Chapter 261
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 261:
âYou seem to know a lot about flowers, huh?â Andrew inquired. âThatâs correct.â Courtney nodded. âIâve studied a lot of things since childhood, but flowers have always been my favorite.â A faint, unreadable smile appeared on Andrewâs handsome face.
Unable to tolerate Courtneyâs nonsense any longer, Madisyn interjected, âAre you sure these are summer snowflakes?â She gestured toward the white petals fluttering gently in the wind.
Courtney nodded confidently. âYes, Madisyn, you might not be familiar with them, but summer snowflakes are highly valued for their medicinal properties! I even attempted to grow some when I was younger, but itâs incredibly difficult to keep them alive!â Courtney maintained an innocent look while proudly sharing her extensive knowledge, silently ridiculing Madisyn, assuming she knew nothing about the summer snowflakes.
âThe summer snowflake you mentioned has a green dot at the tip of each white petal, yet this flower is entirely white,â Madisyn said, shaking her head.
Courtney retorted with a sneer, âMadisyn, what makes you say that? Have you ever actually seen a summer snowflake?â At that moment, a florist approached and clarified, âThis lady is correct. These arenât summer snowflakes. In fact, summer snowflakes wouldnât survive in this climate. These are actually moonlit orchids, which resemble summer snowflakes.â
Courtneyâs cheeks turned red with embarrassment. While she knew about flowers, her knowledge was not as comprehensive as she had boasted. But how did Madisyn know this?
âOh, I see. I must have mixed them up,â Courtney said with a forced smile, her frustration evident. She felt a burning embarrassment, now understanding why Andrew had smiled earlier.
Andrew and Madisyn moved ahead, with Courtney trailing behind. She tried several times to join their conversation but couldnât break into their close-knit bond. Courtney felt a growing sense of despair.
Suddenly, Andrew received a phone call and excused himself. Now, it was just Courtney and Madisyn in the garden.
Courtney observed Madisynâs delicate, attractive profile, feeling a surge of jealousy. âYou must be quite pleased with yourself, huh?â
âWhy would I feel that way?â Madisyn responded coolly, treating Courtney as if she were just a passerby.
Courtney felt suffocated by that look. She considered Madisyn a rival, yet Madisyn seemed indifferent to her existence. This realization left Courtney deeply irked.
âMadisyn, you went from a country girl to a rich heiress, and now youâre clinging to Andrew, aiming for even greater wealth. Just remember, the Klein family is no ordinary rich family. Theyâre not fools. Someone like you will end up being a joke if you try to marry into their family!â Courtney taunted.
âIt looks like the one being a joke today isnât me,â Madisyn retorted with a slight, cold smile.
Courtney gritted her teeth. âSo this was your plan all along, wasnât it? You orchestrated everything!â
âA plan? If you hadnât tried to undermine me to elevate yourself, you wouldnât have ended up letting everyone know you gave a fake gift!â Madisyn shot back coolly.
âYouââ Courtneyâs mind went blank with anger. She couldnât even find a way to retort against Madisyn. She felt deeply aggrieved, bested by someone she underestimated.
Just then, she saw Andrew returning out of the corner of her eye. Without thinking, she instinctively grabbed Madisynâs hand.
The next moment, they both tumbled into the river! The river, running through the estate, was neither too deep nor too shallow. Madisyn was momentarily shocked before realizing what had occurred, and then she felt an urge to laugh. Courtney and Kristine were so much alike! They were both such cunning manipulators, using the same cheap tricks!
âAndrew, help me!â Despite being able to stand in the river, Courtney called out for Andrew.
Andrewâs brow furrowed, and he shot a glance filled with evident disdain. He directed a nearby servant, âGet her out.â The servant stepped into the water and swiftly helped Courtney to her feet.
Gasping for breath, her clothes thoroughly soaked, Courtney looked up at Andrew with pleading eyes. âAndrew, donât be mad at Madisyn. I made her angry. Thatâs why she did this.â Since she had just emerged from the water, she was drenched from head to toe, and her appearance was alluring. Many men would feel a tug of sympathy seeing her in such a state.
âIs that so? Since youâve upset Madisyn, you need to apologize to her,â Andrew said, his face giving nothing away.
