Chapter 239
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 239:
Everyone was stunned. Since when did Hutton become so accommodating? It was truly surprising!
Courtney felt even more frustrated. Madisyn seemed to be exploiting her skills! Hutton likely believed Madisyn was talented simply because she was related to Courtney. Elaine, however, was thrilled. It would benefit Madisyn to have Hutton as her mentor. Madisyn was angry with Hutton in her mind, but when she saw Elaineâs excited eyes, she held back and changed her response. âIâll give it some thought.â
Silence fell over the room once more. Hutton had just said the same thing to Courtney, and now Madisyn was saying it to Hutton.
Courtney clenched her fists in frustration, her heart heavy with pain and bitterness. It felt unjust. Why was Madisyn exploiting her?
Throughout lunch, Courtney struggled to keep her anger in check. After the meal, she took Madisyn aside.
With disdain, Courtney demanded, âMadisyn, why did you tell Hutton you would give it some thought? Just reject him!â
âWhy?â Madisyn asked calmly.
Courtney was surprised by Madisynâs question and was clearly exasperated. âThe reason is simple: you donât know anything about painting. Hutton wanted to take you as his student because youâre my cousin. He assumed youâd be as talented as I am, but the reality is, you donât know how to paint at all.â She was extremely irritated. She disliked Madisyn and refused to let her take advantage of the situation.
Madisyn found Courtneyâs words amusing. âJust because you can paint, does that mean I canât?â
Courtneyâs contempt was evident. âI know you were down and out before. How could you possibly paint? Even if you could, it wouldnât be good.â
As Madisyn looked at Courtney, her eyes grew increasingly cold. Although she wasnât fond of Courtneyâs family, she didnât harbor any resentment. But looking at Courtney now, Madisyn could clearly sense her and her familyâs selfishness and vanity.
Madisyn remarked, âHutton was invited by my father. Do you have any gratitude at all? Even if Hutton wants me as his student, it doesnât concern you.â
âBullshit! Hutton is my grandfatherâs friend!â Courtney shot back. âBesides, if Hutton hadnât seen my paintings, how would he even consider you as his student?â
Madisyn asked coolly, âIf Hutton is your grandfatherâs friend, why didnât you invite him here earlier?â
Courtney was at a loss for words. But she quickly added, âIf I become Huttonâs student, it will benefit everyone. Please stay out of it, Madisyn. Just turn him down.â
Madisyn gave a derisive smile. âI was planning to decline, but the more you behave this way, the less I want to decline,â she said, then turned and walked away. She had no desire to continue the conversation with Courtney.
Courtneyâs eyes widened, and blue veins bulged on the back of her hands. She was infuriated. She had never encountered such a spiteful person. She loathed Madisyn intensely!
She believed that Hutton was considering Madisyn because of her and thought that if she spoke to Hutton, he might change his decision. With this in mind, Courtney smirked with pride. Her foolish cousin actually believed she could become Huttonâs student.
Hutton left shortly after lunch.
âWe should leave too,â Glenn said.
âGlenn, thereâs something else,â Rowan said, stopping him.
âWhatâs up?â Glenn asked.
Rowan appeared somewhat uncomfortable but still asked, âThe marriage agreement between the Klein and Johns families still exists, right?â
Glenn confirmed with a nod.
Rowan continued, âWe didnât say anything when Kristine was around. Now that sheâs gone, why not let Courtney marry Andrew?â
Glenn was taken aback by this suggestion. Meanwhile, Courtney shyly lowered her head. Elaine frowned and quickly responded, âAndrew is currently dating Madisyn.â
Rowan frowned in disbelief. âWhat? Are you serious? Madisyn has only just returned, and sheâs already dating Andrew?â
Courtney stared at Madisyn, clearly shocked.
Sarai looked at them and remarked, âElaine, I understand Andrew is a remarkable man. You might want him for Madisyn, but sheâs only just returned and might not have grasped the high society etiquette yet. Given Andrewâs discerning nature, I believe Courtney would be a better fit for this marriage agreement.â She was skeptical of Elaineâs claim.
Elaine, on the other hand, was upset by her response. She understood that Sarai was eager to marry her daughter to Andrew, but how could she belittle Madisyn?
Before Elaine could respond, Glenn interjected, âMy wife is speaking the truth. Madisyn and Andrew have been seeing each other since she returned.â
However, Sarai remained unconvinced. âHow is that possible? Andrew has always had good tasteâ¦â She unintentionally revealed her true feelings.
âWhat do you mean by that?â Elaine snapped in anger.
