Chapter 146
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 146:
A shadowy figure moved past the door of Gianaâs room unnoticed. Meanwhile, Evie returned to her own room, her spirits lifted. She had never realized she could draw so much attention through singing. In fact, she had only ended up studying music in college by chance. Her true passion had always been acting.
That was why she hadnât taken her music studies seriously in college. Instead, she focused on acting after joining Edge Entertainment. Unfortunately, her acting skills werenât particularly strong, leaving her feeling like she lacked talent in everything she tried. But today was different.
âMadisyn, I made it to the final!â Evie exclaimed, her excitement palpable as she hugged Madisyn and spun her around in circles. Suddenly, Madisynâs leg collided with the wall.
Evie quickly set her down, her face filled with concern. âOh no, Iâm so sorry! Are you okay?â
Madisyn gritted her teeth against the pain but managed a reassuring smile. âIâm alright, really. You were fantastic today.â
Evieâs excitement bubbled over again. âSeriously? You were the fantastic one! Your songwriting was absolutely amazing! And, hey, isnât this songâs style super similar to the first song Giana sang in that previous singer-songwriter competition?â
Madisynâs smile faded slightly as she looked down, her voice tinged with quiet acknowledgment. âThatâs because⦠I wrote it.â
Evieâs jaw dropped in surprise.
âWait, what? You wrote that?â
Madisyn quickly covered Evieâs mouth. âNo need to get so excited.â
Evie, muffled for a moment, managed to respond, âIâm not excited, just shocked. But why did Giana claim she wrote it herself?â
Mâáµ£â ᵤâdââââ áµ¢â gââââáµ¥âââ.ð¸ââ
Madisyn shrugged, her tone casual. âWho knows? Just focus on the final.â
âRight, got it!â Evie agreed.
Since Evie had finished her singing, the two of them decided to leave. As they walked, a familiar face approachedâErica Russell, her eyes shining with admiration.
âEvie, you were amazing!â Erica exclaimed.
Evie smiled warmly at Erica, whom she had always liked. âOh, hey! Youâre competing too, right? You havenât sung yet, have you?â
âNot yet,â Erica replied. âIâm still waiting for my turn. But I heard you sing, and wow, it was beautiful. Evie, youâre my idol.â
Evie felt a bit bashful at the praise, scratching her head. âYouâre too kind. I remember you have a great voice too. Youâve got this.â
Erica grinned. âThanks! Iâll do my best. Hopefully, weâll both be in the final together.â
âThat would be awesome,â Evie said, returning Ericaâs smile.
After Erica left, Madisyn turned to Evie. âWho was that?â
âSheâs a singer I met earlier. Her nameâs Erica Russell. Sheâs really talented,â Evie replied. âSheâs from Global Entertainment.â
The mention of Global Entertainment definitely caught Madisynâs attention. If Erica was from Global Entertainment, she had to be good. Global Entertainment was the top entertainment company at the moment. Still, Madisyn believed that Edge Entertainment should hold that title if only the company hadnât been bogged down by so many ineffective employees under Kristineâs leadership.
Once they returned to the office, Evie went straight to her vocal practice, while Madisyn headed to her desk. Meanwhile, Teresa seemed to be enjoying herself lately. She had been receiving roses daily and was practically glowing with high spirits.
Madisyn didnât particularly care who Teresa was involved with. However, when she got off work, she spotted Teresa with a guy in the parking lot. He had his back to her, but his physique was impressive. Was Teresa dating someone from the company?
Madisynâs brows furrowed with curiosity. Although the company didnât forbid relationships between employees, it was frowned upon for someone from the marketing department to be involved with a celebrity. How could Teresa be so reckless?
Still, as long as she didnât stir up any trouble, Madisyn figured it wasnât her concern. She turned to get into her car, but then the guy with Teresa turned his head, giving Madisyn a clear view of his face.
A jolt of recognition hit her. Wasnât that⦠Evieâs boyfriend?
Madisyn blinked, thinking she must have been mistaken. She looked again to be sure. Teresa, meanwhile, noticed Madisyn staring and felt a mix of irritation and smugness. Madisyn must be taken by her manâs good looks too! But, too bad for Madisyn, he belonged to her.
âLetâs get in the car,â Teresa said with a satisfied smile.
âSure,â the man replied, his slight smile making his already good-looking face even more captivating.
Teresa felt giddy. Not only could she admire a male star up close, but he was actually dating her. She felt like she was living the dream. The male star gallantly opened the car door for Teresa, and she slipped into the passenger seat.
It was a Mercedes-Benzâproof that stars were indeed wealthy. As the door closed behind her, Teresa couldnât help but think that being with him might just be the best thing that had ever happened to her.
âTeresa, Iâm sorry I couldnât offer you something better. I doubt youâve ever been in such a modest car before,â the guy suddenly remarked, his tone apologetic.
Snapping back to reality, Teresa remembered her supposed identity as a wealthy heiress. âWell, even if itâs true, I donât mind it at all,â she replied.
âTeresa, youâre the most down-to-earth rich lady Iâve ever met,â the man said, gazing at her with what seemed like genuine affection. âIf Iâm lucky enough to be with you, I promise Iâll always treat you right.â
Teresaâs heart raced. âAre you with me because of my family background?â she asked.
âOf course not!â the guy replied quickly, his expression shifting to one of slight hurt. âTeresa, I like you for who you are. Do you really think Iâm after your money?â
âOh, I was just teasing,â Teresa said hastily, seeing his reaction and wanting to soothe him. His words warmed her heart, and she felt a wave of relief. It seemed her personality had won him over, not her supposed wealth.
Feeling reassured, Teresa continued her date, enjoying the manâs company without any lingering doubts. Meanwhile, after Madisyn got into her car, she couldnât shake the uneasy feeling. She decided to call Evie.
âHey, how are things between you and your boyfriend these days?â she asked, her tone casual but probing.
