Chapter 339
Married by Mistake: Mr. Whitman’s Sinner Wife
As he spoke, there was melancholy in his eyes all of a sudden.
After staying quiet for a few seconds, Jeremy said, âI owe it to her.â
âYou owe it to her?â
âYou owe it to her?
âJeremy, you owed me as well, but you forgot about it.â
Madeline laughed and did not ask anymore. She said slowly, âAlright, if thatâs the case, I wonât make it more difficult for you. However, if you say youâre serious about marrying me, then you should prove it.â
When he heard this, the melancholy on Jeremyâs face disappeared slightly. âWhat do you want me to do? I can do anything as long as itâs within my power.â
Madeline smiled. âEasy. Go to a place with me tomorrow. Iâll tell you where weâre going when you pick me up tomorrow morning.â
âOkay,â Jeremy answered without hesitating.
For some reason, looking at the smile on that face in front of him, Jermey felt more cheerful than before.
Jeremy went back to his house, and the moment he entered, he saw Meredith running toward him.
âJeremy, youâre finally home.â Her face was filled with worry and she was evidently flustered. âI was so scared that you wouldnât come back.â
Jeremy walked around her coldly as he spoke in a sarcastic tone, âWhy arenât you preparing for the wedding? Why are you here?â
âYouâre my groom. Who will I go to if I donât come to you?â Meredith walked in front of Jeremy shyly.
âJeremy, Iâm finally going to become your bride. Iâm so happy.â
Jeremy looked at her and smiled superficially. âAs long as youâre happy. If youâre done being happy, remember to give me back what belongs to me.â
ââ¦â The smile on Meredithâs face froze while her shy look from earlier had disappeared as well. She knew that Jeremy was talking about Madelineâs ashes.
He was very concerned about Madeline indeed.
Thankfully, he did not have a clue that Madeline was the little girl he had been thinking about for the past ten years.
If he knew about that, he would be crazily in love with Madeline.
Meredith was secretly relieved. Then, she smiled flatteringly.
âJeremy, I know youâre still blaming me. Itâs fine. As long as I can marry you and become your wife, Iâm willing to be misunderstood,â she said understandably before frowning.
âHowever, Jeremy, donât get fooled by that Vera Quinn. Sheâs not a good person. Sheâs in a relationship with your uncle one second, and in the next second, she claims to be pregnant with your child. Itâs fine if she looks the same as Maddie, but theyâre also equally fickle.â
âEnough,â Jeremy said in agitation. His sharp gaze scanned across Meredith before he continued, âJust because Iâm not saying some things out loud doesnât mean I donât know about them. Stop challenging my patience. My patience for you has a limit.â
ââ¦â Meredith was speechless. Her body went cold after Jeremy looked at her with an icy gaze.
âHas he seen my dark past online?
âDid he also see the intimate photos of me and Tanner?
âNo.
âJeremy hasnât seen them. If he has, he wouldâve questioned me about it.â
She thought about it wishfully and put on her aggrieved mask again.
âJeremy, Iâm sorry. I wonât say things like that to upset you again.â Meredith apologized. Her eyes looked extremely pitiful. âJeremy, the staff from the bridal shop called me. We can go for the fitting tomorrow. Iâve been waiting for this day for so long.â
âIâm not free.â Jeremy rejected her coldly. Then, he turned around to go upstairs.
Meredithâs smile cracked. âJeremy, if you donât have time tomorrow, I can change it to the day after.â
âI donât have time the day after as well. If you want to try on wedding dresses, you should go yourself.â
ââ¦â
Meredith wanted to keep pestering him, but looking at his cold figure. She chose silence.
She clenched her fists and gritted her teeth. Her heart was filled with dissatisfaction and anger.
However, she managed to suppress them.
It was fine. If he did not want to go to the fitting with her, then she would go herself.
