Chapter 320
Married by Mistake: Mr. Whitman’s Sinner Wife
Eloise had always been willing to do anything for her daughter, but she felt even more distressed when Meredith said this.
âMeredith, donât worry. Your mother will never allow you to be bullied so simply! I want everyone here today to take a clear look at Young Master Whitman whoâs the richest and most powerful man in Glendale but truly an indifferent scumbag. And this one named Vera Quinn whoâs also a despicable and shameless vixen!â
Gasp!
The guests were all shocked to hear Eloiseâs words.
Hearing this, it seemed that Vera Quinn was meddling in between Jeremy and Meredithâs relationship, causing Meredith to be abandoned.
âMom, donât say it, donât say it! Itâs all my fault. It has nothing to do with Jeremy and Miss Vera. Letâs go!â Meredith burst into tears, her weak and weeping appearance looking pitiful.
Many people had begun to side with her. After all, they knew little about the history of the relationship between Meredith and Jeremy while Vera looked like a third party.
Most of the guests gradually felt distressed for Meredith and cast their contempt and disgust at Madeline.
Jeremy observed the change in the atmosphere around him. He looked back, looking at Madeline with concern.
âAre you all right?â He raised his hand and brushed her cheek lightly with his fingers.
Madeline smiled gracefully and calmly. âHow could I not be fine just because of this slap? Iâm not that weak.â She smiled, looking at Eloise and Meredith, and at the same time, feeling the othersâ
contemptuous gazes on her whole body.
âMrs. Montgomery, everyone has to be responsible for what they do and say. Youâve hit me in front of so many people for no reason and you also called me as a vixen. Shouldnât you give a reasonable explanation?â
She smiled lightly, her proud eyes sweeping across the hostile and questioning eyes around her while her tone changed. âThe most annoying thing in my life has been being accused wrongly.â
She uttered the last few words very profoundly.
âAccused wrongly?â Eloise smiled contemptuously. âHave I wronged you? You are a vixen! And youâre cruel, mean, and shameless!â
âMom, donât speak anymore. Letâs go. We really canât afford to provoke this young lady. I donât want to suffer from a disaster like before. When I close my eyes now and think of it, they had each bullied me one by one. Iâm so sadâ¦â Meredith cried and stopped in her speech, but she was smiling in her heart while hoping that Eloise would continue to make things worse.
Eloise became even more distressed and hugged Meredith tightly, patting her back and comforting her.
Hearing Meredithâs words that were laced with implication, the people around them began to feel dissatisfied.
âIt seems that the previous rumors about Meredith being bullied by several men by turns were true. If thatâs the case, then she is really miserable.â
âListen to Meredithâs implication. Did Vera ask someone to do it?â
âIt must be. I didnât expect this Vera to have the beauty of a goddess but a poisonous heart. She is really vicious!â
âNot to mention how Young Master Whitman would abandon Meredith for this kind of woman.â
There was a lot of discussion going around. Meredith leaned in Eloiseâs arms and cried while laughing secretly. She was going to ruin Vera here today! She was going to take her revenge!
However, at this moment, she felt a cold current around her.
âIâve said not to mention the matter again. Why are you still bringing it up on this occasion?â Jeremyâs voice reached her ears coldly.
Meredithâs heart trembled and she was a little scared.
âJeremy, are you blaming Meredith? How can you actually say this? Things have already reached this point and yet you still defend this vixen! If it wasnât for the vixenâs plan, how could Meredith have been bullied? Meredith is obviously a victim. Not only do you not feel sorry for her and refuse to seek justice for her, but youâre still protecting this witch!â
Eloise glared at Jeremy angrily, disappointment and resentment clear in her gaze.
âWhat a waste of Meredithâs love for you! Jeremy, where is your conscience?â
Jeremyâs brows furrowed. His handsome face was already covered with frost and there was a stream of coldness shooting out from his eyes. âThis matter has nothing to do with Vera, so donât put any unnecessary charges on her head,â he spoke with a cold tone. Glancing at Meredith who was full of grievances and tears, he suppressed the anger in his heart.
âIâll say it again, this matter ends here. No one is allowed to mention it again.â
âJeremy, what are you doing? How can you treat Meredith like this? This vixen really instigated the matter, so how can I just let it go? Iâll call the police and have her arrested now! Iâll let her pay the tragic price!â
Mrs. Whitman rushed forward, defending Meredith righteously. âVera, you canât just forget it!â
âYes, you really canât do that.â
After a long silence, Madeline opened her mouth. She met those scornful eyes and looked at Jeremy distressedly.
âJeremy, I really donât want so many people to be fooled by Meredith and I donât want you to be accused of being a scumbag because of a woman like her, so Iâll have to violate my agreement with you and speak the truth of this matter.â
