Her assistant entered the room, ready to collect the signed contracts. She paused upon seeing Madisyn’s pensive expression.

“Miss Johns, is there anything else you’d like me to handle?”

Madisyn shook her head with a faint smile.

“No, I was just trying to decide what to eat for lunch. You can take these.”

The assistant took the contracts but didn’t leave immediately. After a moment of hesitation, she spoke again.

“There’s a new restaurant on the sixth floor of the mall nearby. I tried it recently, and it’s fantastic. Their dishes are refreshing and perfect for this weather.”

Madisyn hadn’t been craving anything in particular, but the suggestion sparked her interest. She looked up at the assistant and smiled.

“That sounds promising. Let’s try it for lunch. Would you like to join me?”

The assistant was momentarily caught off guard by Madisyn’s warm smile but quickly recovered. She shook her head politely.

“Thank you for the kind offer, Miss Johns, but I’ve already made plans for lunch with a friend.”

Madisyn nodded understandingly.

“No problem. If you’ve got plans, I won’t hold you up. It’s almost time to clock out anyway—you can get ready to head out.”

Madisyn grabbed her phone, bag, and car keys, deciding to check out the restaurant herself.

The mall was bustling, with families, couples, and groups of friends filling the space, moving from store to store. By the time Madisyn reached the sixth floor, nearly every restaurant had a line of people waiting outside. Based on her past outings with Susan, Madisyn figured the recommended restaurant would likely be full too. Yet, luck was on her side. The waiter at the entrance saw she was alone and led her to the only available single-person table.

Once seated, she flipped through the menu, ordering a selection of the restaurant’s signature dishes.

The ambiance was entirely different from the private rooms of the high-end restaurants she usually dined in with Andrew. This restaurant, situated in the heart of a bustling shopping mall, was alive with chatter and laughter. Tropical plants and traditional decor gave the space a lively, welcoming vibe.

For a moment, Madisyn was transported back to her younger days, wandering night markets with friends, indulging in fried chicken and grilled skewers.

When the dishes arrived, each plate was a feast for the eyes, beautifully presented and bursting with color. Her appetite awakened instantly.

Pulling out her phone, Madisyn snapped a few photos of the vibrant dishes. She couldn’t resist sending them to Andrew.

“Look! Found a great spot today!”
