Chapter 137
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 137:
âNo need.â
Howard approached Madisyn, patted her hand reassuringly, and said softly, âI donât have feelings for her anymore.â
Seeing how kind Howard was and how he took the time to comfort her, Madisyn felt a pang of sadness. How could such a good man be abandoned?
Howard had prepared dinner, and Madisyn took a bite, pleasantly surprised. She had assumed that since Howard wasnât well, his cooking might not be great, but his skills were comparable to those of professional chefs.
âHoward, youâre incredibly talented. You can cook, and youâre a scientific research doctorate. What flaws could you possibly have?â Madisyn asked earnestly.
âThere are many.â
Howard paused to think and then added, âSometimes, Iâm out of touch with the way the world works.â
âThatâs perfectly fine. You donât need to worry about that,â Madisyn reassured him immediately. Being straightforward was not a fault.
They continued talking into the evening. After bidding Howard farewell, Madisyn returned to the main house.
In the living room, Elaine stopped Madisyn and asked, âDid you have dinner at Howardâs tonight?â
âYes.â
Elaine sighed and said, âHoward doesnât want to see us, but heâs happy to see you. Itâs clear he really cares about you, Madisyn. Try to visit your brother more when you have the time.â
âMom, I will,â Madisyn smiled.
Elaine was now content, looking forward to the day Howard would regain his confidence. Madisyn then returned to her room to rest.

The next day, upon arriving at the office, Madisyn noticed Teresa arranging flowers on her desk.
âWow, Teresa, who sent those to you?â Everyone nearby was visibly envious.
Teresa smiled but remained silent.
âOnly a wealthy man would send flowers to Teresa,â commented someone nearby.
âNot necessarily,â Teresa replied nonchalantly, yet her eyes twinkled with joy. She was clearly pleased with the sender of the flowers.
This piqued everyoneâs curiosity further. Madisyn glanced over briefly but quickly looked away, uninterested in delving into personal matters. After finalizing details with the brand, she took Evie to the photo shoot.
Upon entering the studio, Madisyn and Evie encountered two familiar faces.
âWhoâs this?â Jenna removed her sunglasses and scrutinized Madisynâs face. With a mocking grin, she said, âOh, after being let go by Natural Beauty, have you become a junior employee somewhere else? Madisyn, whatâs happened to you? Youâre a master of dance. Couldnât you just teach dancing? To chase after a man, youâve really let yourself go. I have no respect for that.â Jenna shook her head, displaying evident disdain.
Giana observed Madisyn intently. She hadnât imagined Madisyn would end up like this. In her memory, Madisyn had always been assertive and clever. Yet now, in pursuit of Dane, she had followed him to the Johns Group headquarters. It was Teresa who had spilled this piece of gossip. Since she started hanging out with Jenna, Giana had gotten close to Jennaâs group.
âYou still enjoy poking your nose into othersâ affairs. Itâs no wonder youâre disliked,â Madisyn retorted coolly to Jenna, without a hint of anger.
This caught Jenna off guard, and she said, âWho doesnât like me? Who said that?â
Madisyn didnât respond and walked past her with Evie.
Annoyed, Jenna persisted, âMadisyn, tell me, who said that?â
Madisyn simply ignored her.
âYou infuriate me! Bitch!â Jenna was livid.
Giana observed Madisyn and noticed that no matter the circumstances, she maintained her composure, effortlessly leaving Jenna at a loss for words with just a few comments.
As soon as Madisyn and Evie stepped into the photographerâs office, they were warmly welcomed by the brand team. Upon seeing Evie, the director was visibly impressed. âI knew Evie was pretty from the photos, but sheâs even more stunning in person!â
Evieâs beauty wasnât the typical, ubiquitous kind seen online; she had a distinctive allure, with an edgy yet mesmerizing quality that drew people in. The director was particularly captivated by Evie, unable to look away.
âHello, Mr. Ruiz,â Madisyn said.
Elliot Ruiz looked puzzled when he saw Madisyn. âWho are you? We were only expecting one star, right?â
Madisyn, equally striking, stood next to Evie without being overshadowed. What a pleasant sight! Elliotâs spirits lifted. âBut youâre welcome to join us if youâd likeâ¦â
âIâm the one who arranged this meeting,â Madisyn said.
Ah, so she was from the marketing department.
âAlright, letâs get ready to start shooting,â Elliot said, continuing to admire Evie.
Evie felt uncomfortable. Elliotâs gaze seemed slightly inappropriate. However, considering the difficulty of securing this opportunity, she decided it was best to proceed with the shoot.
âWait!â a voice interrupted.
It was Jenna, who approached Elliot with a self-assured grin.
