Chapter 147
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 147:
Evie replied, âWeâre good. He promised to watch my competition today, but unfortunately, something urgent came up.â
âWhat came up?â Madisyn inquired.
Evie explained, âHe told me his sister had returned and he needed to pick her up. Sheâs been abroad. Itâs rare for her to come back, so he had to go.â
Madisyn was speechless.
Was Teresa his sister? That couldnât be.
Madisyn thought to herself, shaking her head. Despite her fiery temper, Evie was quite naive and straightforward. This guy was deceitful. He was with her but didnât seem to value her.
âYour boyfriend doesnât know about your family background, does he?â Madisyn asked.
âOf course not. Most people think Iâm from an ordinary family. I wonât disclose my family background until Iâve made a name for myself and proved my worth.â
Evie was resolute. Her family opposed her entering show business, so she was determined to stun them with her success and show that she could stand on her own.
âThatâs wise. But I think you should keep a closer eye on your boyfriend,â Madisyn advised.
Evie asked in confusion, âMadisyn, what do you mean?â
Madisyn let out a sigh. After a pause, she said, âI saw him with Teresa.â

âWhat?â Evie quickly laughed it off, saying, âOh, youâre overthinking it. He mentioned that his connection with Teresa was purely for professional reasons. She handles his business matters. He needs to stay on good terms with her. Donât worry, Madisyn. He really is a good guy!â
Madisyn felt a flicker of irritation. âIs staying on good terms with her supposed to involve giving her flowers?â
âThis is just standard professional practice,â Evie replied, her innocence evident.
Madisyn took a deep breath. Aware that it was futile to reason with someone blinded by love, she resignedly advised, âJust keep a closer eye on him, alright?â
After ending the call, Madisyn headed home.
Upon entering the living room, she spotted Andrew in conversation with Howard.
âAndrew? Howard?â Madisyn approached and took a seat.
âMadisyn.â Howard greeted her with a smile and affectionately patted her head. âYouâre home.â
âYes, and you areâ¦â Madisyn looked at the two men, slightly puzzled.
Andrew clarified, âHoward has agreed to partner with our company. Heâs here to sign the contract.â
âThank you for making the trip, Mr. Klein. Iâm not able to travel much right now, but I think Iâll be able to go to Ansport in about a week,â Howard said.
Madisyn suddenly interjected, âWhat? Youâre heading back to Ansport?â
Andrew nodded.
Madisyn fell silent, a complex emotion washing over her. They were about to part ways. Ansport and Gemond were far apart; it wouldnât be easy to see each other often.
âDonât worry. Iâll make frequent trips back here. Plus, the Klein Group and the Johns Group are now collaborating extensively. The Johns Group is planning to expand into Ansport. Dane will likely go there soon, and you could go with him,â Andrew reassured her softly.
Howard looked at Andrew, surprised by his tenderness. It was unusual for Andrew to show such warmth to anyone.
Madisyn suddenly remembered her own company was also based in Ansport. She hadnât visited in years and suddenly felt a pang of guilt.
âOkay.â
âYouâre back, Madisyn. Letâs have dinner together.â Elaine emerged from the kitchen, clearly delighted to see Madisyn. It was always heartwarming during family gatherings, and all this joy was possible because of Madisyn. Without her, Howard would not be here.
Then, everyone pitched in to set the table. The mood around the dinner table was warm and harmonious.
âSince Madisyn came back, our family has become better and better,â Elaine exclaimed with a smile. âCome on, letâs toast.â
Everyone raised their glasses.
âThereâs nothing better than being together as a family!â Elaine observed with a sigh of contentment.
Dane, just arriving home from work, caught these words. He slowed his steps, taking in the sight of everyone at the table, laughing and talking spiritedly. It looked like a scene from a joyful family reunion. Suddenly, he felt a bit like an outsider.
âMom, Iâm home,â Dane said, hesitating slightly.
Elaine, engrossed in the lively conversation, didnât turn around to look at him.
Dane felt a bit lost. It was Glenn who noticed him and said, âGo wash up and join us for dinner.â
Dane quietly washed his hands and took his place at the table. Howard was serving Elaine some food, and Andrew was doing the same for Madisyn.
Feeling even more out of sync, Dane served some food to Glenn.
Glenn looked at him suspiciously. âWhat do you want from me?â
Dane was at a loss for words. Why wasnât Waylon home? He had no one to vent his frustrations to.
Frustrated, Dane opened WhatsApp and sent a single period to Waylon.
