Chapter 1265
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 1265:
Nola and Jared escorted Lilian to the dimly lit basement. Jared was lost in thought, pondering how to explain everything to Nola. But Nola spoke first.
âMr. Cooper, no need for explanations. Leave now. Iâll keep an eye on Lilian and ensure she doesnât foil your plans.â
Lilian, lying on the ground, seethed with fury. But with her mouth stuffed, she couldnât get a single word out.
Jared, deeply grateful, murmured, âThank you for this, Nola.â
âItâs nothing. You saved me too. Iâm still waiting for you to take me out of here,â Nola said softly, shaking her head.
Jaredâs gaze lingered on Nola for a moment. He nodded and replied, âOkay,â before making his exit.
As Jaredâs figure disappeared into the shadows, Nolaâs expression hardened. She turned to Lilian and yanked the gag from her mouth.
âYou traitor, Nola! How could you side with Jared against me? Do you even know what heâs done?â Lilian spat.
âUntie me this instant! Iâll gather my people and drag him back myself!â
Even now, despite her clear difficult situation, Lilian didnât grasp the gravity of it. She still spoke as if Nola were nothing more than a foolish girl blindly helping the wrong person.
Nola remained silent, letting Lilianâs fury wash over her.
After a while, Lilian sensed something was wrong. She tilted her head, trying to locate Nola.
âNola?â she called out uncertainly.
âYes, Lilian,â Nola responded coldly, arms crossed.
A chill crept up Lilianâs spine. This wasnât the Nola she knew. The Nola in her memory would never have dared to speak to her like that. Her throat went dry as unease settled over her. Something was slipping from her grasp.

Forcing her tone into something softer, more coaxing, she tried again.
âNola, do you know I was supposed to attend an important government meeting with Dad today? If I donât return soon, heâll realize something is wrong. Heâll investigate. I know youâre naive, and Jared has blinded you with his act. But if you let me go now, I wonât hold this against you. Didnât you always want money? Just tell me howâ¦â much.
âOr is it something else? Whatever it is, I can make it happen.â As she spoke, she discreetly worked at the knot behind her back.
Nola chuckled, cutting her off.
âSave your breath, Lilian. Do you really think I donât know what kind of person you are?â She crouched in front of Lilian, her eyes raking over her face.
âInstead of trying to fool me, you should be worrying about whatâs going to happen to your Perkins family now that Mr. Cooper has taken those things from you.â
âOur Perkins family? Nola, have you forgotten? Youâre part of the Perkins family too!â
Nolaâs expression darkened. Without hesitation, she picked up a wooden stick lying nearby and brought it down hard on Lilianâs struggling wrists.
A sharp cry of pain tore from Lilianâs lips as cold sweat beaded on her forehead.
âNola! How dare you hit my hands!â
Nola remained unfazed, gripping the stick tighter.
