Chapter 242
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 242:
âOf course,â Andrew responded. Madisyn was momentarily speechless at Corbettâs triumphant and defiant look. Despite his elite appearance, Corbett was mean-spirited and sharp-tongued. Andrewâs gaze shifted slowly to Corbett. âCorbett, it seems you like to rely on others to achieve your ambitions in your career.â
âThatâs not true. Tatiana and I genuinely love each other, and it just so happens we are both quite capable,â Corbett retorted, looking at Tatiana with an affection that somehow sent a shiver down Madisynâs spine. Tatianaâs heart fluttered; she hadnât realized she held such a dear place in Corbettâs heart.
Corbett smirked. âAndrew, you might not know Mr. Cooper well, but heâs quite familiar with Tatiana. Heâs even expressed interest in investing in us.â In fact, it was Tatiana who told him that. To charm Corbett, she had boasted about her connections. She only knew Jared but had convinced Corbett that her relationship with him was strong enough to secure an investment. However, she hadnât anticipated Corbett would say it so confidently now.
Tatiana, maintaining her facade, cast a defiant glance at Madisyn and Andrew. She saw herself as a capable woman. What did Madisyn have besides her looks? Even though Andrew was set to inherit the Klein familyâs business, with her influence, Tatiana was confident she could propel Corbett to the top.
âReally? Jared expressed interest in investing in you?â Madisyn asked, her eyebrows arched.
Tatiana replied, âYes. Mr. Cooper and I have known each other for years, and he holds Corbett in high regard. Naturally, as Corbettâs girlfriend, I do everything I can to secure investments for him. A woman should bring more to the table than just beauty. She should help her man succeed. Thatâs true love.â Then she took a look at Corbett. The two looked at each other in an intimate way.
Witnessing this, Madisyn felt her eyes sting. Could these two stop being so unbearable? Yet, their words clearly impressed the man in the traditional suit. âSecuring an investment from Mr. Cooper is no small feat. Heâs known as the best in the investment industry.â
The others in the room looked contemplative. It seemed Corbett might indeed have a chance to outshine Andrew in the competition this time. When Corbett saw their reactions, his smile widened. âIâll make Grandpa proud.â
The man in the traditional suit nodded. âThatâs good to hear. Your grandfather is also eager to see what you can do.â
âYes, Corbett has always been smart, even as a young boy.â
âCorbett, we have high expectations for you.â The groupâs compliments were not subtle. They might be senior executives or even board members of the Klein Group. A shadow flickered across Madisynâs eyes. Yet, Andrew laughed lightly. âYouâre being quite childish.â
Corbettâs eyebrows arched. âWhat do you mean by that, Andrew?â
He assumed Andrew was envious. A smug certainty gleamed in Corbettâs eyes. He had been overshadowed by Andrew for years, and now he saw his chance to reverse their roles.
Andrew pulled out a document and laid it on the table. âTake a good look at this.â
Corbettâs expression tightened, and he signaled Tatiana. She stepped forward and picked up the document. When Tatiana saw the first page, her expression shifted dramatically. How could this be? It was an investment contract from Homelight Enterprise!
Corbettâs reaction was the same as hers, his eyes widening in shock. Their astonishment piqued the interest of the others seated on the sofa. Andrew directed his assistant to offer a copy to them and stated, âMr. Cooper and I finalized this contract yesterday. I wonder why you claimed that he was looking to partner with you. To my knowledge, Mr. Cooper only invests in one company within an industry.â
Andrewâs words struck Corbett like a slap. Corbett had been brimming with pride moments ago, but now he looked utterly humiliated. The others who read the contract shifted their gaze toward Corbett, their expressions filled with disappointment.
In an attempt to salvage the situation, Tatiana quickly interjected, âMr. Klein, perhaps you should inquire how your girlfriend secured this partnership for you. I saw her shopping with Mr. Cooper a couple of days ago. I assumed they were dating. Itâs surprising to find sheâs with you. So why was she so intimate with Mr. Cooper?â She stared at Madisyn angrily, as if she was about to devour her.
She deeply despised Madisyn, blaming her for all the complications. What a tramp!
âAre you saying that I obtained the contract by flirting with Mr. Cooper?â Madisyn questioned.
âI didnât say that explicitly, but your connection with Mr. Cooper certainly seems unusual,â Tatiana retorted sharply.
âI merely went shopping with Jared. The mall has cameras everywhere, which anyone can check at any time. But what about you? Why have you been seen in hotels with many actors?â
âNonsense! We were just rehearsing our lines!â Tatiana shouted.
Madisyn shrugged nonchalantly. âI didnât accuse you of anything. Why are you so emotional? Whether you did anything wrong, only you would know. Itâs strange how seeing two people together in a mall led you to assume an affair. Perhaps thatâs a scenario youâre familiar with?â
âYouââ Tatiana was so infuriated she couldnât muster a response. Corbettâs expression was dark, almost sinister. He realized he had been thoroughly defeated this time, with many of Klein Groupâs senior leaders as witnesses. His grandfatherâs friend was also present. His grandfather would undoubtedly hear about todayâs events. Staying would only add to his embarrassment. Corbett shot Tatiana a look and remarked, âIt appears you have the upper hand today, Andrew. I need to address some matters within the company, so I must leave now. Farewell.â
With that, Corbett left. The others seated on the sofa got up and exited one by one. As the man in the traditional suit left the room, he dialed Andrew and Corbettâs grandfather, Damari Klein. âCorbett still lacks composure and maturityâ¦â
