Chapter 1294
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 1294:
After watching Elton and his assistant depart, Andrew and Madisyn followed a servant into the living room.
âGrandfather,â Andrew called out as they entered. He set down their gifts and led Madisyn to sit down with him.
Despite all her mental preparations and imagined scenarios, nothing had quite prepared Madisyn for the commanding presence of Andrewâs maternal grandfather in the flesh.
She bowed respectfully to the white-haired man who occupied the seat of honor, his bearing alone demanding reverence.
Though advanced in years, Denby Thatcher, Andrewâs maternal grandfather, radiated competence and authority. Time had etched its mark upon his features, yet he sat ramrod straight, emanating an almost tangible aura of power.
His penetrating gaze settled on Madisyn.
âSo youâre Madisyn. Andrew has spoken of you. Indeed, you look impressive!â
Andrew knew his grandfather to be sparing with praise. From his understanding of the old manâs nature, this was clear evidence of genuine approval.
A soft smile graced Andrewâs features as he engaged in conversation with his grandfather. However, midway through their discussion, the elderly manâs attention suddenly shifted to Madisyn.
âThere are matters I wish to discuss with you privately, Madisyn.â
Andrewâs grip tightened protectively around Madisynâs hand. She gave his fingers a gentle, reassuring squeeze.
âItâs okay, Iâll go with your grandfather.â
Witnessing Andrewâs protective reaction, Denby arched an eyebrow, his voice taking on a stern yet almost amused tone.
âWhy such anxiety? Iâm not going to devour her soul!â

Andrewâs lips tightened before he reluctantly released Madisynâs hand.
Outside the military compound, Elton settled into his vehicle, methodically pulling on a pair of black leather gloves. Gazing back toward the direction they had come, he spoke in hushed tones.
âLook into Madisynâs background. Andrew is reckless to have brought her here just like that. While Commander Thatcher acquiesced due to family bonds, we mustnât let sentiment override caution. Itâs our duty to conduct a thorough investigation.â
Denbyâs influence cast long shadows in both military and political spheres.
As Denbyâs direct subordinate, Elton had long held a position of trust and favor. With Denby advancing in years, and the tragic loss of his daughterâwhom he had groomed with such careâduring a mission, many whispered that Elton was being shaped as his successor.
The assistant, Lowe Cohen, ever dutiful, responded without hesitation, âIâll begin the investigation immediately upon our return.â
In the study, Madisyn trailed behind Denby, her mind dancing with possibilities about what he might want to discuss.
The study contained just a single chair, yet neither Madisyn nor Denby chose to occupy it.
Denby approached the bookshelf before turning to face Madisyn, who stood poised in the roomâs center.
âMadisyn, can you do me a favor?â
âWhat kind of favor?â Madisyn stepped forward eagerly.
