Chapter 277
Married by Mistake: Mr. Whitman’s Sinner Wife
After Madeline said that, the air around them froze instantly. The only sound that could be heard was the autumn wind howling on the roof. It was blowing past their faces again and again.
Eloiseâs expression changed as she looked at Madeline in disbelief. âW-What did you say? What did you just say?â
Sean also strode toward Madeline at this moment. He was looking at her with a questioning gaze.
âWhat nonsense are you spewing? My biological daughter is here. Sheâs well and alive! How can you curse her by saying that sheâs been dead for three years?!â
Madeline smiled sarcastically before letting go of Eloiseâs hand. âIâm not cursing your precious daughter. Iâm just repeating what was said,â she said calmly while pointing at Rose.
âI heard her saying this with my own two ears. She said your daughter has been dead since three years ago.â
âWhat?â
Eloise and Sean looked at Rose in disbelief.
âNonsense!â Rose denied. Despite feeling frantic, she did not show it. âMr. and Mrs. Montgomery, donât be fooled by this woman. Iâve never said such things!â
âVera Quinn, why are you slandering my adoptive mother? What do you want? Are you saying that Iâm not my parentsâ biological daughter? Are you trying to push me to my death by saying that?â Meredith yelled emotionally.
When Rose saw this, she said frantically, âMer, donât be emotional. Come down now. If anything happens to you, Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery will be so upset.â
When Eloise and Sean heard that, they looked at Meredith worriedly. On the other hand, Meredith shook her head with a sad and dispirited look on her face. âMom, Dad, do you believe this womanâs words? Do you think Iâm not your biological daughter? Is that why you donât care about me anymore?
Alright, fineâ¦â
She laughed bitterly while feeling like all hope was lost. âJeremy is ignoring me and you donât care about me anymore. So why should I keep on livingâ¦â
Meredith turned around after she said that. She took a step closer to the edge.
âMer! No! I believe you! Why wouldnât I believe you and instead believe someone else?â Eloise screamed. Her face had turned pale from fear.
âYou silly child! Why wouldnât we care about you? Donât do anything stupid!â Sean yelled to try and stop her. His voice was thick with worry. He was also petrified.
Madelineâs heart went cold when she saw Eloise and Seanâs reactions.
They would still choose to believe Meredith even after she had told them the truth.
Her pink lips were tugged into a smile as she laughed in self-mockery.
âMaybe itâs my face thatâs making me look so untrustworthy, be it back then or in the present.â
âVera Quinn, stop inciting disharmony! Get out of here now! If anything happens to my daughter, Iâll never forgive you!â Eloise yelled with anger in her eyes, âScram!â
Madeline looked into Eloiseâs enraged eyes. Although she was smiling softly, she did not leave and instead, walked closer to Meredith.
âStop!â Sean roared at her. His tone was strict when he said, âIf you dare to trigger my baby, Iâll make you regret this!â
After he finished saying that, Madeline stopped. She looked at the pretentious Meredith with her beautiful eyes.
âMeredith, your acting skills are so good. Itâs such a waste that you didnât go into showbiz.â
Meredith widened her red eyes aggrievedly. âVera, w-what do you mean?â
âDonât you understand what Iâm saying?â Madeline scoffed and questioned, âDonât you want to jump?
Hurry up. Donât waste our time.â
âWhat did you say, you b*tch?â Rose was the first one to run forward. âMr. and Mrs. Montgomery, look at this woman! Sheâs so evil! Sheâs provoking Mer so that sheâll jump!â
âVera Quinn!â Eloise yanked Madelineâs arm furiously. âVera Quinn, you witch! Youâre just as cruel as Madeline!â
