Chapter 174
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 174:
Several days passed peacefully at the Johns familyâs home. It was rare for Waylon to be home for a few days, so he seized the chance to spend time with Madisyn. If not for the fear of revealing Madisynâs identity at the company, Waylon would have accompanied her to the office every day. Unfortunately, a few days later, Waylon had to leave once more. Before he departed, he handed a few concert tickets to Madisyn.
âMadisyn, my concert is the day after tomorrow. You have to be there,â Waylon said, looking at her with eager eyes.
âOkay,â Madisyn replied, finding it nearly impossible to refuse him.
Waylonâs face lit up with a smile at her agreement, and he dropped Madisyn off at the company before leaving.
That day, the office was abuzz with excitement.
Everyone was discussing the upcoming concert. âIâm so excited! Waylon hasnât had a concert in Gemond for ages.â
âMe too! But I didnât manage to get a ticket. I guess Iâll have to listen from the outside.â
âMy friend snagged a ticket. It cost over two thousand dollars! Expensive, but totally worth it if I can go.â
They felt a pang of both envy and jealousy. Suddenly, everyoneâs gaze shifted to Teresa.
âTeresa, with your connections, you can definitely get in, right?â someone asked eagerly.
Teresa smiled at their envious faces. âI happen to have a few tickets. Whoâs interested?â
Everyone was pleasantly surprised. Even those who typically didnât get along with Teresa were intrigued. Waylonâs popularity was undeniable, and everyone was eager to attend the concert.
Feeling as though she was in the spotlight, Teresa basked in their attention. âBut I only have five, soâ¦â
âTeresa, pick me! Iâve been a fan of Waylon for years,â someone hastened to say.
âTeresa, weâre good friends. Please take me along,â another person chimed in.
They vied for Teresaâs favor, and Teresa replied, âIâll give it some thought.â
At that moment, she spotted Madisyn walking in. Teresaâs expression clouded with displeasure. Days had passed, and still, nothing had happened to Madisyn. What was the Cruz family doing? They couldnât even deal with one woman.
As she silently mocked the Cruz family, Teresa noticed messages flashing up in her high school group chat.
âThe Cruz family has declared bankruptcy. Oh my God!â
âHow? Did not see that coming. Asher was just bragging the other day.â
âAh, thatâs the nature of business. One wrong move and everything can come crashing down.â
âOh⦠What a shame.â
The sudden downfall of the Cruz family left everyone stunned. It dawned on Teresa that the Cruz familyâs downfall was the reason why Madisyn had remained untouched. Truly, Madisyn was incredibly fortunate.
âMadisyn,â Teresa said, reclining in her chair, âI happen to have a few tickets to Waylonâs concert. Would you care for one?â She planned to cause Madisyn some trouble if she asked for the ticket.
But Madisyn cast a glance in her direction and replied, âNo, thank you.â
Teresaâs brow furrowed. In this day and age, could there truly be women who werenât swooning over Waylon? Surely, she must be putting on an act.
The morning went by in a blur, and by the time Madisyn wrapped up her work, it was already lunchtime. She was planning on grabbing a bite to eat.
Madisyn called Susan to invite her to join her at the concert. Susan eagerly accepted. She was taken aback to discover that Waylon was Madisynâs brother. Waylon had always flown under the radar in the entertainment world. Susan had always imagined him as a dedicated artist from modest beginnings.
Though she had crossed paths with Waylon at the Johns familyâs banquets, she had never imagined they were related. It appeared that not just she, but others were also oblivious to the link between Waylon and the Johns family.
âWaylon is so low-key!â Susan remarked.
âIndeed, he is,â Madisyn replied with a smile.
Susan was absolutely thrilled at the prospect of attending the concert. They chatted for a bit, and after lunch, Madisyn headed back to her office. When she walked in, she was greeted by the sight of her desk in chaos, with some tickets strewn across it.
Beside the desk, Teresa and her entourage wore expressions of hostility. Other colleagues cast worried glances at Madisyn. Though her delicate features betrayed no hint of emotion, Madisynâs icy eyes glinted with a subtle menace. She spoke with unnerving calm. âTeresa, who gave you the authority to touch my desk?â
Teresa remained silent, but one of her minions stepped forward. âMadisyn, you are shameless. You claimed you had no interest in the concert, yet here you are, swiping Teresaâs tickets! Do you have any idea what these tickets are worth? She could have you arrested for theft!â
Teresaâs eyes were icy, laced with disdain. âMadisyn, you truly have no shame!â
âI stole your tickets? Open your eyes and look closelyâthey belong to me!â Madisyn found the whole situation utterly absurd.
Teresa lifted the five tickets and said, âI had five ticketsâso youâre telling me you have the same number?â
