be what Felipe is thinking too. As long as Cathyâs still alive, even if as someone elseâs wife, Iâm sure heâll be happy.â
Madeline agreed with Jeremy but how were they supposed to prove that Amy was Cathy?
Less than 20 minutes later, Madeline and Jeremy returned to the manor. The first thing she did was ask Karen about Eloiseâs situation. âDid my mom drop by, Mom?â
Karen was stunned. âDidnât she leave with the both of you this morning? What happened to your head, Jeremy? Whatâs with all the bandages?â
âItâs just a surface injury, Iâm alright,â Jeremy replied casually as he was more worried about where Eloise was. âStay home and take care of the kids, Linnie. Iâll go meet up with Dad. Mom canât go too far on her own.â
âStay home, Jeremy. I know you said youâre fine, but Iâm still worried.â Madeline held him back. âGo back to rest in the room.â
âIâm really alright,â Jeremy stressed.
Even so, Madeline was firm and gave a displeased expression. âI told you to go and rest, didnât I? Or do you want to fight about this?â
ââ¦â Jeremy conceded and returned to rest in the room as per Madelineâs orders.
Madeline exhaled a sigh of relief and notified Karen before she left the house to meet up with Sean.
The two made multiple rounds around the streets of Montgomery Manor, but there were no leads to where Eloise had gone.
Eloise had clearly walked into the ruins, so how did she just vanish into thin air?
Seconds turned into minutes, then minutes turned into hours. The sun had already begun to set before they knew it. Standing dazedly in the middle of the road where cars drove past beside her, Madeline frowned.
âWhere are you, Mom? Iâm so worried about you.â
Madelineâs expression was filled with frustration as she thought about the hardships and pain she had been through just for her family to finally reunite.
Now, her mother was missing.
With Eloiseâs mental state, Madelineâs concern intensified.
Madeline was about to call the police when her phone suddenly rang.
She picked up the call from Jeremy without hesitation. âI havenât found Mom yet, Jeremy.â
She stated straightforwardly, only to hear Jeremy speak in a strange tone. âCome home first, Linnie.â
Madeline found Jeremyâs tone unusual. âDo you have any news about Mom?â
Instead of explaining, Jeremy repeated himself and stressed, âCome home first, Linnie. You and Dad.â
âJeremy?â
