Alpha King’s Lost Luna
Chapter 250
CASSANDRA
I froze in place and my heart pounded in my chest as my head drowned with what felt like a million thoughts.
Had I heard Finnick correctly?
Did my son mean to tell me that Lila was a sorceress?
I knew he didnât know the word âsorceressâ nor did I explain to him what kind of tricks Raven had played during that visit to our chamber. So, there was little chance that he was making this entire thing up. Besides, Finnick wasnât a liar.
So, did that mean
Finnickâs gray eyes grew wider still and he glanced around the room as if to make sure that no one would hear us.
âMommy, Lila can read my mind,â he uttered, his voice filled with a mixture of shock and amazement as his intensely into mine.

I forced down the lump that had formed in my throat and searched for the right thing to say. If this was truly the case, I needed to speak with Lila and try to get to the bottom of what was going on.
A child sorceress⦠it was a concept Iâd never considered before, but it made a great deal of sense. Raven, Roxy, Ronald⦠they all probably grew up with the ability to wield magic. To someone who didnât possess such abilities, it all sounded so fantastical and incredible.
âWell, if thatâs the case, I would like to talk to Lila,â I decided after I took a couple of moments to gather myself. âI want to know whatâs going on for myself, okay? Until then, letâs keep this between us.â

The next day, Ms. Benn dropped Lila off at our room in the afternoon, just as she usually did.
âIâm still working on the guest list, Miss Cassandra,â she said quietly before she left the room. âIâll have it to you in two days.
Is that suitable?â
Though I wanted it earlier than that, I nodded my head. âThatâs fine. Thank you, Ms. Benn.â
The head housekeeper nodded, and then she closed the door behind her as she left.
Usually, after Ms. Benn departed, I would check Lilaâs blood pressure, ask the little girl a few questions, and then make sure she took her medicine. Once all of that was handled, I would leave Finnick and Lila alone to play, and then Erika, read some books, or just contemplate our situation, worrying about this or that.
go talk with
Normally, Lila seemed cold and bored as she spoke to me, her ice-blue eyes intense as they stared at me. Her gaze usually sent a chill down my spine, but as I stared back at her today, I felt a small ache in my heart.
Was this poor, pretty girl in trouble?
âLila, can I speak with you?â I asked after she took her medicine, âJust you and me, please?â
I half-expected her to roll those large eyes and ignore me, but instead, she nodded seriously. Finnick started to walk over but I shook my head gently at him. I didnât have to utter a single word. He seemed to understand what was happening, though he pouted a litle at being left out
Friks sensed that something more was going on and quietly escorted him away from us.

Chapter 250
Once we were alone, I asked Lila to sit with me. She complied without complaint and after I took a moment to gather myself, I smiled at her.
âLila, how old are you?â I wondered.
âFive,â she answere politely. I was a little surprised by this. I knew she couldnât be much older than Finnic
expression was so serious that I thought she was at least six or seven. Of course, her b*dy was so small and
appeared fragile, as if she could break at any given moment.
I smiled at her again. âThatâs a wonderful age. Now, Iâm sure youâre wondering what I want to talk about. Finnick⦠he me about your special abilities-â
Lila suddenly huffed and cursed under her breath, using some vulgar words that surprised me.
âI knew Finnick couldnât be trusted,â she growled quietly.
I reached out and touched her arm. âThatâs exactly the reason why you told him about your ability. You wanted me to know, didnât you, honey?â
Lilaâs cheeks flushed a dark rose color and she didnât deny it.
âWhy did you want to tell me?â I continued. âArenât you afraid Iâll tell someone else?â
She shook her head firmly and stared into my eyes. âYou wouldnât. Ever since Finnick told me that you were both going to leave the country, I knew my secret was safe with you.â
I wanted to smirk. Lila was smart. She was not only acting like an adult but also thinking like an adult. Though she was merely five years old, she was evaluating her circumstances and making the bold yet right decision.
I only hoped it would pay off.
âWhat do you want from me?â I wondered gently.
âHasnât Finnick told you already?â she said in a slightly irritated voice. âI want to leave this country. I want to go with you.â
âYou know this canât happen, right?â I asked her softly, making sure to remain polite and respectful. âYour mother would never agree to it, Lila-â
âI donât care what my mother thinks,â she cut me off quickly. âShe only wants to use me. My mother knows Iâm a sorceress but doesnât know what I can do exactly. Once she does, sheâs going to make use of me. Iâm certain of it.â
âDonât think like that,â I tried to urge her. âYou donât know how much your mother loves you.â
Lilaâs stare suddenly became spiteful. It was a strange expression to see on such a young child, and I was suddenly taken aback by it.
âItâs you who doesnât understand,â she fired back. âI know my mother much better than you do, Cassandra.â
Though I didnât agree with her sudden intensity, I didnât argue with her. Perhaps Lila was right. Either way, I wasnât here to talk about Ms. Benn. I was more interested in finding out more about Lilaâs identity and abilities.
âIs your father a sorcerer?â I asked her, shifting the subject.
âI donât think so, she answered. âAnd I donât think Ms. Benn is my real mother as well. I think Iâm adopted and thatâs why Iâm mistreatedâ
Hes pale blue eyes filled with tears and her voice trembled a bit. My heart ached for the child, and I thought she was going to elaborate more, but she didnât. I was so surprised by all of this

When Ms. Benn had told me about her experience, how her Pack had been attacked and her husband was killed, sheâd never mentioned which Pack it was.
But Lila shook her head. âI donât know. I lost a lot of my memories.â
I nodded and tried to assess the situation. I noticed that Lilaâs words were inconsistent. She seemed to
stress and probably had a lot of trauma to work through. The poor girl seemed like sheâd been through a empathize with her strongly.
âCan you demonstrate your abilities to me?â I wondered.
Lila grew serious and shook her head. âI canât read your mind, Cassandra. Youâre the only one Iâve never been able to read. Thatâs also why I decided to tell you about my abilities. I believe weâre the same.â
